for me, my sound card doesnt add any improvements to me

i saw a few forummers selling oem versions of x-fi pci-e x1 version at garage sales. RM200. the X-Fi Fatality is also around that price rite? cant really afford to get a sound card at that price
my max budget probably around RM80 perhaps

yeah me too, when i was small that time my dad always tell me and my bros to pull out the pc main plug from the power source. now we'll automatically do that when we hear lightning

as for my hostel usually i don't really bother much unless it's a really kaw storm and lightning
coz if strike also it will strike the main proxy server first

If it is real that 4870 is only gonna cost only RM600 in april/may, i am in for one, baby! 

bear in mind our basic salary here is very much lower compared to semenanjung malaysia, sometimes by 40% in the same similar professions.

but pay can change and vary alot in even in the same field

adoi, shhhh... not so loud. anyway, it's not that i wanna change up & down, just squeezing the best deal for  :

bottleneck will not occur if used for daily work. for gaming etc, as long as u don't overdo your upgrades, you'll be fine with minimal bottlenecks.

example:
1. entire rig with 4gb ram + current hi end graphics card = bottleneck+ overkill.
2. entire rig with 2gb ram + current low-mid end graphics card = just nice.

some of us have our reasons and needs for building getting a new pc, but most people own a fast PC for the sake of having it

virtual machine is only for me to test certain applications and emulate database connectivity stuff, not used often. usually i m limited by RAM and cpu dedication to VM. i tried on my friend's 8GB ram with E8400, the VM runs like a normal pc, a lot faster compared to mine; crawling.
