Frankly speaking, if u really really really has limited budget let say, RM100-150 then it is wise to upgrade the processor to a better one. Otherwise, save up and go for new system. It's ain't cheap to upgrade old sch rigs like P4.. The upgrading price is very high.. Not say I'm dragging u to get a new system but this is the facts. tongue.gif

P/s: FIY, HT is one of the best features that P4 ever has in their era. This function make use of the empty cycle the processor. Read HERE for more information.

Go for those chips that with HT. For sure it will be useful for your case. HT is more much important thou. Btw, if u can find the chip capped with 800fsb + HT on that will be perfect. Used to play with P4 3.2Ghz, 3.0Ghz, 2.8Ghz, 2.4Ghz (noted all are HT on processor, beside the newly touched 2.8Ghz without HT)before.. All of them are doing great job.

@~Rogue~
Ah.. Dont think there is a good move for shifting P4 proc into DDR2 and PCIE era as the will gona be a great overall bottlenecking in ur system. sweat.gif Just if ur not a heavy gamer and dont mind to live without DX10, 1950XT are right the corner for u. thumbup.gif One of the monster for AGP in DX9 era.

What i can say is, if u going to do alot of work @ a time (multi-task) )hen Quady lo.. Casual use E8xxx series would be right the corner for u. tongue.gif

Haha.. But I7 is still expensive. Eventhough performance is good, but not much ppl willing to fork out such a big amount of $ to buy it. laugh.gif So atm now, i think quaddy still the best choice in term of price vs ratio.

O/t: Hehehe! 100 tabs for crab instead of prawn man. brows.gif Oh yea.. Currently on low budget setup man.. sad.gif Ur 8800GTS is G80 or G92?

Haha.. Gonna stick to this setup for another few more years after this upgrade. Left few parts to get my rigs work now.

@Edmin
Yea.. Your words make sense. Haha.. But then, somehow for some cases the time taken for the driver to reach the destination from the source does matter. tongue.gif

@Ray
Haha.. Worry not fren.. There are still some other P4 companion in this board.

@~Rogue~
Well.. If ur P4 ain't mainly use for gaming, then just stick whatever u have to avoid the bottlenecking issues. Afterall, u saved back ur bucks for buying new GC. wink.gif

@Jcsy

For me, KMPlayer + coreAVC makes the miracle when I was still in P4 era. Still keeping the .mkv files that Edmin uploaded for testing purpose few thread ago, i think is last V4 or V5 if im mistaken. brows.gif

With my previous setup, 2GB RAM + 3.2Gh clocked to 3.6Ghz.. With and without coreAVC makes around 20-25% diff. Without coreAVC the CPU load is 95-100%, with coreAVC core load only around 70-85%.

Haha.. My shit list? Its a damn long story lo.. Lazy to explain. tongue.gif Just click on the link man. :laugh.gif But anyways, gotten all my $ back and now case closed.

u're MPC user too? biggrin.gif Anyways, got chance should give KMplayer a try. For me is greater then MPC and have much much more functions then MPC. Comes with build-in codec too. A worth one to try.

@colinwong89
Just realized that ur D43 running on 3V.. shocking.gif Can it take such high vram? shocking.gif

Haha... Thats danger for D43 man.. 2.95v is enough to kill it already. Not to say 3.05. shocking.gif

Oh yea, the kmplayer is from korea. A nice one for me.. Use it to player all sort of files without any external codec pack install. laugh.gif Currently only install coreAVC for better decoding for HD files.

@KahLooN

KMplayer ah? Can stand is a say is a stand alone player with build in codec. By right it comes with alot internal codec build-ed in it. One of my fav player.. U can add in extra codec such as coreAVC as well. Then just need to did some changes on the setting to uncheck the internal and use the external 1 that u add in to decode the files. nod.gif
