BenQ New Lcd

"Kuala Lumpur, September 25- BenQ launched its latest Full HD 16:9 range of LCD monitors featuring 100% mapping to 1080p content, on Wednesday.

The new models are spread across BenQ’s E and M Series LCD displays- E2400HDand the M2200HD, also including the world’s first 21.5 inch Full E2200 HD LCD monitor. The E2400 stands at 24 inches, meanwhile the M2200HD comes in at 21.5 inches.

BenQ will cater to the visual fanatics with their new 16:9 wide screens ensuring better visuals than those brought on by traditional 16:10 displays. Images are now pushed to the screen’s limits, instead of the black bars that stretch across conventional screens.

Users can also expect HDMI and DVI-D to deliver easy connection to gaming consoles, Blu-ray players and set-top boxes. Headphone jacks, D-Sub and Senseye+photo Human Vision Technology are designed to work with both the E and M series LCDs.

Supported by 1080p HDMI interface and a 5Gbps digital transit, the HD LCD monitors provide users with connectivity to digital multimedia services such as HD DVD players and the latest gaming consoles like Xbox 360 and PS3.

The launch also saw the launch of the T2200HD 21.5 inch Full HD LCD, energy-saving E900HD and G900HD. BenQ even threw in a couple of Joybooks-the S42 and S33 laptops.

BenQ 16:9 1080p full HD LCD displays are available now and prices range from RM 689 to RM 1,500. "

Recently stumble upon this while going through a mobile phone site, good for budget gamers?

If you sit at the recommended distance, you wouldn't need super eyes to see the differences

RM689 is the E2200HD, so its 21.5" to specifically. Though I would expect most retailers to sell it around RM700+ or so. M2200HD on the other hand will be around RM900 however.

RM1500 is basically the M2400HD, not sure about the E2400HD itself but it should be in around the region of RM1300-1400.

Do note that the E900HD is not a full HD display, rather it is only 720p. Or more specifically, 1366x768. Doesn't have HDMI input as well as lower response times.

Haven't got my hands on E2200HD yet, they aren't shipped to suppliers. Lepas Raya baru ship.

How much the price will be is up to the retailers. My estimates and from an insider source says that its around that region of RM1300+ - RM1400 or so, of course I hope its less. The E2400HD trounces the Dell S2409W in every way, uses a more updated TN panel, has much better response times, theres audio output and theres even a set of small speakers.

So you'd expect a price premium on the E2400HD, although before anything reaches to retailers I'll refrain from saying an exact price just yet.

Well.... It should perform well.

Just take a history look on the last few 24" LCDs BenQ produced. The very first on their 24" line was the FP241W, it was back then one of the best 24" LCDs around both in price and quality. Not to mention it was also the first 24" monitor for consumers to have every input available. Although it did suffer a little when it comes to gaming, the FP241VW fixed all that up and again another superb 24" LCD.

After that consumers were complaining on the price of the FP241VW, so BenQ came up with their super-cheap(atleast at its time) G2400W for mainstream users. Again it did not dissapoint at all considering the price you are paying.

While the V2400W didn't break new boundaries as much as its predecessors did, it was also just released a few months ago and it is indeed one of the sleekest looking LCDs around. The price has dropped significantly since its launch price of RM1799 to now only RM1469, can even get below RM1450 if you bargain abit.

So since BenQ hasn't F'd up a single 24" LCD monitor release yet, I'd expect the E/M 2400HD to just be equally as good at its own rights.

It goes more like, if the E/M 2400HD does well the E/M 2200HD will too. They have equally the same specs, just with a different size and bigger pixel pitch.

G900W did well, so did G2200W and G2400W followed suit too. This isn't the BenQ from 10 years ago where half their CRT lines were faulty, their break-in into the LCD market with their first 15" LCD monitor was also rather poor. Its all changed now, BenQ is one of the top LCD monitor manufacturer in the world today. Atleast they don't have to rely onto a third-party panel or need to resort to buying panels from other companies like NEC or Samsung.

You aren't playing on native 1080p. The native res of the G2400W is 1920x1200, althought it doesn't matter much to you either way because you have 1:1 pixel mapping and I assume you can either tolerate "black bars" or slightly stretched images.

BTW, a small update.

I went to Viewnet today, asked my friend who works there when they will have the E2400HD. Unfortunately, it isn't known yet. The official BenQ supplier has not brought in any of the E/M models. So its really hard to say when it'll be on sale on retailers. While I don't expect the stock to be as limited as the V2400W since these are mainstream products, can't say that it'll come in huge quantities either.

The G2400W is a 16:10 (1920x1200 resolution) while the new ones are following HDTV standard at 16:9 (1920x1080 resolution). Not much difference because your monitor will compensate and display some black bars when watching a HD video. However, the panel performance is different. For example, these panels are capable for a native contrast ratio at 1000:1 and they are equipped with compensators where they can achieve a dynamic contrast ratio of 10,000:1. The G2400W don't have any. Response time is at 2ms GTG (accelerated) and the color gamut is wider.

so what does that 10k:1 contrast ratio do for the picture quality?

btw g2400w has no stretches, man if they do i wont get one of those, and the black bars bottom and top of the screen on the G2400W are like about half an inch, not so noticeable, but anyways; meaning to say theses new models wont have the black bars as well?

Just went to check the measurements for E2200 and t2200 from the sites. Anyone can explain how come
the measurements seem kinda awkward (well to me)? hmm.gif

E2200 = 522.8x407.8x186.8 (mm)
T2200 = 386.7x516.4x211.6 (mm)

As stated on the site, the frames cause the difference in measurements? but how com the T2200 is so much difference in height?
Measurements are in height x width x dimension right?

^all monitor will support wii. u just need to find a proper cable. probably u need 3rd party vga cable like vdigi...

if u want plug n play monitor, u need a monitor with component/composite input like asus pg221, etc

p/s:.all benq lcds that we discuss in here doesn't come with component/composite/s-video input.

bro.. u r not playing in the real 1080p. your source only upscale to make it 1080p bcoz your previous model isnt fullHD. while this new lcd its with fullHD meaning its originally 1080p not to purposely upscale it to 1080p. 10k dynamic contrast do very big difference and also with the 2GTG its really for gaming one. else if your eyes is super duper sensitive u still can sense theres blur maybe?

The thing with BenQ is that if u call up BenQ HQ, they don't deal with end users....they will direct u to their distributors. They wouldn't even be bother to answer your queries on models, pricing availability.

Yet, for any new product launches, they put their company name as the one to contact.....

I have nothing against their products, just their customer (or lack of) service!!

if u want plug n play monitor, u need a monitor with component/composite input like asus pg221, etc

p/s:.all benq lcds that we discuss in here doesn't come with component/composite/s-video input.

The major difference between E and M models is the inclusion of webcam only. M has the webcam. I read the quick start guide that stated the monitor has usb ports which acts as a hub but my E model does not have it which means M model has usb ports.

from the spec, looks like the E2200 series got built in speaker (2 x1W)..
lets say I want to connect the ps3/xbox360 using HDMI only, is there like an output from the lcd mionitor that can connect to other speakers?

oh, just noticed that it also have Audio In/ and Headphone jack laugh.gif

Menu > Picture > Sharpness

Make sure you are in standard mode, if you use any of the pre-set modes, you cannot adjust the settings of the LCD.

Do tell me how 720p content looks on the monitor though.

Theres audio out from the LCD.

Frankly speaking though.... I'm rather impressed by those puny 2x1w speakers, sure they aren't good enough for gaming, movies or music at all. But it actually isn't bad in a way, the "fake" bass it produces is rather good and theres no notice of mono sounds.

720p content such as Heavenly Sword and GOW2 looks gorgeous. PS3 doesn't upscale 720p content if i'm not mistaken but it still looks fantastic. Xbox 360 upscales everything. Xbox 360 games got jaggies unlike PS3 but it's still bearable. upscaled dvd movies on xbox 360 look the worst. i don't dare to try dvd playback on PS3. however SD anime playback from PS3 looks good. PS3 works best with E2400HD.

PS3 never upscales games because it lacks a scaler chip.

What upscales the game is the monitor. Which going by what you say, it means the E2400HD has another legendary scaler from BenQ again! biggrin.gif

I took a look and a few small tests yesterday in Viewnet with the E2400HD. Sadly, couldn't do much other than the usual color and geometry tests. Of course it passes them with flying colors in my eyes, wish I could have brought a PS3 to test it out with it.

Now pondering if I should hit up RM1.2k to get it yet or not....

Still waiting for the E2200HD, Viewnet is telling me its going to be on sale for RM800 only..... brows.gif

M series won't be on sale in Malaysia until next year.

All we have right now is the E2400HD, the E2200HD probably end of this month or next month. But definitely this year unless something changes again.

A rather technical review of the E2200HD and E2400HD from none other than the great Anantech: http://www.anandtech.com/displays/showdoc.aspx?i=3449

Do note that in the review, the E2400HD that Anand got is a pre-release model. In Malaysia here, you don't have to worry as we are getting the latest batch, rev01.

Ideally, LCDs should offer at least three options: stretch to fill, stretch but maintain aspect ratio, or display using a 1:1 mapping. The last option is missing from both BenQ LCDs

I know this is a console section but just curious how it's like playing PC games. Does it stretch? FOV? Seeing most Widescreen Monitors with aspect ratio of 16:10, will the 16:9 cause any problems. Plan to get the E2400HD for both XBox 360 gaming and pc gaming.

Edit: Also, does the PS2 work for this monitor?

I may be a noob in HDTV's, but I think most HDTV/LCDs are 16:9.

FOV, and stretching is not common because it's a norm for next-gen gaming consoles now. Eventho' I own a Wii, tho you're limited to 480p, I do believe that wide-screen gaming IS next-gen in today's gaming.

But since you're asking about PC, mostly(almost all) PC games allows you to adjust your own resolutions, so I don't think stretching/FOV will occur.

Please correct me if I'm wrong sweat.gif

Haha, actually the more common PC widescreen LCD monitors are mostly 16:10 aspect ratio. It is only recently that 16:9 are being pushed. That is the reason why I'm asking if image would be distorted in anyway since most PC games probably have support for the 16:10 aspect ratio. It is true that all LCD TVs are 16:9.

FYI,

BenQ LCD 22" or 24", although they can display 1920X 1080 on 22" or 24", doesn't mean they are full HD.

A truly Full HD is 40" and above.

BenQ LCD 22" or 24", although they can display 1920X 1080 on 22" or 24", doesn't mean they are full HD.

A truly Full HD is 40" and above.

I bought the E2200 HD three days ago.

It's a nifty monitor that displays great contrast at 1080p high-def resolution. The speakers are crap though but thank god that you can attach your awesome speakers into the microphone jack on the left side of your monitor. Once you plug your speakers into it, the sounds don't come out of the 1watt speakers on the monitor. They will come out of your speakers. So you can connect your PS3 or 360 to the monitor using HDMI cable and then connect your speakers to the microphone jack on the monitor to enjoy an awesome gaming experience. The monitor has a pretty decent customization features/options for the Standard Mode, so you can tweak the contrast, brightness, etc. there. 2ms response time ensures a great picture quality while viewing movies or playing games.

The screen looks sharp, clean, and very beautiful. The outer cover is a nice glossy black. You can have the monitor stand up on your desk or buy a desktop mount and mount the monitor above your desk or on the wall. The only small issue I have is the annoying extension stand that is designed for the monitor stand that you place on your desk. It angled in a way where your cables (HDMI, VGA, and DVI) will have a slight difficulty in plugging in. But once you force them in, they stay there tightly.

E2200 also boasts the EnergyStar quality - this means that it does not consume as much power as other HD monitors/LCD TV's, etc. And at a mere 10 pounds in weight, it's very easy to lift up. My old 19" LCD monitor was far heavier than this one.

The price is decent for a high-def monitor such as this. So far, I'm quite pleased! biggrin.gif

You pretty much "turn it off" by plugging your speaker system into the microphone jack on the left side of the monitor. The sounds will then come out of your speaker system instead of the monitor speakers. smile.gif

To be honest, every HD screen has its ups and downs. To say that one sucks more than the other is really biased without real proof. These E22 and E24 monitors are good in their own ways and may be of a nuisance in other ways. For example - it's small and energy efficient with great brightness and viewing angle. But because of their small sizes, words and everything are smaller than what you were accustomed to.

No one can say which one is superior or inferior. It really is based on what you need and where you are going to use your monitor.

Even HD televisions are the same thing. You can get one of those really high-end HD TV but if you place them in the wrong area, such as area that has a flood of sunlight, etc., then it's going to look horrible.

Hi Athedian,

May I know where you bought it ?

I went to LowYat and asked several shops, to my surprised, none of them selling shocking.gif
most of them either not selling, or said have to "specially" order, some said stock will available by end of this month ......

Honestly, this is my 1st time buying PC LCD here in Malaysia, I didn't know it's so difficult to get a normal BenQ LCD ....

Please message me the shop & contact number ...... otherwise I may have to buy from HK .....

Thanks in advance !

I have to be honest, I don't live in Malaysia. My friend introduced me to this site for some PC technical solutions. In Canada, it is currently selling at $219 CND so it is roughly around $624 in your currency. I bought it from A-power.com (they sell things pretty cheap there) unfortunately they don't sell internationally. Another friend of mine ordered E2400 from this site and he lives in the States - http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/sea...AIN#detailspecs

BENQ E2200 HD is here: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/Sea...9416&CatId=2775

TigerDirect.com does ship internationally via UPS World Wide. However, my friend ordered it online and I did not do that. So it's best for you guys to double-check the site first before placing an order.

I believe it does. You just need to set your screen resolution through the desktop display properties. At 1920x1080, it's 1080p. And yes, it only supports 2.0 speakers from the monitor itself. But if you plug in your 5.1 speakers into the microphone jack on the left side of the monitor, the sounds will come out as 5.1 channels. HDMI transfers the sounds as well as the images. So there shouldn't be any sound degradation.

Hi klseet,

I bought it online from http://www.a-power.com/. But they do not ship internationally. You may try http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/sea...AIN#detailspecs . So it's best for you guys to double-check the site first before placing an order. I understand that international shipping may be quite expensive though...unless you have a friend that lives in North America or something and have him/her bring it to you.

BENQ E2200 HD is here: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/Sea...9416&CatId=2775

Sorry I can't be much of a help. I can only review what I have experienced so far.

Hmm...maybe we can wait for pcfair? It would be held this december is it? If I'm not mistaken Benq should be having a booth there. I also have a thought that the sellers in Lowyat are reluctant to sell E2200HD or T2200HD. Most of them when I asked, they said they have only T221W. When I checked with the authorized distributor, they said two shops from Lowyat took from them. But when I called the said two shops, both of them said they don't have the stock, only T221W.

When I asked again with the authorized distributor on E2200HD, they said it could be officially launched this December. However, they would still try to sell old stocks first, eg T2200HD.

So guys, let's wait and see.

Ummm for T2200HD there is A LOT in Thundermatch (like, from the floor up the way to the ceiling sweat.gif ), and there's one with the same price from Startec too

So many already bought it thumbup.gif

For those who bought E2200HD, how is the texts and words when using 1920x1080 with PC? Small or it is just quite nice? (me rabun sweat.gif)

For mine, the text is just nice, but I had to lower the brightness a bit, otherwise it would be too 'flashy' and sometimes made me dizzy (without lowering the brightness) tongue.gif

I don't put my hope much, it is relatively impossible for them to put under 640. but maybe they will give out freebies, maybe cash voucher or for E model, a HDMI cable is sufficient tongue.gif

Finally, got the E2200HD from StarTac (hope it's correct spelling !) Low Yat @ RM599 comes with a DVI cable.
Checked at the PC Fair KLCC last week, BenQ is quoting the same model for more than RM700, something must be wrong with BenQ .......

Connect with xbox360 through HDMI, after adjusting the screen & colour setup, overall very happy with the result !

Just tested out the monitor with my xbox360 and there's noticable horizontal line on the display on all resolution. The monitor works fine with my ps3 and pc. Anyone having problems connecting E2200HD on xbox360 thru vga cable?
