RM2388? smile.gif that is a steep pricetag... any words on the package? or special promotion to go with that RM2388?.. any extra memory, pouch, digital frame or special voucher?

Didn't ask for much. I overheard that they will provide a 8GB memory card for it. The phone looks pretty thick actually but the screen size good enough. Then again, although it has a high resolution display, somehow the UI gave me an impression that the pixel size is big making it look rather dull. Believe me, you got to see it for yourself.

Anyway, its a feature phone and the price has just made my choice easier. rclxms.gif Skipping this one. LG Renoir next. tongue.gif

last week bought the Samsung Pixon in Singapore during a business visit there. The price is reasonably good there at S$750 equivalent to about RM1800. What really suprise right here our local samsung distributor, FMG has exorbitantly put the price tag at RM2300++ for this model. A different about RM500 across the causeway. I did checked on SamsungInnov model there and the price is just about our price here at S$1150 which about RM2,800. Is FMG really going for killing on Samsung Pixon here?????

FMG is like that one. New models they price very high. Then realize sales are very cold and demand loosing, then they devalue the product significantly. Just see the number of concept stores they are closing. The rate is very fast. They now totally rely on distributors and resellers for the sales driving. Tells you a lot about their management and sales strategy.

At the same time, we can't compare with Singaporean goods. They could have been subsidized and tax structured differently than in Malaysia. They could have the price advantage due to this. While FMG knows they are the only company holding the brand and they know their monopoly. Thats why price competition is just not there.

FYI, the INNOV8 8GB could be bought at RM2700 as I read from this forum.

You are damned right. Thats the main reason that the first and the last time I bought the handphone from local distributor was about 12 years ago on Motorola Startac Model and I keep on using it without any defect for a good 5 years!!! Afterward for new handphone upgrading works i have a regular year end visit to Singapore.

Its a Samsung proprietary OS. Its not like what we see on Nokia, HTC smartphones. However, it does support J2ME or JAVA application so you can install games and applications. You just need to find the right ones compatible for Samsung.

i have some hands-on with the Pixon and LG's Renoir earlier. Both the UI look very much the same. I wonder underneath it all are they using using the same software, juz tweak the UI a little.

Btw both i prefer Pixon better. Somehow the touch thing is more responsive with Pixon. About SGD750 now (btw i am in Singapore), loosely abt RM1800. Not sure about the about the price in MY now but for that price i think its pretty good one.

My only reservation is the availability of application. I uses an expense tracker intensively and there is none by default. Not sure if i can find any out there.

BTW, is Pixon officially launched in MY? this thread is kinda quiet.

Pixon is available locally in Mal but the price is 2.2K onwards. The phone didnt receive a good review as the battery needs 2 recharge for a day usage according to the Max IT mags and also the price.

Most importantly the Pixon has large pixel size and ratio even though it has a large screen. Most probably attributed to the low resolution display.

Actually both Pixon and Renoir uses Flash UI they are using quite the same engine underneath but different on the user interface layer.

I just purchase this phone last week at Singapore price SGD$ 715.00

It is a pretty decent phone, good respond UI, and not lagging like F480 anymore.

I choose Samsung Pixon rather than LG Renoir because Renoir is lagging and less respond and Viewty really make a bad impression for me. Viewty do take good photo but it needs to have a technique to snap.

I highly recommended this phone if you plan to get a good decent 8Mega Pixel camera phone and WiFi is not an important issue.

I have made a simple camera review in my blog. IF you are interesting, you may goto my blog to check out.

I would like to further add that a lot of local distributors are doing that. Look at all the HTC models, you can basically get an original one cheaper by at least a few hundred across the causeway.
boo to the taxes here.. but on the other hand, Nokia models do not differ by much.
