QUOTE(Seaedge @ Dec 12 2008, 01:18 PM) erm... singapore already available.. but for the price like that.. i think LG renoir have a upper hand on the price.. After all LG Renoir has the WIFI function and about the same imaging quality. It will debut this Christmas I believe, so first to market.

Saw the Samsung Pixon M8800 for real this time at today's PC Fair. Nothing special. Its actually a better Samsung F480/Tocco. Something I feel what the F480 should be in the first place. The widgets are smoother and more responsive. Generally the UI has been improved a lot. However, the springy effect and smoothness is no go compared to LG Renoir. I think the reviewers are correct, the LG Renoir is perhaps the most 'Apple' like when it comes to fluidity in the UI transitions and scrolling effect.
Imaging however is excellent. Colors stay true even in difficult conditions. The price however is slightly over the edge at RM2388. Probably the 'just launched' excuse.

QUOTE(Seaedge @ Dec 15 2008, 05:29 AM) RM2388? that is a steep pricetag... any words on the package? or special promotion to go with that RM2388?.. any extra memory, pouch, digital frame or special voucher? Didn't ask for much. I overheard that they will provide a 8GB memory card for it. The phone looks pretty thick actually but the screen size good enough. Then again, although it has a high resolution display, somehow the UI gave me an impression that the pixel size is big making it look rather dull. Believe me, you got to see it for yourself. Anyway, its a feature phone and the price has just made my choice easier. Skipping this one. LG Renoir next.

QUOTE(wacko @ Dec 20 2008, 08:38 AM) last week bought the Samsung Pixon in Singapore during a business visit there. The price is reasonably good there at S$750 equivalent to about RM1800. What really suprise right here our local samsung distributor, FMG has exorbitantly put the price tag at RM2300++ for this model. A different about RM500 across the causeway. I did checked on SamsungInnov model there and the price is just about our price here at S$1150 which about RM2,800. Is FMG really going for killing on Samsung Pixon here????? FMG is like that one. New models they price very high. Then realize sales are very cold and demand loosing, then they devalue the product significantly. Just see the number of concept stores they are closing. The rate is very fast. They now totally rely on distributors and resellers for the sales driving. Tells you a lot about their management and sales strategy. At the same time, we can't compare with Singaporean goods. They could have been subsidized and tax structured differently than in Malaysia. They could have the price advantage due to this. While FMG knows they are the only company holding the brand and they know their monopoly. Thats why price competition is just not there. FYI, the INNOV8 8GB could be bought at RM2700 as I read from this forum.

QUOTE(Lineage @ Dec 22 2008, 11:11 AM) this phone running what OS? Its a Samsung proprietary OS. Its not like what we see on Nokia, HTC smartphones. However, it does support J2ME or JAVA application so you can install games and applications. You just need to find the right ones compatible for Samsung.

Most importantly the Pixon has large pixel size and ratio even though it has a large screen. Most probably attributed to the low resolution display.
Actually both Pixon and Renoir uses Flash UI they are using quite the same engine underneath but different on the user interface layer.
