Hi guys, I got about 26 of market apps installed ^^;
Some of them I hardly use, however quite handy when need them such as Flash, GPS status, Barcode scanner....

How many market apps have u installed on ur G1?

Yay, Singtel is launching HTC Dream sale tomolo --> Singtel HTC Dream (G1) ^^

Hopefully more G1/Dream accessories from them.

This is real bad!! Some of the useful apps are being taken away from the "free" market..... or being moved to "paid" market??

For those who have ori RC33 or rooted RC33, you may adjust "change view" in the Market to see paid apps/free apps/ all items.

For ADP1.1 rooted/ori, no luck, is being filtered from "copy right protected" apps. - here

Magic will be available in Europe by third quarter of 2009, heard NZ also going to get it soon.
Definitely there will be parallel import unless HTC Malaysia is aware that there is a small group of Androidian asking for Magic to happen. ^^;
Yes, you are rite, Android is an open source but yet Google still force-patched all the root access started from RC30. It's not as open as RC29 lor!

Actually i have nv been so happy with a phone b4.. Guess if the new firmware come out, G1 will be that powerful.. Hope those small little bugs will go away!! G1 Forever!!

Ha..ha...the reason I'm asking is wanted to find out any special kernel in the Singtel firmware (RC8) that enable regional features such as seeing paid apps in the market ^^

Ha..ha..because some Singtel users complaining no cupcake and even got some minor bugs, they are asking in XDA forum whether can flash to RC33 or not ^^;
What he meant is the "ap" G1 in Malaysia is not really an ap, they are just parallel imported by individuals (not really a company like CSL) to sell in here, some even don't come with any personal "ap" warranty, buy at your own risk.

To lek: Actually quite risky also to have our G1 rooted, security concerns, especially all ur info is attached to gmail account. Dangerous, but fun lah ^^

To Opera33: go and grab task manager for roots, and start killing those unwanted apps running in the background draining ur battery. If u have 3G data plan, u may start using tether ur G1 using ur lappie. Turn ur G1 to a little wifi modem.

SUPER TIP

If any of u guys don't want to use the 3G/EDGE that is always connected in G1, there is this simple method to disable it.

Just go to Setting>Wireless Controls>Mobile networks>Access point Names>(select ur APN)Digi>APN>(delete 1 letter) ie:Diginet become Digine and then save.

Thats it, the EDGE/3G logo will disappear from top but u can still make calls.

If you need to use EDGE/3G just follow the instruction but add back the letter u deleted.

* works with DIGI, not sure about Maxis and Celcom

You may use APNdroid from the Market, serve the same purpose, just more GUI user friendly.

i have wifi at home and campus. plus even most of the mamak shops also offer free wifi now. so don't wan to spend extra RM30 on EDGE.

I wonder if the Penang government is going ahead with island wide free wifi project or not, if they do then it will be the best place to use this phone.lol

Yah..yah!! Better stock urself up with an extra battery or extended battery pack, like me ^^;

If any Digi user got problem setting up mms in, this is the setting:

APN : digimms
Username & Password : mms
MMSC : mms.digi.com.my/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy : 203.92.128.160
MMS Port : 80
MCC : 502
MNC : 16

If you only want to use the mms and not the EDGE, then you can create new APN and key in this info;then u can delete your old APN. If u wanna use  both then just merge this setting to your old APN.

Thanks grazy for your help in setting up the mms. By the way have you solved the qweky sound from your G1 coz unfortunately now my G1 have started giving the sound as well. Hope you can let me know how to stop the sound if you have found the way. Thanks in advance.
I wanna ask fellow G1 users if you guys have tried the Invisible Shield from US. I'm thinking of buying one for my phone. My G1 already have a screen protector but I'm looking to protect my whole phone from scratches but I don't like the bulky protectors.

Yah, regarding the squeky sound, almost forgot to put this up here. For more info you may follow this thread here. There are few methods, some quite intrusive (permanent shaving) however some quite easy to follow also (involve patching only).

The following hack is the most comfortable to me as I just mounted a tiny piece of the soft-side velcrow on the side near SDcard cap

The author of the youtube is using felt, some kind of craft cloth like this:

Which i think quite thick & hard to trim, and you have to apply glue on it in order to mount. Messy leh!

the velcro I'm talking about is something like this :

We can get the sticky velcro easily from the craft shop or ACE hardware.
Use the loops (soft-side), you may also trim those loops to ur liking ^^

Thanks for the info. Did the shield started peeling off at the edges? Is there any other options? Wat are you using now to protect your G1?

Yah-rei...yah-rei.... some leisure review reading on Singapore HTC Dream (Singtel Unit).

I noticed that the qwerty keyboard color is in blue color.
The 'HTC' wordings rather than our 'T-Mobile' near the speaker. Wonder why not 'Singtel" eh??
The whole qwerty keyboard is glossy type.
Ha..ha...and the front panel 4-buttons are in the same color neh (light blue) ^^;
