Hmm! this is kind of weird! I'm suspecting that your G1 is running kind of low memory that is why crashed the Dxtop so often.
Ok, try to revert the Home screen back to original by clearing default at settings-->appliaction-->dxtop-->clear default.
Monitor for a few days ^^, in the meanwhile try out the GPS also, hopefully it is due to the memory issue.

you mean using trackball to defined a place(point) and ask the maps route it for you without searching?
Oh! Not that expensive. In Feb, a LYN seller quoted me about RM~88 for 8GB@class6 and ~55 for 4GB@class6.

The G1/HTC Dream like any recent HTC WinMo devices are equipped with more RAM than before. It has 192MB of RAM compared to previous generations which is more like 64/128MB. Of course now we have RAMs up to 288MB but those are ultra high end. On the Android OS (which is what our device runs on and the very reason for all this excitement) uses RAM a little differently from WinMo.

It attempts to populate the RAM as much as it can and dynamically manage the levels of RAM for each program on the fly. This is what I have noticed. Only 96MB of the 192MB of RAM is available to user programs (the remaining 96 I believe is for the OS). On average, it has about 20-30MB of RAM free after a full restart (70% utilization). Each additional program uses a small 10-20kB of RAM. Of course most of the chunks are already loaded in the RAM.

Multi-tasking isn't really a problem because if there's insufficient memory, Android will shut down programs in the background and save its last active state. When the program is recalled, it'll restore its last active state like nothing ever happened. Of course, certain high priority programs will not be shut down. In summary, it is a new way in managing memory.

However, if you plan to use this Android OS for some very serious business maybe that time has not arrive yet. Don't get me wrong, it already has a solid platform and foundation. But its not really as equipped or matured as mainstream mobile OS available now. For example, there's no storage management, no bluetooh data transfer, no video recording, etc. Its solely a good internet centric phone for now and damn good in messaging. If thats all you need, its a no brainer.

I have tried the method, but the India yahoo pop3 still not working for my gmail. It doesn't pull the yahoo mail.
Can i change the servers to other country like Singapore and Canada?

Yeah lor... white glossy is very nice. Somemore its not prone to finger prints (I mean not so noticeable). Actually there's a minor improvement done on the G1. It had its 4 keys and touch button re-arranged in larger buttons. Pretty slick I would say.

The white one available for T-Mobile is the same one. However, there's one available in another telco in Europe and it has the so called 'face-lift' for both the black and white version. I don't think it'll reach here.

White is better too cause it has no 'creaks' like the blacks we're using now.

There are many news saying Flashlite is coming to Android, but all are rumor.
The latest one is here. Don't even mention when the final product will be available also.  really kill joy.

Its Flash Lite and it allows your browser to display all the visual contents available. Currently it cannot support Flash so some fancy websites will not work. There won't be animations, interfaces and etc. Some people call it (Flash/Java) the Web 2.0. Our browser is incomplete now without Flash and Java support.

Sorry ya! Don't know the price range for HTC Dream, but Spec/visual (diff) yes, you may check back few pages back ^^;

Yes, G1 will work with prepaid plan, just make sure to tune the data services on/off to your liking.

Garmin maps is not available for Android, period. But it's built-in with Google maps ^^, although it's lack of turn by turn navigation yet its still versatile and plenty room to improve

I suggest to call Singtel and find out who/where they are sending thier Dream get serviced! ^^; Just pretend you are their customer loh.
There is a HTC service centre at Keppel Bay Tower, may be can give them a buzz also.

Go and test out the Dream ^^; before you make up ur mind.
I'm sure you will be surprised with Android OS - simple yet versatile.

So have to make sure that the hardware works before paying up. The software however can be fixed. Just a matter of time of learning the software tricks. I believe software/firmware related issues are easier to manage because you'll get it fixed sooner or later.

Grazy is right because the risks involved aren't higher than buying an iPhone from other than Maxis. Some iPhone 2G users ran into capacitive touchscreen problems (portions of screen dead) and they had nowhere to turn to. Problem is that you can't get people to fix it even if you want to pay for it. Lucky, we got Singapore just next door. Can pay a trip down to get it fixed. Or we can just call it a day and another excuse for something new.

For me... I always manually set a location. That is my office. Gives people the impression that I'm always working.

I like to see my families/friends/buddies on the maps, even though it might no accurate. 
^^; In your maps --> Latitude --> click your avatar --> edit privacy setting --> set your location --> select point on map / search map --> tap on the maps --> done !!

Why hard reset?

Anyway my G1 has been running for 2 weeks + and still going strong! Occasionally it'll hang and force close itself and then it'll magically restore itself along with its previous state.     

He..he... Have you give your droid a bit longer to logon those satellites? ~15 minutes from a cold start? ^^;

Anyhow let me know when you ready to factory reset lah!

Yeah, think the cheapest data plan is DIGI (EDGE).
