not really that kind  of twisting you had in mind. PU is the material used to make your OEM front bumper, rear bumper and side skirts. Where it sorta 'elastic' where you can push or bend it a little. Whilst FRP or Fiber is strong and it is impossible to bend it a little. If you bend it too hard, it'll just breaks.

Thanks for your explanation:respect:

for best bang for the buck, get PU. Its elastic. Not easily broken. Unlike FRP.

but yeah, PU is expensive than FRP thou.

PU is obviously better.
Difference is a little.

They'll choose PU, for sure UNLESS they want to custom, then they've no choice.

ABS is higher grade than PU. ABS is soft and fragile.

Original kit (such as MUGEN, Modulo, Toyota OEM kit, etc) uses ABS. Some of them (Spoon, J's Racing, ABT, etc) use FRP.

ABS is the stuff used to make OEM bumper, not PU... LOL.. I wouldn't buy a car using OEM PU made bumper.. must be a cheap sh1t car to use PU as OEM bumper..biggrin.gif

for "beautification" purpose like sideskirts and "aero parts" either one should be fine, not as main load/impact bearing structure..

how can PU be stronger than FRP? LOL... there is a difference between "strength" and "flexibility".. both are different engineering qualities..

more details here... cheers.

yeah, my mazda '8 kit uses ABS plastic, the advantages are that is dimensionally consistent per molded part while flexible enuf to withstand impact/scrapings over speedbumps/side kerbs (of coz the paint will gone case... sad.gif ) ..
but the high pressure injection mould costs are high so mass production quantities are required to amortize the mould cost..

while FRP has very low mould costs but dimensions are not as accurate, depends alot on the guy preping the surface for final paint/finish...
and also, is more rigid hence, may "crack" under stress or being flexed. I guess it's lighter weight than plastics like ABS...

PU, that;s poor man's ABS replacement, more flexible than FRP (but not as strong as ABS) but the outcome will depend on on the mould's workmanship.. maybe decent looks or may be crap appearance...similar to FRP also, installer dependent quality..

juz my 2 cents cheers.. biggrin.gif

Are you guys absolutely positive that most of our cars OEM bumper are made of ABS?
I wouldn't think so, though.
AFAIK, most of our OEM bumper are made of PP, Polypropylene. I'm sure of this because mine is made of PP.

And a correction for Modulo kit for Honda, they are all made of PP, not el-cheapo ABS. I'm not sure bout Mugen and others though.
