My advice is to not use the monitor with your pc and ps3 on at the same time. Use one at a time and as Noysan said, set your monitor to auto detect.

It's been serving me well smile.gif

hey i have the same problem...it seems the problem occured when I moved my s2409w to my friend's apartment to hook up to VGA. when i brought the PS3 home again and hooked it up to HDMI, the monitor doesn't recognize the PS3...the monitor detects an HDMI connection but there's no display. very strange.

last time this happened I was messing around with the HDMI settings. Even when I did the hold-down-turn-on to reset the video settings for the PS3, there was still no video. i thought it was the PS3's problem so i tried it on my friend's LCD TV and did the same thing to auto-detect the HDMI connection and it worked!. after moving it back to my s2409w, it worked again!

so basically, i'm not sure whether it's the PS3's problem or the s2409w problem.

does anyone know if it needs a firmware update?

This is problem is bound to happen if your set-up is not stationary and always connect the PS3 to different system. It's a handshaking thingy.. Video setting reset-up will always solve this problem.. smile.gif

you can actually just directly connect your ps3 straight to your sound system, without going through the monitor. no fadeout problems there.

Maybe try asking around in Dell's forums. I found this thread there http://en.community.dell.com/forums/p/19241208/19415611.aspx

GOD BLESS YOU FOR YOUR LINK.

i got my ps3 today thinking...hmmm lets play games. Setup was fine, everything is normal no problem....HDMI all ok. Then suddenly black screen on my S2409W. Google, panic, seems some ppl have the problem but not solvable. Hard reset also no help. Turn off monitor also no help...until i read the link above....

UNPLUG YOUR MONITOR, THEN RESET PS3 (hold down power button until 2nd beep when turning on)

Problem solved.....for now.

Its a SONY. doh.gif
