Just asking whom have the Dell S2409W play with PS3 connected to the PC LCD monitor using HDMI-DVI converter?

How's the quality of the picture & sound compare to PS3 direct connect to HDMI PC LCD monitor?

Because I'm planning to buy...
*
Why use HDMI-DVI connector when you can use HDMI-HDMI cable?? rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

I am still waiting for mine..I ordered this online.. But base on the review done by Hwaorang5 its pretty good.. I'll evaluate it for you dude when I received mine.. nod.gif nod.gif

BTW, here's some setting I found on the previous thread, maybe this will help..

for
pc on dvi
brightness = 35
contrast = 96
input colour format = RGB
mode selection = grahpics
preset mode = warm

ps3 on hdmi
brightness = 30
contrast = 90
input colour format = RGB
mode selection = video
preset mode = nature

i have a question here -

if i connect my PS3 to this monitor (DELL S2409W) using HDMI cable, the HDMI cable will only transmit the image to the monitor, but not the sound right? so how should i connect the sound (say if i buy a set of speakers)

thinking of buying this monitor.. its about RM1100 now at dell website.
*
Nope!! It has sound. Just connect the HDMI cable and plug your speaker on the audio out connector located at the back. You may need a good set of speaker though..

mine is altech lansing: drool.gif drool.gif It's really nice playing at full volume.. cool.gif cool.gif

Does yours have the "fade-in" problem with HDMI audio?
*
"fade in" as in every time the monitor is powered up or a game is loaded there is no sound present and after a few seconds the sound becomes audible...?? yeah I do have that kind of problem.. biggrin.gif

Its really not a big issue for me though since the fade in happen during the intro or loading screen but once you get to the main menu the sound started to "sync"...

Have you ask the costumer support on this coz I'm planning to do??? hmm.gif hmm.gif

I've not asked customer support yet ...
*
I'll ask them later..I need to check my service tag number first..
It may be HDMI handshaking issue between the console and the monitor which we can't do anything.. blush.gif

Try using your AV cable for sound instead, if you have the right connector..

It's probably not a HDMI handshaking issue as the problem happens to both PS3 and XBox360 which does not occur with LCD TVs. The audio fade-in may happen in any part of a game or movie which has audio silence for more than 3 seconds. You can test this by playing a music file and pause for more than 3 seconds before resuming.
*
I'll try it later and do some investigation wink.gif wink.gif ... I don't have any music file on my PS3.. doh.gif doh.gif

hmm funny i have the same problem too. A lag of about 5 seconds before the sounds actually come up.

No problem for the normal red and white wires, but i feel the hdmi output sounds better. Or issit just me?
*
Seems that I too have the same issue.. sweat.gif sweat.gif

It looks like a power saving option of the monitor.. hmm.gif hmm.gif It detects when there is no sound present then goes on a power save mode then goes back again after 3-5 sec when it detects an audio... which explain why when a music file is played and then paused for a longer period and played again an audio lag is encountered... Now, I am beginning to sound like a private investigator.. doh.gif doh.gif

Better ask technical support for this... icon_question.gif icon_question.gif

Is your PS3 still functioning??? If so you need to do a hard reset on your PS3 and do the visual settings once again..
It happens to me a couple of times..

my ps3 still functioning i tried with other lcd no problem.
sigh..

then you need to do a hard reset.
set first your monitor video input to auto detect.
hold the power button of PS3 till you hear a beep. Ur PS3 should auto detect the connection then follow whats on the screen..
I suspect the connection between PS3 and monitor are somehow having problem that is why you need to set-up again. Like I told you,, it happen to me twice now and it's been a month now,, I still haven't encountered this issue. smile.gif

This is problem is bound to happen if your set-up is not stationary and always connect the PS3 to different system. It's a handshaking thingy.. Video setting reset-up will always solve this problem.. smile.gif
