Very funny, but could this means that DiGi is also finally rolling out their 3G system?

Anyone having this problem? My Dopod 838Pro seems to be acting erratically this morning. Ever since turn on, it'll show DiGi (with EDGE logo on top of screen) as normal for a while. Then suddenly change to UMTS DiGi (with 3G logo on top of screen) for one or two seconds, then no signal. Then after a while, it goes back to DiGi with EDGE logo. It'll then be normal for a few minutes before suddenly repeating 3G for one second->No signal for a while->Normal.
Very funny, but could this means that DiGi is also finally rolling out their 3G system? This post has been edited by RAMChYLD: Sep 15 2008, 11:21 AM |

yup...3g is already in DiGi's pipeline already..
or your problem could be affected by today's start for MNP (mobile number portability).. |

Well, at least it's starting to show result. In the form of interference on my Phone
I called DiGi customer care. They admit that they're testing 3G, apologized and asked me to try to live with it. They say the offer will only start next year, beginning with Broadband services. But cool leh, 3G! Finally can use my phone to make video calls This post has been edited by RAMChYLD: Sep 15 2008, 11:34 AM |

hey hey......digi rolling out 3g....thats good news....
perhaps soon enough.... wonder how much would the charges be.......since digi had to pay premium price to get its 3g licence via buying time... surely they would have to recoup their investment somehow..... |

QUOTE(lynxs @ Sep 15 2008, 01:31 PM) Because DiGi is the only operator without 3G, therefore they always try to compete with the other operator to gain customer's trust by giving the lowest price since lack of 3G is their drawback. If DiGi were to have 3G, I'm afraid they wont be as good as what they offers now because all the operator equally having 3G and they dont have to provide the cheapest rate as they have 3G and people who need 3G wont change to other operator already. At the same time the name that they have built for the pass few years will increase the number of customer if they roll out 3G. However how goood will the rate be in future since they have so many customers already ? I doubt they will go cheapest to get more customer like what Maxis/Hotlink did for the pass few years. |

I think that the only reason that digi's 3G would be more expensive is that they had to spend more to get the licence and as such would have to recoup their investment by transferring some of the costs to the consumer. But this is all theoretical at this point. We can keep on speculating, but we will have to see when the roll out the first of their 3G offerings. |

Yes, the most significant time was when DiGi didnt get the licence in year 2004, they start rolling out EDGE to dominate the mobile internet with Nokia 6230. After that when maxis and celcom started 3G. DiGi started to reduce their rate to the max and whenever maxis or celcom comes out with a plan, DiGi will comeout one slightly better.
However lets just hope DiGi dont transfer the cost to the consumer/subscriber~ |

you must understand who runs the show inside DIGI. Who runs the show in MAXIS AND CELCOM.
I TRUST DIGI WILL STILL GIVES US THE BEST. DIGI IS RUN BY A TELNOR ISSIT OR A GERMAN GUY. MAXIS AND CELCOM IS RUN BY MALAYSIAN. So it will be different even when maxis and celcom without DIGI 3G they still offer the best This post has been edited by aspire2oo6: Sep 21 2008, 12:07 AM |

QUOTE(ViRaViRa @ Sep 22 2008, 07:56 PM) U guys sure or not? I am using Maxis 64k sim (2G sim) & I can easily make video call, access 3G network & even surf at 3.5G wor what colour is your sim card? is it the purple one? or the light bluish kinda colour?because maxis has been supplying 3g simcards to new subscribers for some time, its just the old subscribers who have had to change their sim. |

Maybe DiGi's 128K simcards will be able to access the 3G network. They have started issuing 128K simcards of late. |

QUOTE(evocom @ Sep 26 2008, 01:20 PM) DO you know why government delay Digi 3G service? The government considered Digi to be unfair competition for Celcom and Maxis because Digi used merit-based system instead of cronyism for promotions and contracts. |

From Wikipedia:
Digi is prohibited on the 3G and 4G broadband services as Malaysia laws require majority stake in the Bumiputera Status despite it being an MSC Company. Sucks to invest in Malaysia huh? |

the government had give all the 3G license to other operators and the emergence of U-mobile in the industry do not seem plays a role for now, but however should the situations remain as it is now....after 50 years of time, digi market share will be eventually grab by U-mobile, Maxis and celcom...that is my guess...it is because due to the non-3G operations and after 50 years where many youngsters without any preferences of brands will not reject U-Mobile like many of us do

Like someone leaked the info bout new nintendo DSi and I sold my Nintendo DS lite 1 week before, luckily not much depreciation. ok enough with off topic, stick with DiGi 3G. GIVE US 3G ASAP! |

QUOTE(stratocaster @ Oct 5 2008, 05:13 PM) if u really work at DiGi u should know that you should not spread any information about the company anywhere at all and it does not matter whether it is true or false...have a look at your agreement...you dont want someone from HR to know that you are showing off n leaking info here just to let ppl know you are working at DiGi... I shall not argue. I didn't spill any beans. What i told was just general info, nothing in specific. Time will tell if its mere speculation.please dont comment anything else about 3G..only marketing and top mgmt can comment about it...and doesnt matter if your friend is building whatever 3g power station u should not share it here... anyway..ur info is totally wrong... please stop speculating here and posting info for your own good and the company's too... They would have to work all this through and then only widen their coverage. Our concern is, will it be implemented nationwide or phase-by-phase? Usually Peninsular and the East do not enjoy the same pace of technology advancement, no offence to the Eastern. |

If can be the same rate as my current FnF rate for my DG 50 voice call = RM 0.10/minute will be better. If D' Campus allows its users for unlimited video calls after RM 1.00 of video calls/day, it should be then unbeatable rate! Oh my, I'm dreaming... |

Added on October 10, 2008, 1:39 am haha most of my friends got the same view with u QUOTE(fruitie @ Oct 10 2008, 01:40 AM) As for my case, one of my best friends resides permanently in Kuching, Sarawak and we meet very seldom. normally, and mostly will be phase by phase, even nationwide it will be focus on some main cities, as there is risk trying to give all access to the subscribers, system how to support so many subscriber? later kong more cham.. We keep in touch only via calls, SMS-es, MMS-es and instant messengers. Of course web-caming too. We are looking forward to 3G video call. Hopefully, it is cheaper for FnF. Our concern is, will it be implemented nationwide or phase-by-phase? Usually Peninsular and the East do not enjoy the same pace of technology advancement, no offence to the Eastern. But few months back DiGi seem focus on Sabah & Sarawak area... QUOTE(fruitie @ Oct 10 2008, 01:59 AM) Yes, I agree. All my Sarawakian friends are using DiGi and they said DiGi is more popular in Sarawak. Oh please, let it launch nationwide rather than concentrating to a specific place. Slow and steady is safe.. QUOTE(mengsuan @ Oct 10 2008, 03:02 AM) current video call charge for Max!s also same as voice call, so it should be possible.. QUOTE(fruitie @ Oct 10 2008, 03:24 AM) Yes, RM 0.15/minute for video calls is already considered good. If can be the same rate as my current FnF rate for my DG 50 voice call = RM 0.10/minute will be better. haha..rm1 seem a bit low...how DiGi going to earn more, and invest more, then provide better service with that? If D' Campus allows its users for unlimited video calls after RM 1.00 of video calls/day, it should be then unbeatable rate! Oh my, I'm dreaming... QUOTE(llmcso @ Oct 10 2008, 09:17 AM) i think your dream can be reality after they launch 3G....there is nothing DiGi couldnt do Yea, DiGi -> Always the smarter choice anyway, they are watching us, so hoping DiGi will fulfill your dream!! QUOTE(uhlaw @ Oct 10 2008, 12:42 PM) Once DiGi launches 3G service, I wish DiGi can provide free 3G data service for 1 year! haiya....impossible la Me 2, but seem possible only with supplementary data SIM card (such as current EDGE) |

looking forward to the 3G.
But with 3G introduction in DIgi, will the coverage improve? It should right, due to more places have 3G coverage. Confused here coz i suppose digi signal spectrum will still remain the same? |

Digi 3G might launched before March 2009. Hopefully it's true. Have stayed as a Digi user for almost 10years now. But I don't think Digi 3G will be cheap as they have thrown alot into getting their license. So even if it's 0.3/cents will also be considered reasonable.

I think only DiGi Postpaid in Klang Valley areas can detect DiGi's 3G signal frm now. |

Just wanna complain why KK gets 3G first before Klang Valley. Surely, the customer base in KK isn't anywhere nearly as big as in Klang Valley right?

Perhaps more demand in Klang Valley. That's why need more time to make sure everything is working ok before launching.

I dropped by Digi Centre last week while doing my Christmas shopping in KL, just give our number the agent, then can jalan jalan already, switch off our mobile for 5min, then *holla* can 3G with friends already.
So far my 3G line reception in KL was good. Doesn't make any different with other mobile operator How is Malacca Digi 3g ? does anyone mind to share/try before? Thanks *or else, just call Digi Customer Service, they'll activate for u |
