I dont find the eSATA function useful at all. Since it's combo with USB port. Most of time i plug at my external HDD only.

QUOTE(super_evil_alien @ Sep 22 2008, 07:25 PM) Just bought Compaq CQ40-115AU today.Installed win xp.But after installing all the drivers from page 1,still have 6 unknown driver.Anyone knows whats the drivers are? Card Reader, Bluetooth, 56k Modem port... These could be the missing drivers. My suggestion is try install using Vista driver from my CQ45-129TX model. Here's the link:http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...product=3767663 Reason is most the parts used in AMD and Intel laptop are common. I believe Card reader, Bluetooth, 56k Modem port are same too. And Vista drivers work on XP. I have seen that before. You may give it a shot. Let us know the result. If it doesn't work, remove it lor... In addition, I also suggest you try install: - AMD USB Filter Driver, http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...product=3791934 These are found from CQ40-115AU Vista driver page. It could solve some problems too. Perhaps? This post has been edited by cloud9_lee: Sep 22 2008, 08:00 PM |

QUOTE(ah_fei78 @ Sep 22 2008, 10:19 AM) anyone using Q40-115AU and installed windows XP? how u resolve the function key brightness adjustment issue(cant work in XP, no effect after click on the Fn+brightness up and brightness down key). and the buildin microphone is not working in windows XP also? any solution? thank you very much. First time heard such problem on XP. To me i dunno how to solve it as the new CQ Series are optimized for Vista. Even couldn't find official support drivers on HP website too. My suggestion is to call HP Customer Service Toll Free Number 1800 888 588. Flame them kao kao. Ask for solution. Then post the solution here OHHH.... Have you installed the HP QUICK LAUNCH PROGRAM? Here's the newer version: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...product=3767663 Let us know if it works! This post has been edited by cloud9_lee: Sep 22 2008, 08:23 PM |

QUOTE(haxe @ Sep 24 2008, 11:58 PM) how about 3gb? is it possbile if we use 32bit OS? Vista SP1 all can detect 4gb RAM liao.. no worry. Added on September 24, 2008, 11:59 pm how about 3GB? Is it possible with 32bit OS? If 1 + 2 = 3gb RAM it will not run Dual Channel Mode only. But then according to Tomshardware.com research, Dual Channel mode only provide very very very very very very little performance improvement only. Added on September 25, 2008, 11:48 am QUOTE(super_evil_alien @ Sep 25 2008, 04:38 AM) For now I can only help you with question 3 and 4. My last laptop Acer can turn off the screen by pressing Fn + F5 (or F6). Apparently such good function is not available in Compaq lappy. Sad...3)You don't have to install AMD SATA Driver. You only have to sliptream the achi driver from Raid7(something like that) folder. 4)Read here.http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows/resolving-setup-did-not-find-any-hard-disk-drives-during-windows-xp-installation/ Nobody have found solution for the screen brightness. You can try installing some of the vista drivers in xp but when I tried that, still left 6 unknown drivers. QUOTE(santana @ Sep 28 2008, 12:25 PM) I also just get myself a CQ40...altho with 3gb ram but stil abit lagging when open applications using vista..tats sumtin we hav to live with it unless someone successfully using XP without any problems n complications... =p I was using my Vista Ultimate with unlimited updates running on 2gb RAM, If you dont run RAM intensive programs like Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc. It should work fine and fast. I dont see any lagging at all. However I am now with 4gb RAM because I need to rip some videos. Difference between Home Premium and Ultimate it has slightly more features like Dreamscene, etc. I dont think it would consume a significant system resources (maybe only extra 5%?). Microsoft segregates to different vista versions so they could fetch extra price premium. I believe the problem is caused by ur unstable Vista version? Try to get a new copy and do a clean install. If you dont know where to get, PM me. |

QUOTE(Zibel @ Oct 1 2008, 03:16 PM) Same on my 107TX, FYI I had some problems and took the hard drive out (booted with USB flash drive) and it still gets warm there with no hard drive ! So its not just the hard disk that's causing it. Mine is CQ45-129TX. No problem on the keyboard. Something else I noticed is the keyboard flexes a lot when using keys around the 'X' key area, maybe just my big fingers Anyone else notice this? If your keyboard bends down at X area, probably it's mechanical defect, call HP to ask if it's covered by warranty? Taking out HDD might void the warranty le.. will it? hehe |
