was wondering if i could upgrade my RAM to ddr3 1066..as i am now using 3g ddr 667 on my cq20 125 which i transplanted from my old toshiba..on a another note, read on the compaq hk website that this machine has wifi b/g/n..is this true?? advise needed thanks..

RAM upgrade of course possible... but only DDR2 1066. DDR3 Ram is not compatible.

Yes all CQ series come with Wifi B/G/N.

Given your new CQ series lappy, actually the best is paired with Vista + 4gb ram.

go for processor P e.g. P8400 or 8600 series. Those are new series with 3MB cache and supports up to 1066 mhz FSB.

my CQ45-129TX is P8600. 2.4Ghz. hehe.

Go to HP authorized dealer shop and see what variety they have...

There's 1 in Mid Valley.

The DOS-like splash screen when u start laptop.

flash for 1 second (the auto-loading OS menu) then 5 seconds (the codes running), then continue loading with Windows d.

my fren juz got her new cq20-213tu, preinstalled with vista ahem..yet she thought it is kinda slow for her..i suggest 4 her 2 change into xp..bt still i wondering about the driver for dis laptop..told her already bout adding 1gb ram to her original 1gb and continue using vista, but its not an option for her rite now..so anyone can help with the driver?
*
I tell ya. 2gb ram can run Vista smoothly.

If 4gb it will be working great!

XP u gotta go through all hassles finding the drivers.

But whatever driver applicable for Vista, can be used at XP too (90% chance).

I'm planning to buy the CQ20-213TU but I have heard that the T5800 processor will suck away the 4-cell battery on it. Has anyone experience short battery life on this laptop?

the ventilation hole the hot air blows directly at your right hand side (mouse area), I dont really like the air ventilation design.

I'm using CQ40-133AX.
I just upgrade to 800Mhz 2Gb x 2.
Why am I getting blue screen?
Is it compatible?
It was running fine before the upgrade.
*
it could be memory problem.

My company just bought a CQ40-324TU for me. Is it freedos, so I installed win xp on this laptop, every driver is ok except UAA driver and sound driver, When I installed sound driver, then it is functioning. But after I reboot my laptop, sound driver missing and I need to update UAA driver 1st and new hardware found, then I install sound driver again. Anyone can help me on this problem? Thanks in advance.

Install with Vista is the best. No incompatible driver problem. CQ series is made primarily for Vista. smile.gif

Jz get a Vista Home Basic / Premium ori version since it's meant for corporate use.

Search LYN... for many ppl selling Vista original.

Send back to HP service centre is a wise choice. biggrin.gif

Luckily my CQ lappy is under On-site service warranty. Means HP engineer will come to service the lappy at my house.
