4850 is the same exact chip as 4870 already. Same SP, same architecture. Just different memory and different clock speed. No need to unlock lol.

It is gonna take sometime for 8.11 to release though =/ Meh, no proper optimization for FC2 and RA3 until then.

QUOTE(AMDAthlon @ Oct 23 2008, 12:46 PM) Well yeah..AMD Driver is bit slower than nVidia.. 8.13? 9.1 already man 8.11 should be released in Mid November thou.. I think 8.13 should optimized these games : FC2 RA3 NFS Undercover COD5 and many more.. Wonder what's up in nvidia's sleeves. Hmm, getting beaten so badly lol. They better come back so we consumers can enjoy fast + cheap ATi GC |

Yea, if VPU recover kicks in it means your GC is unstable.
GRID isn't putting as much load as Crysis onto the card which would explain why VPU recover did not occur. |

QUOTE(OmniAtlas @ Oct 25 2008, 12:12 PM) hey guys, I have a 4850, running catalyst 8.10 with the fan at manual ~55 %. My idle temps still hover around 74 degrees, is this normal? Reference card? (I doubt it is toxic, toxic's fan can't be controlled anyways.)When I first got the card and did the speed hack, I got it down to around 60 degrees, I don't know why its suddenly so hot. Perhaps its the Malaysian weather. I have the sapphire 4850. Sudden increase 14C? @@ Since you said you were able to get it down to 60C before is kinda weird. |

Yes, 8.10 is the latest official driver right now. (I think the FC2 hotfix one newer though, look at the numberings of the file.).

^ Maybe. Probably require some voltage tweaking. There is a reason why there is normal mode and turbo mode. Probably different voltage values. < Can anyone confirm this?
