there are some reason why they required users to be verified by their staff first.. because there a lot of fraud made by users, for example signing up using other people IC without permission of the IC owner..

eventhough u provide mykad during registration.. but the mykad only verify by their dealer, and their dealer dont qualify to verify it on behalf celcom since they're not celcom staff.. and celcom only receive the photocopy of your mykad..

so that is why user (the original mykad owner) need to come to celcom branches (not celcom dealer), with their mykad, and must be shown to the celcom staff in order to verified.

can i port from DIGI to UOX and at the same time upgrade to 3G service? Can anyone list out the 3G package tht provides by Celcom?
*
yup, you can port from digi to uox
yup, you can upgrade to 3g service at the same time.. then you may start using 3g service such as video call, internet, etc..

there is no special 3g internet package for prepaid uox, all data service will be charge base on pay per use 10sen/10kb.

however there a daily unlimited package for internet access (it cost u rm6 each time you request this package, then you may surf unlimited for the next 24hours upon your request succesful)

note: i heard rumours that new internet package for prepaid (will be available next month), it called weekly unlimited package at only rm20 per week. same as daily unlimited package, you have to request it first (by sms, or *118#) before start surfing..

I have one doubt. I know credit wont expire till 26 but does that also include air time validity? Or still follow like the RM10 for 10 days validity?
*
credit not expire here mean airtime validity lah.. your credit is valid to be used till you're 26 years old.

with normal airtime validity, reload rm10 can be use 7 days only. but if you use UOX/SOX the rm10 reload credit can be use till you're 26 (if you keep it, and if u still alive - joking haha)

QUOTE(zellleonhart @ Apr 2 2009, 10:04 AM)
Wow this plan is nice!! just found out today... Probably the best plan ever...

BTW, I am born in 1991 October, should be 18 this year but not yet birthday... Am I considered 18 too and eligible to use this plan, or I must be OFFICIALLY 18 (passed birthday) only can use?
*
you can register as long as you're between 13 to 25 years old.. if you're below 18 you will be under SOX plan.. all the rates are still the same.. and the expiry also the same..

by the way, we must make petition to celcom to reduce UOX rates to be lower than maxis new youthclub plan.. i propose the rates as follow (realistic and optimistic, dont propose ridiculus or imposible rates)

5sen call to 8pax (on-net call doesnt need high cost)
10sen call to all Celcom (on-net call doesnt need high cost)
15sen call to non Celcom (the calling operator need to pay to the receipient operator, so it is imposible to get lower than this.. postpaid can lah, because the ARPU is high, and operator still get profit from other usage that can cover the cost)

0.5sen sms to 8pax (if reduce to 0.2 or 0.1sen is like free already, imagine 1sen deducted after sending 10 sms, then baik bg free jer haha)
1sen sms to all Celcom (if reduce to half cent, then no point having 8pax anymore)
4sen sms to non Celcom (this is quite possible, even the 5sen hotlink youthclub is already negative profit to the operator, because the sender operator need to pay to the receipient operator for every off-net sms)

or maybe celcom can introduce free sms/call after hit certain usage everyday (just like digi dcampus)

my god, this is complicated than i thought.. the competition is very high now.. with current situation, small operator like umobile will die within 3 years lol..

how you know cannot get lower than this?
*
because each time celcom user make call to maxis (for example), celcom need to pay about 12sen (if im not mistaken) to maxis.. if celcom want to reduce the off net call, i would say 12sen is the minimum, cannot go lower than this, or do u expect celcom will pay that ammount on behalf customer lol.. then celcom must be a non-profit organisation now..

celcom may take rm0.00 profit, but not negative (-ve).. sweat.gif

however postpaid can get lower inter operator rates, because the other usage can cover it back..

by the way, im refering the 12sen rates from MCMC telco guidelines few years ago.. i dont know if MCMC already revise the guideline for inter-operator call/sms charge to new rates now..

UOX is not competitive anymore.. datuk shazaly must having a nightmare every night now.. cannot sleep haha.. if he want to reduce the rates, maybe celcom cannot sustain or loss.

furthermore, in mobile business rule. if you want to reduce the price you must reduce lower than competitor.. cannot be same (unless you're controling bigger market share). if u just reduce the price same, then u wont get any new subscriber and at the same time you still facing lower profit margin.

the problem is, if reduce lower than they will rugi lol.. on the other hand, hotlink got some advantages from current situation.. because they controling the market share, and the volume of on-net sms is much more higher compare to off-net sms..

so for the time being, celcom UOX still using current rates.. no revision.

by the way i still using UOX, after almost two years using it.. tongue.gif

yes, UOX is no more competitive if you compare it with Hotlink YC and maybe Digi DCampus.

But then again, UOX was introduced to the public long before HYC was introduced into the market. Because of late introduction of HYC, it has created damage to Hotlink/Maxis.

Celcom made big last financial year after they recorded the highest new numbers of customers. Maxis and Digi had a decline market share last year. I bet this is due to UOX.

Looking at the pattern, I bet that was why maxis came out with HYC, the gain back the market share the lost to Celcom.

HYC can go big but i think for the rare time, maxis/hotlink got it wrong this time around, they're a lil bit too late
*
also, u must remember UOX is open registration.. HYC required student ID, and your student status must be active (i dont know how they check this, maybe through university database).

i heard maxis is spending huge capex this year, to improve their network (because dramatically increase of user complain). if im not mistaken, 1.3 bilion just for improve data service only..

while celcom this year seems like much more relax and no pressure, with their ealier investment resulting better network quality nowadays.. this year celcom only spend about 700mil (half of maxis capex) to improve network quality..

and with HYC reducing price, and also the economic crisis, and 'x laku' iphone, and high capex volume, and also MNP impact.. this year maxis will face dificult time. while at the same time celcom also success to sign agreement with few big organisation/company to sign up their corporate (powertools) plan.

of course, they need to suck all the money from normal hotlink users to feed hyc users.. after all, hyc user is their pontential postpaid/corporate user after they finished studying..

hey, i notice that before this we are discusing UOX topic even in digi/hotlink thread.. but nowadays it other way aroud, now we talk about hotlink hyc even in digi/celcom thread lol.. seem like the cheapest is always the hottest topic

Not really. They have been sucking all the money as fast as possible before launching HYC. HYC might not be potential postpaid as they are many other better postpaid plan from Digi and Celcom.
*
you mean, they use their power as a biggest market share holder to suck the money from all users for a few year, keep all the profit. then after they have sufficient money/fund then they cut the price to lowest ever rate (at the same time using their current huge fund to cover the cost) to eliminate their competitor..

good strategy hmm.gif lol..

if u still remember, when celcom first launch UOX (at that time known as Xpax University) they also didn't tell it to anyone.. its a secret lol. they didnt tell the media, they didnot advertise it, they dont even put it on their website.. no one know about it.

but the news spread so fast, in just few month majority of the student already know about it, but they still can't get it. it is very hard to get it, need to wait their promoter to visit campus..

after about one year, then celcom start to promote it 'openly', if i not mistaken they only told to the media at press conference in second half 2008 (after one year haha). and then they also start to launch website for UOX, they also introduce UOX PLAY party nationwide.

after that UOX is not a secret anymore, anyone can register, all the information available also on their website. is this part of their marketing strategy? maybe they don't want to promote it exessively to avoid their competitor to fight back.

if celcom promote UOX 'openly' and exessively since the 1st day launch, maybe HYC already being introduce years ago haha

according to the celcom staff, the student plan broadband is available for registration at celcom branches since last week.. no contract, and no modem also (you have to buy your own modem), rm50/month.. when you are 26 years old the rate will be back to rm68 per month..

however, current celcom broadband user who wish to migrate to this plan need to terminate their current account and re-register for a new student broadband plan..

its another 'secret' plan/package lol.. if u interested, i can foward you to my fren who working with celcom, he is the person that told me about this, he also said that he accept order/registration through him..

when they introduce UOX in 2007 no one know about it, even their CS also didn't know about it.. they distribute UOX to student at major campus nationwide without any advertisement/promotion. only one year later (2008) they suddenly announce to media/press that they had introduce special plan for under 26 years old called UOX and SOX..

yes, in the middle of 2008.. they annouce it to the media/press, and then after that only they start to promote it 'openly' sweat.gif .. although they actually already start to distribute UOX silently since 2007.

and now, broadband student plan.. another secret product haha.. i wonder why they dont hide their other product too such as BLUE or CEP50. Celcom must get award of the most mysterious telco in the world.
