Itu Meegy, nip quite painful, compared with Judy. Smack her head lightly then she'll stop for a while then continue again. Meegy's one slow glider. Ttal opposite of Judy.
*
LOL.... like comparing Kapi to Kiah..... anyway, now my Kapi and Kiah have become glider ambassadors at Fluff. Hehehe.... they enjoy it there in their glider room.

QUOTE(emino @ Sep 8 2008, 10:11 AM)
Both of my gliders are crabless, biteyless gliders now! yay!

Vicky would crab if I disturbs the pouch. But once she sees me she let my hand in the pouch without any crabbyness!

Everynight, they'll wait for me to turn off the lights before they come out to play (I know they are waiting since I can see 2 heads popping out of the pouch). And if they are satisfied, they'll go to sleep in the morning.

But sometimes, they demand extra mealworms and treats by not going into their pouch during morning. As I notice this, I bring the treats and mealies close to their cage and they come jumping and running towards the opening.

I LOVE my CRAZY monsters!
*
Your Teddy memang never crab before since joey when he was with me.... the oddest joey of all LOL.

QUOTE(mattemily_85 @ Sep 8 2008, 10:43 AM)
my Gino don't want to take the boiled chicken lah..haiz...

then i feel that he more like to stick at me then cage,go near the cage only he will jump to me and wait for me to carry him or let him out... biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif

just want to take some sample of Veggie bites from Hun lah,she say free for 1 week trial woh, izzit true?
*
Some gliders do not like the taste of boiled chicken. Tak apa lah.... that's why my GliderSLURP got chicken hahahah.

Veggie Biitez no free 1 week trial loh.... it is already a very successful flavour. The trial would be my new products, which I will be distributing free trials to anyone who wanna try out. Of course it is all safe since I use human grade quality ingredients, summore organic punya hahahah.... Wait lah.

after that i just bought a new 3ft(h) cage for my coming sg...the special thing with the cage is they oledy provided with kaki one..that means can tolak2 one laa..heheh... brows.gif

i saw some suggiestuf also hanging on the accessories rack.. rclxms.gif
*
Kesian rite? The joeys there are mainly underage, that is why bulu also not lebat enough. Shaking coz all cold and also from starvation. Sigh.... I dunno when will they learn. They still take those underage joeys even when can say almost 1 joey dies in their care each week, and a majority of their buyers actually call me or ask me why their joeys from there die....

Good to hear that they are enjoying it there. Do they go home with you end of the day or stay there or you stay there with them? tongue.gif
*
Well, they stay there during weekends. So far now testing the room, so I let them stay for 2 weeks but I go and visit them too. They love the ropes, hammock, the overall climbing friendly room. Later you guys can come and check it out.

Hunnnnnn....i'm really really sorry coz i didn't return back the cage yet...really busy nowadays...so sorry yaaa..i'll send it back to u as soon as i got time...

by the way, Pika love your Veggie Blitz slurp..wat kind of vege u use yaaaa?lately i notice pika go crazy over bayam...last week, saja tease her with bayam, never intend to let her eat it, but she go crazy over it and bersungguh2 makan...bayam is ok for suggies rite?
*
It's ok. Maybe I can come by your place to take. I'll check with you the time and day later.

Of course she would eat bayam heheheh.... coz it is included in my Veggie Biitez. I include 4 to 5 seasonal veggies I can get, along with fruits. This gives extra nutrients coz veggies contain alot of good vitamins and minerals but gliders don't eat. Veggie Biitez became successful after 3 experiment mixtures..... Always tak jadi coz of the taste, gliders do not like until now.

You can give sawi, kang kung, green peas, snow peas.... some won't eat. Mine all love frozen green peas and those sweet snow peas.

aniting important  to learn? secrets on handling sg?

sorry to be noob. just want sg keepers opinion rather than jz reading repeated infos on d web.
*
Well, can say is that if you let them go wild in your room, sure your room become their playground and jungle hahaha.... but then if you keep in a cage then it is easier and cleaner. Bedding we use breeders celect, which is very good so far.

Aurion already told you his experience. By read the 1st page and going through the forum, can learn alot. Just be prepared from some noisy nights.

Well new member, we do not support buying livestock, but Toby pets is just good for normal supplies. Did any of us say

"Hey everyone! Go get joeys from Pet Safari!"

Did we? The pouches are there to at least give a decent home for the joeys bought there. The joeys would still die if they are too sick but it is not caused by the pouches, more like lack of knowledge from buyer and also the staff's eagerness for sales. I realize you only quote me and KP.... so I know what is happening.

If you lose faith, then go on right ahead. We do not mind, as we know there have been bad rumours going around because of some sour grapes here.... let it be.

Howdy Howdy! I see some of you all here have mongolian gerbils. I just want to know whether the nail of the gliders is it as sharp as gerbils? or it is sharper? (before and after trimming) Just curious...coz i see their cute tiny fingers have quite a long nail to climb...xD...ARIGATO!
*
Gliders have sharper nails.... coz they use for climbing. Gerbils dig, so their nails are not as sharp, needs to be firm and sturdy for digging. Gliders have curved nails like cats, coz they need to climb and grab on stuff, which can cause scars, scratches and itchiness(allergy) if we do not trim their nails. smile.gif

I will try and get a map up. You stay near there?

hi all!! there is a problem with my sugar glider... she kept biting the fur around her stomach.. is tis a disease or what ??? .. as a result, the fur around that particular area is gone... she even bite if someone stop her from biting... what should i do???
*
Oh, so you are leito's friend. Sorry ah, he called but I was in an exam. It is high possibility to be infection. Your glider is overgrooming the pouch area due to itchiness. If she bites and chews, it means she is annoyed with the pain or stinging sensation.

Have you tried washing with detol water? Use a wet cotton bud and clean the area a bit. It has to be mild.

QUOTE(uselessPPL @ Sep 9 2008, 01:11 PM)

Depends.... if it is wild, usually around RM150.... if it is tame, it can be Rm250 onwards.

QUOTE(emino @ Sep 9 2008, 07:55 PM)
This has becoming waaay to heavy for me.

I'm here to share and learn useful knowledge about my pets. Since it seems this thread has becomes a place of hate and flames, I'm gonna leave for now. It would be worthless to fill my mailbox of notifications of people fighting, calling each others bad names, accusing peoples etc.

With that, my last advice is, if you have problems with each others, sit down and talk. Settle them outside the thread. Dont bring it in and bring us who are not involve down with you guys.

Anyway, off I go. I might come in to read occasionally, but unless the condition in this thread improve for the better, this is the last message I'll leave here. Bye peeps. It has been fun!
*
Sometimes sitting down to talk doesn't work for some people. Anyway, I'm also pissed with such things happening in this forum already. It is sad to see people, especially glider people bickering over small matters. It is worst for them to accuse people. Anyway, sad to see you and the other members stop chatting here.

QUOTE(kelvin_faye @ Sep 9 2008, 08:06 PM)
Please ya for god's sake! No more posting bout sensitive issues here in Sugar Glider Thread!!

Keep it CLEAN, NEUTRAL and INFORMATIVE ya! PLEASE! If not, the current forumers wont be here d.. Too much arguement to be solved..

Settle it elsewhere.. Do links if u like to the new topic, but keep this place clean!!

NO MORE FIGHT FIGHT HERE k.. Thank you for reading!!
*
People either feel jealous, or just wanna push people to their limits.

Anyway, I too appreciate this thread to be clean. If nezu wanna talk about pet shops, she should just continue in her pet shop thread that she created long ago.

QUOTE(Jamien @ Sep 9 2008, 09:10 PM)
lol this is suggie thread... If you feel the petshop is flawed you should tell the owner. If all else fails, tell people don't buy from there lo (no offense. Not pointing at any shops. tongue.gif Just toby actually).

Anyway, guys, how do I improve Frey's coat condition? I mean, yes it's smoothi, but it kinda has a grubby chunky look.
*
Try feeding Frey a drop of fish oil twice a week. You can mix into Slurp or feed with a drop of honey. Then take wet wipes to wipe her down, then dry her with powder.

QUOTE(dai86 @ Sep 9 2008, 10:19 PM)

No.... it is best not to keep fish oils mixed with other things overnight. This is according to Dr Jenny as she said fish oil can rot, and cause everything to turn rancid. It is best you give it by mixing it on the day you wanna feed.

You can always take the pill heheh.... or just keep the capsule in a small air tight container and keep in the fridge. Just use a needle to prick a small hole to squeeze out the oil.

he just give that left food...
*
Some males are dominant. My Kimba is like that. The only way for you to help your female eat better.... and really, you have to do this or your female will not be able to be healthy and strong.

You gotta get 3 food bowls. Even you only have 2 gliders, dominant males tend to hog the food bowls alot. Put all 3 bowls in different locations of the cage. This helps the female eat better. I do this and it works.

Added on September 10, 2008, 12:36 pmguys, if u live in kuantan, how do we get gliderslurp supplies?
*
Ferret is stronger smelling than gliders.

Kuantan.... hmmmm.... I'll check if I got any friends going there. I only have friends going to Melaka weekly..... anyway, I will be producing a dry mix, instant so you can get it easily. Do wait yah, if can, PM me your address and I will give you some free trials to try.

QUOTE(dai86 @ Sep 10 2008, 01:06 PM)
Jamien & Hun & others,
ya i bath them, since very long time ago. still they were very healthy...
maybe my fatty biasa di la, she will just hold my hand tide tide, then let the water go thru her body, no wash their head just body only, then dry her lo with dry cloth. she will rub her own face and body at the dry cloth also... hehe... the big daughter will do the same. the father will run here and there and fight with the water. mostly use warm water (thru heater type that we use to bath), but if really hot day then use normal paip water. mmm... very very often bath. maybe few month once like that... is consider 'big cleaning' time lo bath them... the after wipe them with dry cloth, will empty the cage (all things inside undergoes cleaning also), then put them back into cage and they will lick lick also cause some place cannot be wipe or not dry enough, after that when they really totally dry, they will give me sign on 'where is all my things?', they will start to move around the cage non stop... until i put back all their things back into the cage, they will go to the small plastic pot and sleep there. then at night time after they ate their dinner only they will back to their coconut and sleep lo...
(since last last last  don't know how many last thread of sg i edi told u guys that i bath them la. and i think i am the only one who bath them in this thread. hehe...)
*
Well, it is best not to bath them lah.... you do not use soap rite? Coz if soap, it can strip away the protective oils.

I only bath gliders if they are very dirty or were involved in a sticky accident.

QUOTE(ekazakaria @ Sep 10 2008, 02:05 PM)
Ohhh..now i know suggies does scent marking pee as well...no wonders lately pika & miya's cage become more smellier, i thought their normal pee smell become so strong nowadays...  tongue.gif

2 days ago my sis and I wash their cage, with lux soap some more to make it wangi tongue.gif ..coz nowadays the smell so strong..when we put them back into the cage, they so stoned and keep smelling every corner of the cage..very funny...but now, the smell came back, tskkkkkk...  doh.gif
*
All gliders scent mark, but it is the male that scent marks more. Females just go around with droplets of musky pee....

One way is to give the cage a wipe down with a wet cloth every few days.

QUOTE(faerieC @ Sep 10 2008, 03:57 PM)
early dis morning when i wake up Milly, she poo like watery type. den jus now, she poo again. better than morning's but still soft type. i fed her wif yogurt & grape last nite. isit normal bout her poo? so worry leh.... sad.gif
btw, White Palace... u r de owner of FLUFF rite? den isit means same for petshack & another branch at setapak-taman melawati (wat is de shop name)?
wanna ask coming dis sunday(14/9) de setapak-taman melawati branch will open till wat time? cos tht is mooncake festival day..so will it close earlier? i wan go to get some stuff for Milly
*
It's the yogurt. Coz yogurt can cause watery poo and you fed grape, so it would cause the poo to be softer. Grape is not really advisable to feed. Best you give some of our tropical fruits. My gliders love ciku, rambutan and nangka.

Pet Epicure is at Taman Melawati. I think they would be open. I double check for you. What stuff you wanna get?

QUOTE(Gr3eN @ Sep 10 2008, 04:31 PM)
Hi...wanna ask smthg.
Is that the nutrition content in Rep-cal and Glider-cal is same?
*
Rep-Cal, if you get the Green Label then it is the same with Glider-Cal... Why? Coz both have no added vitamin D3. just pure non-dairy calcium. It doesn't matter which one you got, both brands can be used.

QUOTE(-milo- @ Sep 10 2008, 05:14 PM)
hi guys, i dont own a glider, but have recently noticed this thread and read through v8 and a bit of v7. found them to be very interesting creatures so i followed the thread  tongue.gif

just out of curiosity, i want to ask the owners here how do u guys clean up the cage? i mean they pee poo as they like so u guys just wipe the cage? or wash it?

and, i read somewhere that it is better to have 2 gliders instead of one because they need a friend of the same species because human love and companionship alone not enuf, is it true?

thanks if anyone here could anser me smile.gif  hmm.gif
*
Hi
Cage... well, we do weekly or monthly washings, depends on how rajin some of us are hahahah.... but then wiping, I tend to do every few days. Gliders like to pee along the cage bars, so it can stain and stink. Poo is normally dropped into the tray, so we put old newspaper or breeders celect as litter for the poo.

of course it is better to have 2.... coz they are nocturnal. Actually, they can get love from humans IF the human has the same sleeping time and waking time everyday for the next 10 years of the glider's life. Would you do that? Hahaha.... not many would, it is really tiring. Also, they are vocal so they love to talk, the way we talk and the way gliders communicate is different, so it is always better to have 2. Doesn't need to be a male and female pair. Sisters or brothers or single sex pairs are better.

You can just Google to find out. There are many online like Leadbeaters, BML.... Bourbon..... just remember that a glider should not have too much sweets in their diet... and sweets meaning honey. So browse and look, experiment on your glider.

Grapes can be fed.... but it is just better not to only.

There is little research on sugar gliders, and quite a small amount of animals cannot take grapes. Like for dogs, it can cause kidney failure. Through what I have read, there is a risk of gliders getting kidney issues.... I have read a number of glider breeders and keepers overseas who have stopped giving grapes.

But you miss out one thing.... grapes are watery fruit, which means when you couple it with yogurt or another watery fruit, you are bound to get watery poo.

QUOTE(aurion @ Sep 10 2008, 07:22 PM)
Hun, correct me if I'm wrong. I read from glider university that BML diet is a toxic substance for suggies as stated by the Glider University.
*
Well, Glider university can be a bit extreme.... it really is not toxic but intensely sweet because of the high amount of honey. Honestly, when I first had gliders, I made BML and my Kiah hated it.... funky smell. So that is why I came up with GliderSLURP, a safer diet supplement.

What happened in US was that when gliders 1st became pets, everyone was scrambling about for a diet to give them. It was hard to give a natural diet, so people started using possum diets.... like Leadbeater's possum diet. Soon new diets show up as each breeder wants to create the perfect mix. People thought honey is the best.... but then the sugars in honey causes a glider to be fat. Also, this diet caused Lumpy Jaw as when they eat too much sugary stuff, their gums are weaken. When they eat something hard, then for sure sores form in their mouths.

According to a UK breeder, it is best we omit honey from our gliders diet. We also should give 1 or 2 kibble a day. My gliders love cat kibble, I use EaglePack dried catfood for them. I did try those glider food that overseas people use, and they don't really like it. I suspect the taste is not right but I am also not so keen since some products contain soy protein. Soy has been known to cause some health problems in gliders if eaten too much.

If needed, find agave nectar, so much healthier and it is better than any sugar in the world for humans.

*
What kinda food? Did you not research on diet? 1st page already have a list of fruits that can be given. Do not only rely on apples. Also, click my signature, got GliderSLURP, which is a glider supplement that can help with growth and health.

The key is to feed as much as it can eat, if it is fruits lah. If SLURP, only 1 tablespoon a day will do.

Post a picture please. Some sellers are not honest with the age.... by posting a picture, we can help you.

No, you should not give HL milk.

Do PM Reanne, she just bought a supply of milk that is very nutritious, more nutritious than Pets Own milk. It has colostrum and higher in protein.

hey guys, im new to this sugar glider thread as my glider will be arriving soon but meanwhile waiting for her to arrive i hav done my research for quite sometime d, but i think i still need to ask all brothers and sisters here to teach me more bout this cute glider, as those materials on the internet aren't enuf i guess as compare to those experiences of keeping gliders in this thread... rclxms.gif  i jus wanna ask more that how often does glider poo n pee...? i know that they cant be potty trained as dogs but do they poo n pee often on the same area or jus everywhere? will they poo or pee when u guys bring them out in the bonding pouch? i think this will enuf for this time, i will ask more if i come to others...  blush.gif  hope to hear from u guys... thanks n regards.... smile.gif

Well, they poo and pee whenever and wherever they like. There is no same area.... and yes, they do pee and poo in bonding pouches if you have put them in for too long and did not let them out. Can roughly say they can poo and pee every hour or so. It really depends on the glider coz I have one that poo and pee very frequent, while another not so frequent.

HUN : I feed one TEASPOON wor to Fluffy [2months OOP male joey].. Enuf not? And 2 teaspoon of fruits[apple, pear, jambu mix], vege[bayam] = these 4 mx together after dicing them up.. hehe tongue.gif and 10 mealies..
*
Well, 1 tablespoon is the best.... my gliders can eat finish 1 tablespoon. But if say you mix with veggies and fruits, then don't have to be 1 tablespoon lah.... for me is coz morning I feed Slurp, night I feed fruits.... so this kinda gets them to finish up their food.

still waitng for my glider....  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif
gona die soonn...

Big mealworms? Most likely super worms.... not every glider eats at first. Some are scared LOL.... it takes them some time to learn to eat.

Some people may wanna buy dried mealworms.... but then to me it is quite waste of money coz 80% of mealworms is water... so what is left is 20% skin and some innards. The best mealworms are fresh live mealworms. Why? Coz we gutload them, they get additional nutrients and their moisture content is nutritious.

sweat.gif Everyone's out to make me jealous today. Even Hanzz.

BTW guys, is there such thing as feeding too much slurp? Can feed more than 1 tablespoon?
*
Well.... it is best not to. Why? Coz you don't wanna make her tummy too full for fruits. You can feed to 2 tablespoons, no problem wan. Just that it is better to stick with 1 tablespoon, so that whatever appetite she has, she can save it for the fruits.

QUOTE(Janice613 @ Sep 11 2008, 03:20 PM)
Jamien , exactly what i wanna ask too . My Cady dun like to take a lot of fruits , so sometimes when she doesnt eat so much of fruit & Vege , i will give her more slurp ... any 'maximum' feeding ??

Cady is still not that attach to me yet  sad.gif  , first 3 days dare not come out from the sleeping pouch but now is better . smile.gif she dare to come out and i can hand feed her .  tongue.gif

Previously i must take her out together with the sleeping pouch in order to feed her food , coz put inside the bowl she also dare not come out to take it . lol  biggrin.gif
*
There is no maximum feeding. Just better to feed 1 tablespoon so the rest of her appetite can eat other stuff.

Anyway, I will be producing a new product soon. Gonna be 100% veggie and fruit base, so it means can eat as much as the glider wants to coz it is very good for them. Wait lah, I will hand out samples later on.

thanx for the info crazymouse_yyh, so it means that if i bring her out along wif me in the bonding pouch then i need to let her out often lar? is tat also mean tat i need to get a spare pouch wif me in case she poo or pee in the pouch so she could hav a clean pouch to replace? as i read some previous post in the thread, so said that their glider poo n pee after meal, thus normally when we feed them at nite, so issit means that in the morning they seldom pee n poo? issit ok to giv them some treats or kibbles apart from their meal time as when we play wif them? and wat will be the best choice of treats for them? sorry for all this long nuisance question cos i jus wanna know more as to provide my joey the best care i could....  biggrin.gif
*
What we normally do is stuff the pouch with a few pieces of tissue. The tissue would act as a bedding and also to absorb the pee. Well, if your glider is asleep in the pouch, then it won't pee and poo inside.... but when you are carrying the pouch and you feel it has woke up, then take out and let it pee and poo before it goes to sleep again. This would take some time to get used to.

When you play with them, they won't really have much appetite for treats or kibble. Gliders would look forward to mealworms than anything else.

For treats, you can get dried fruit treats for hamsters. Other is yogurt. As for kibbles, go for a high quality cat kibble like Eagle Pack or Orijen, make sure holistic. Gliders love it and it is nutritional for them but limit it to 2 pieces a day.

I don't even advertise my own flavours here. Rules more strict? It has been like that since the past 2 years.... you are doing alot of advertising.... Last warning here. No sorry sorry.....

QUOTE(Janice613 @ Sep 11 2008, 05:49 PM)
i tried pear , water jambu , apple , and sweet plum . the worse is apple , she din even bother ! ( but i also dun like apple . hehe )
and among that only pear she finish it , water jambu i squeeze into juice only she take it. sigh  sweat.gif

however is it okay to leave the fruits overnite ? or only feed it the next morning ?
*
How come your glider is so choosy? My gliders eat everything.....

Anyway, yes, leave the fruits overnight. Meaning you put 10pm, you clean it up at 6am or 8am.... coz they do not eat everything one shot, need to eat slowly.

Ok Hun! Thanks! I think I will give her slurp in the morning and fruits at night then. I want her to put on more weight.

And I hope your new 100% fruit + vege product comes out soon. I feel I'm giving too little variety to Frey... (although actually is a lot. tongue.gif )

About the cat kibbles, can I ask what is the smallest size, best brand and price? Cuz I only have 1 suggie, which is Frey. hmm.gif Also wondering if I can feed some to my syrians. sweat.gif I don't want it to expire before it finishes.

And the cat kibbles, do we have to soften with water before giving?
*
See lah, I got many new things to offer tongue.gif Just waiting for free time to produce.

Some people may ask how come our gliders in Malaysia look smaller and are lighter.... one thing.... amount of food eaten. We are a hot and humid country, so gliders got no urge to bulk up in fat. Also, we feed them healthy food, with no added simple sugars, so that is why they appear lean and healthy. Saw a few overweight ones before, is coz the owners feed kuaci.... tsk tsk.... gliders are not hamsters hahahah.

Cat kibbles come in big packs.... so it's kinda hard.... if you want, I can repack a bit of mine and give you some.

No need to soften it. The cat kibble is not as hard as dog kibble, a bit crunchy and softer. The abrasiveness of the kibbles helps with cleaning their back teeth.
