fiona yee. i found this from atisonbetta.com:
The eggs will hatch within 36 hours if the temperature is about 27ºCelcius. The fries live on their yolk sac for another 2-3 days and after this they need to be fed immediately. The male has completed his duty and it is time to take him out gently with your hand. The step you should do immediately after taking the male out is to feed the fries. I stress immediately because the fries of the first batch will be about 4 hours older than the fries of the last batch. The yolk sacs are gone and they need food right away. If you delay the feeding for another 4-5 hours, the first batch will become weaker and weaker until they can not move to get or catch food. They will die several days later of starvation. You will then ask yourself why they died even though you have fed them regularly. You become the first fries killer. he said, 2-3 days. so, dont worry. hope u succeed in raising them. |

Here's some guidelines:
![]() ![]() Changing the water will affect the: 1. pH 2. bacteria population (which can cause an increase in ammonia) 3. temperature Your tank will be clean, but it'll be a different kind of clean, and the fry may not be okay with it. Changing water within the first week of hatching is very risky. I'd advise you not to do so. The plants help maintain the ecology of the tank, but it depends on how much of a water change you undertook. Like a 1/4 tank should be okay. A 1/2 water change is not advisable. Feeding: If you're not comfortable with infusoria, you can feed them microworms. They are just as good, but DO NOT overfeed, because left over microworms may die and dirty the tank water. Filtration: DON'T EVER, EVER, EVER USE A MECHANICAL FILTER THAT HAS SUPER SUCTION POWERS AND WATER FLOW THAT CAN RIVAL A WATERFALL. DON'T KILL INNOCENT LIVES! Stick to a simple bubble filter. Once you have passed this part (it's really not that difficult), you can proceed to the second part. Babies are now large enough to be fed powdered food (flake is for waaay bigger fish). You can now feed them brineshrimp or blood worms or WARNING: OVERFEEDING THE FRY WITH BABY BRINE SHRIMP WILL CAUSE SWIMBLADDER DISORDER Microworms and the rest, no problem. Blissguy, is it the white male betta, the one whose picture you posted? Sheeeeeeet! that was a nice fish! Added on February 8, 2011, 1:02 am[quote=Wesya,Feb 6 2011, 09:01 PM] ![]() That is a frickin' awesome fish!! Such solid colour. Like a pastel crayon. QUOTE(beer8bottles @ Feb 8 2011, 01:59 AM) "Do Not Change The Water"I know I cannot change the water for the first week. But I need to change the water so that they can grow faster because they excrete a kind of 'toxic' when they grow, right? When can I change the water then? And Regarding my previous question,My aquarium that the frys are in is divided.Quater of the tank is used for my dad's guppy frys and it has 2 bunches water plants that are growing well in there. But I changed the water about 4 days ago(when there wasn't any eggs/fry yet),will there still be infusoria in that water plant? Any ideas on that? And thanks for another great breeding sheet Blissguy,so sorry for your loss |

Blissguy, hope you find the perfect male
I've removed the dad since the fry could swim by themselves already.I think there is only maybe 50 or 60? I also re-made the infusoria since I did not know I needed to boil the lettuce. This time I used boiled banana skin.First day, water was a 'apple juice' colour,today(2nd day) the water colour was cloudy. Is it because there is bacteria that's why the water is cloudy? |

QUOTE(fionayee @ Feb 8 2011, 05:35 PM) "Do Not Change The Water" those 'toxic' that you mention is ammonia/nitrate. some trick that we use is to put live plants in the tank. you can use "money plant", water lettuce or even duckweed if necessary (but make sure you don't introduce duckweed into your other tanks, and make sure it doesnt cover the WHOLE tank surface area, they are call weeds for a reason).I know I cannot change the water for the first week. But I need to change the water so that they can grow faster because they excrete a kind of 'toxic' when they grow, right? When can I change the water then? Any ideas on that? And thanks for another great breeding sheet Blissguy,so sorry for your loss infusoria takes quite a while to populate a tank. given that many fry that you might get from a spawn, it won't be enough. if you're really serious into raising your fry, best you prepare fry food like bbs. good luck! I already have one large water lettuce in the tank with a few pieces of java fern leaves.infusoria takes quite a while to populate a tank. given that many fry that you might get from a spawn, it won't be enough. if you're really serious into raising your fry, best you prepare fry food like bbs. good luck! BBS will be hard for me to find,do they eat daphnia?Daphnia I know where to get.If they can eat daphnia then it'll be better since my infusoria culture is not ready yet. By the way,to all who want to know where to get daphnia, location is Old Klang Road.No idea on the exact location but will try to find out.
