QUOTE(beer8bottles @ Jan 31 2011, 09:27 PM) Fionayee, unfortunatly, no. There was no dead body lying around.. And it was in a covered tank. I keep my tanks outside because my parents dont allow tanks in the house, so there is a high possibility of unknown "retards" stealing my fish... ~sigh~ Wah...fish also want to steel QUOTE(beer8bottles @ Jan 31 2011, 09:53 PM) Not a lot of work, just a lot of waiting time. +1 The smell of the "potato water" is like...wet socks. But I prefer this over powdered food. It helps slower swimming fry to get enough nutrients. HMs can have up to a 10cm diameter when in full flare. Super nice to see Haven't tried breeding HMs and Crown Tails. But posting up all this photos makes me miss the old times of breeding them... Dammit...Now I feel like going out and buying a few and revive the hobby once again. |

How do you rear your frys?Do you change the water often?
Daphnia is okay, they don't kill fishes or anything.I've fed my fishes daphnia on rare occations in the past and everything was fine. EDIT : Just paired my fighting fish up p/s : Thanks alot to Beer8bottles for reviving my ex-hobby This post has been edited by fionayee: Feb 1 2011, 05:45 PM |

QUOTE(beer8bottles @ Feb 6 2011, 06:48 PM) Hey, Mika and Fiona! Congratulations! Photos! Haha...I will soon, hopefully.I've got lots of homework and tuitions sadly I wanna see the photos!! I'm getting my tanks ready, gonna go buy some aquarium pumps tomorrow evening. Blissguy, usually there should be no problem if the female is larger than the male. The only problem that could occur is that they may not be able to spawn properly (Coz the male will have to bend his body to "clip" the female to spawn. So the eggs may not be properly fertilized. But if everything goes well, you ARE ONE LUCKY FELLA! there'd be tonnes of babies Start uploading the photos, guys! |

My aquarium that the frys are in is divided.Quater of the tank is used for my dad's guppy frys and it has 2 bunches water plants that are growing well in there. But I changed the water about 4 days ago, will there still be infusoria in that water plant?

QUOTE(beer8bottles @ Feb 8 2011, 01:59 AM) "Do Not Change The Water"I know I cannot change the water for the first week. But I need to change the water so that they can grow faster because they excrete a kind of 'toxic' when they grow, right? When can I change the water then? And Regarding my previous question,My aquarium that the frys are in is divided.Quater of the tank is used for my dad's guppy frys and it has 2 bunches water plants that are growing well in there. But I changed the water about 4 days ago(when there wasn't any eggs/fry yet),will there still be infusoria in that water plant? Any ideas on that? And thanks for another great breeding sheet Blissguy,so sorry for your loss |

Blissguy, hope you find the perfect male
I've removed the dad since the fry could swim by themselves already.I think there is only maybe 50 or 60? I also re-made the infusoria since I did not know I needed to boil the lettuce. This time I used boiled banana skin.First day, water was a 'apple juice' colour,today(2nd day) the water colour was cloudy. Is it because there is bacteria that's why the water is cloudy? |

QUOTE(inv @ Feb 9 2011, 08:38 PM) those 'toxic' that you mention is ammonia/nitrate. some trick that we use is to put live plants in the tank. you can use "money plant", water lettuce or even duckweed if necessary (but make sure you don't introduce duckweed into your other tanks, and make sure it doesnt cover the WHOLE tank surface area, they are call weeds for a reason). I already have one large water lettuce in the tank with a few pieces of java fern leaves.infusoria takes quite a while to populate a tank. given that many fry that you might get from a spawn, it won't be enough. if you're really serious into raising your fry, best you prepare fry food like bbs. good luck! BBS will be hard for me to find,do they eat daphnia?Daphnia I know where to get.If they can eat daphnia then it'll be better since my infusoria culture is not ready yet. By the way,to all who want to know where to get daphnia, location is Old Klang Road.No idea on the exact location but will try to find out. Alright, daphnia it is then
By the way,it's actually Old Town, not Old Klang Road...sorry,my bad Any ideas where else I can get daphnia as Old Town is quite far away.My location is Mont Kiara Update,my 2nd pair just embraced. When I came back from school I saw them embracing and watched the male squeeze her for about 5 times but no eggs came out?Note that there were some eggs in the nest already.
