eh?....aint the fenrir is a HDT type cooler?...
heard that its not recommended to lap it as it might break the wall of the copper heatpipes (which supposed to be quite thin).
tho ive seen someone did a successful lapping job on his Xigmatek S1284 HDT.....which means it still is possible to lap it

anyways..the best of luck with your lapping this saturday biggrin.gif

you can check out the zalman fan mate @ moderno PC...its around 16 ringgit...

assembly is a breeze..just make sure your fan is 3 pin PWM

fan>fan controller>mobo

JK la....JK... shocking.gif

CCF fans are not loud..thats true...you can leave your case door open and all you hear is a small hum..
but the CM 90cfm LED fans im not too sure...tho its stated that its silent (19dba)...so should be better than delta gua..

fan controllers usually wont go beyond RM100...like the Sunbeam Rheobus Fan Controller 5.25"....looks okay for 85 bucks
go for it if you really think you need it la...you should test your CM fan first..see if its really noisy or not...coz my fans all 25dba and its only humming at max speed....can be totally forgotten if you have a little music playing..

actually...most fans that comes with the HSF like the sunbeam CCF ones...actually does its part decently...i dont see a reason why to replace them

besides..delta fans are really loud lol...had them..though i think i can handle the noise but i gave up a few days later XD...even my speakers lose to the them if my case door is open

currently..im using those 120mm fans which are taken out from faulty PSUs...its in between those normal and delta...do expect some noise..but they have good airflow smile.gif but no LED sad.gif

just remove the filters...if you dont wanna go through all those procedures....

lol to keep dust away...what i do is put the CPU on the table...and keep the room clean biggrin.gif (leaving on the floor = OMG)

can barely see traces of dust collecting..even tho its been left like that for 4 months already....the mikuru figurine i put inside my casing is still clean biggrin.gif

that means the fan is slightly elevated from the filter...to put in simple words...there is a small gap between the fan and the filter

but like that can fit meh?? i dont think the CM590 can do it tho...icute lagi tak payah cakap...

LMAO.. i almost cried when my sunbeam CCF became useless when i change to i5... but somehow.. with a little electric Drill and some small screws + nuts + washers, i managed to mod the LGA775 mount to fit the LGA1156 brows.gif

doing orthos on stock clocks (not too sure on how to OC the i5 yet).. shall post the results soon ... too bad i dont have a camera to snap some pics of it sad.gif

mounted the cooler already.. kinda lazy to take it out at the moment :/ .... but all i do is hammer the push-pins out and drill the holes bigger.. then use screws to bolt the bracket onto the mobo brows.gif

anyways.. did some light OC to 3.5ghz (got it to 3.9ghz with turbo on but not so stable with the vcore i wanted which is 1.3v).. here's the temp biggrin.gif

your xiggy and the CM hyper 212 shouldnt have much diff .... or probably the CM will have lower idle temps .... i realized that HDT has higher temps in the lows... but a lil superior in the highs..

if you want an upgrade.. why not get a delta fan and replace the xiggy's LED fan thumbup.gif

cooler cannot fit.. you can hunt for those WC mounting or brackets from other HSF to to fit... or you can make your own.. its not that hard smile.gif if you have the tools XD

hyper 212+ is not really a powerful cooler ler.. thats why its being sold at such low prices :/
even with s1283... can go 478X9 @ 1.32v with e8400 .. temp also rarely touching 70C (can check out my friend's system under s1283 with the e8400)
