im soooo gonna get a sb800 ! ! ! btw guys, do ya think its better to get a sb800/sb900 ?..
*
Reason I don't get SB-900 is Sb-800 smaller but more powerful compare to SB-900. Tested and proven. Even the shop fellow told me so.
Besides Sb-900 get overheated quite easily smile.gif

Another photo to share. Playing with effect again.

No doubt the SB900 is more powerful. It reaches 200mm! But I also hear it overheats easily, though for us casual shooters, shouldn't be a problem. Wedding photogs beware though.

A good thing is that the SB800 is now much cheaper. And so is the SB600. There's always the choice of 2 SB600 + radio transmitters for some really awesome strobist action tongue.gif Cheap ones from phottix is only RM140 (http://www.lelong.com.my/Auc/List/2008-09DeSale18751086_AUCTION_Phottix_Wireless_Flash_Trigger_2_Receiver_Nikon_SB_600_800_900.htm). This combo is still cheaper than just 1 SB900, and you get 2 flash.
*
My previous post stated SB-800 more powerful than SB-900 la. Read properly.
Even though SB-900 can reach 200mm but comparing the power, it's weaker compare to SB-800.
This discussion has been brought up at PhotoMalaysia smile.gif

I get my SB-800 below RM 1,000 rolleyes.gif

Actually for Strobist, you can get 1 SB-800 to command other Nissin flash as well. Cheaper way or if you're using D80 and above, a few SB-600 is more than enough smile.gif

it will triggered sb800, rite? if we set sb600 to slave, can it be triggered by sb 800?

Yes.

with tight budget, im thinking to buy sigma 70-200 f2.8 for wedding shoots purpose. n i think its okay for me, unless nikkor 70-200 f2.8 VR price drops like hell if 70-200 VRII really comes out..  tongue.gif

n i believe if we utilise the gadget to the max, that shud be no problem. some of my frens impressed that i can stil produce a good pictures (though i dun feel so  laugh.gif ). for the wedding, i think the end products speak itself. my 2 cents..
d40 have child mode for ur upcoming baby..  whistling.gif  laugh.gif

70-200 VR won't drop below RM 5,500 for a new unit. But for 2nd hand, it will most likely around RM 4,800 - RM 5,000 smile.gif

hi guys, sorry if this sound cliche but I was looking for a cheap tele with macro capabilities. Should I get,

a) Sigma 70-300mm APO

or

b) Nikon 50-200mm VR + extension tube.

Thanks for the advice.
*
Get a real macro lens better.
Sigma 105mm or Sigma 150mm give an awesome output of macro photos smile.gif

QUOTE(mindkiller6610 @ Sep 15 2008, 08:14 AM)
i would go for the option a) Sigma 70-300mm APO,

you may wanna look at

tamron SP90mm (with nikon mount with AF motor).

it gives u 1:1 macro, but u only get 90mm tele.
*
SP90 photos really poison grumble.gif

Thanks, so many choices for macro lens sweat.gif. Then there's tokina 100mm. I wouldn't be able getting macro lens at my current situation since I got just enough for zoom lens. Maybe another year or so. That's why I need to buy zoom lens with macro capabilities. Thanks mindkiller for your suggestion. I'd look into it.

Just found another technique, 55-200mm with reverse ring + 50mm. Reverse ring seems cheaper but sure is a little difficult and risky imo.
*
55-200 focusing at least 3 feet mate.
Not sure how you gonna macro tho.

QUOTE(zio @ Sep 15 2008, 11:26 AM)
Thanks smile.gif
Well, the Tamron SP90 is not that expensive although still more expensive than the 70-300mm Macro.
*
SP90 indeed is a good lens although a bit more expensive.
