Guys, just got a pair of hamster on last saturday when doing shopping with my gf. Actually is my gf wanted to get it but after 2 days she seems like lost interest alrady. sweat.gif so i guess i will be the one to take care both of the hamster.

I'm not sure what is the type of the hamster, will post some pic to let you guys help me to verify.
Currently i just got the sunflower seeds as the food for the hamster. As from the 1st post, there is several of food that is recommanded for the hamster, is it ok to just stick to one brand or mixture with other?

As for the cage, it just a cage with a wheel and a water tank.

Need advice from you guys on how to take care of them. notworthy.gif

Thank you

you should stand on one leg, and fall on your back...see how she react. Later she put you in a cage laugh.gif all hamsters do that...even when you bring them home. Its what they do... just trying to escape all the time.

one thing they do that isn't cute...is eat their own. You should be careful with that. What kind of hamsters do you have now? Winter White? Robovski? If you don't know the species, tell us the color...we may be able to help identify.
*
1. Brown color with a strpe from head to the tail.
2. Black color, also got a stripe from head to tail

Looks like the Campbells Hamster but i'm not sure. Brought at 14 bucks each

blink.gif I don't know why but I get a very distinct feeling that your hamster has a condition called flipping. Does it happen a lot?

And post some pictures yah? BTW, when you bought the hamster, didn't the store label the hamster tank from where you choose your hammie? What does the label say?

And if one male 1 female you better separate... If they're about the same age and living in the same tank, there is a very high possibility that they are brother and sister. Inbreeding produces bad quality pups...
*
I didn't notice if there is any lable on the tank or not. About the age, no idea also.. but both of them sometime did fighting for the wheel.

Flipping.. don't since after brought it, it only did it once... maybe because of this my gf lost interest on it... shakehead.gif

with dorsal stripes, could be winter white lor.

Luckily it's not flipping... Flipping is a condition where a hamster can't balance and will flip continuouslyfor its whole life... Very poor thing wan...

sad.gif Sigh... I was working so cannot tell them that they're notdoing the right thing...
*
WW cannot mix with other?

The black 1 got abit of white color around its neck and the 4 legs and tail is white color as well

Mix WW? better not... even if they dun fight now, sooner or later they will still fight, no promised though.
Bout the flash, if u got bright lite, then dun use flash lo... if got no choice u'll hafta use flash. If the photo with flash came out loosing some detail compare to ur eye sight(eg lighter color or even diff color), then put a tissue or some white paper on the flash lite itself, this will make the lite softer and come out nicer photo.
*
Ok... will try to snap the pic and post it here tonite...

If it's really a pair, then you'll have to separate them unless want more hamsters. And do read for some articles on breeding b4 you do so, be an ethical breeder.  nod.gif

I have checked and comfirmed is a male n female.... currently thinking to separate them...

I think my cage is only 1ft long (not too sure) and only with a food bowl, running wheel and a water botol. Is it enough?
Is it possible to add another floor? Btw, the cage is similar to the Critter Trail Mini One shows in Pet Shack website.

but wait...will it fit into a critter trail mini cage? It'll be very packed inside there if you put that. To me, the CritterTrail mini cannot be expanded any further...unless you get some tubes and connect it outside the cage.
*
I see... means i have no choice but to get a bigger cage lo...

Anyone seen the new OVO Loft? Looks like 2 OVOs combined together to be big. The steel top grill looks like for better air circulation on the top. Looks expensive too...

I don't think ovo's are actually very practical. I think you'd be better off buying two 2 feet tanks. They look very cool though..

Those normal grapy fish tank shoud be ok right?

not necessary...like I said, you can buy tubes and connect to that cage. If you get a bigger cage...what are you going to do with the current one? If you want to join two tanks also need the tube.
*
ok.. those tube can get in Pet Shack as well right?
