QUOTE(athirah88 @ Sep 15 2008, 11:52 PM) I'm going for a syrian, since I'm a pet-er.. O you want a cinnamon? I say go look around for a good breeder. Pet shop bought hamsters, whether syrians or not, are harder to tame. Nezu's fatsoso is limited edition. Her brownie puff just gave birth not too long ago. Still on maternity break before next breeding ma. We all want brownie to be at her best health before she breed de, right? And ovo has poor ventilation wor. I hope where you're putting the ovo has good air flow or your syrian's fur will look messy and sweaty plus oily o. |

QUOTE(bytefreezer @ Sep 16 2008, 12:23 AM) juz be patience, luckily the one u hav is RC, not robo, else i think u long time throw them out of the window ady. Juz leave alone them 2-3 days first, hamsters can easily get stress when come to a new environment. juz rub ur hand with their bedding b4 u try to reach them. But at the end, everything comes to Jamien's Golden Rule for Taming -> Love+patience=sacrifice Lol, byte, it's Love = Patience + SacrificeAs mentioned, leave your hamster to get used to the new environment. And it is my policy to always make your hamster come to you, not the other way around. So I don't do scooping. |

^ Syrians can also become bitey, cuz only tame hamsters don't bite. Ferro was bitry as well when he came. He striked first and looked later. Now he is tame, he doesn't bite anymore. Ferro was bought from a petshop. Now he's a darling.

if finger = treat, they will nibble your finger and try to taste and eat.
if finger = threat, they will bite your finger and attack it until the finger goes away. the difference in treat and threat is just 1 H but it can cause a lot of damage if you don't approach properly. This post has been edited by Jamien: Sep 16 2008, 12:45 AM |

Sophie, according to an online website, a healthy winter white should weigh 28-56 g. But take into account that our country's hamsters are smaller so would weigh significantly less.

The pellets are alfafa pellets if I'm not wrong. I heard that it taste a bit bitter wan so hammie don't like. And yes, they will only eat when there's nothing left to eat. Habitrail's only redeeming point is that it's cheap lo.
And yes! If you want a big fat hammie, must pump when young! All living things stop growing at a certain age. After that they can only grow sideways o. Lol, I have her for almost 2 months dy, my SG. Just put up her siggy only. And yes, they are very fun and very cute creatures but need so much commitment le. Drop by SG thread and see and read up before you decide lar. My bf also fall in love wif SG liao. Sorry for OT. |

QUOTE(athirah88 @ Sep 19 2008, 10:57 PM) Weee! I just came back from FLUFF! Brought my Aloe back ady... He so kaypoh, run here and there inside the Ovo.. Maybe his fur make him look big size only la. He'll fit just fine (i hope) But a bit worried, He also adores the wheel and he's like godzilla near the food place, I think Aloe is a bit claustrophobic.. He doesn't like the transport unit, he was making kicked-puppy-face at me all the way back... like saying 'let me out please...' He also kinda enjoys being held I think coz he climb up my hand instantly when I see him at FLUFF.. Too bad NXZ had a power outage.. It was so dark.. I would have taken pictures for you Jayniel.. Shayne, I hope the fishies are okay... Can't post his pics today, coz my friend borrowed my camera.. Will post them as soon as possible.. |

@akecema: Nice creativity! Better use the given space than waste it. Very good!
@thirah: Aloe so cute!! Sleeping style awesome la. I use a glass sauce dish (the ones we put soy sauce on). Since it's glass it doesn't topple as easily (although my hams are more concerned about eating the smoothie than decorating their place all over with it. Maybe you can try? Ace hardware sells one for RM 0.70 only. |
