QUOTE(wkang @ Feb 16 2012, 04:11 PM) PSB thread dead for a long time, just wanted to add some pics of my setup. Hopefully more psb owners can chip in. Comments welcome. That's not a pic of your setup, just a pic of a small section of the speaker grill showing the PSB logo

Thanks for the extra pics. So you're using the Syn 1 mains and Syn 2C center. Nice speakers!
What cable are you using to bi-wire them?

I think the 1C is worthwhile since it has a dedicated midrange driver, which is advantageous for reproducing dialogue that is key to the center channel.

To my ears the Syn 1 leans a bit towards the warmer and lower side. The bass can be a bit much, so I found using the port plug to make it better controlled. The midrange is very good. The highs are good, but not as extended or airy as some others I've heard.
So I would prefer to pair it with cables or components which are a bit brighter.

What AVR are you using now?
As you get better speakers, quality of the amplification is important to bring out the best in the speaker. The high freq harshness you perceived could be from lack of juice or maybe the amp SQ is a bit harsh.

NAD is a well regarded brand. So long as you like the pairing with your speakers then it's good.
Doesn't mean more power is better. Also depends on the characteristic of your amp.

I plugged the middle port. You can try plugging the others to see which suits your room best.

QUOTE(wkang @ Feb 20 2012, 09:35 PM) Thanks. I couldn't find the individual crossovers of each driver online as was thinking to plug the lowest reaching driver, which should be the bottom port. Yeah PSB doesn't give much info on this. So just have to experiment and see what fits your room and preference best.

So now you've blocked the top and bottom ports?
I've blocked the middle ports, which reduces the boominess and cleans up the bass.

You would lose SPL down low in the bass frequencies since blocking the ports reduces the bass output.
Yes I re-ran Audyssey after blocking the ports.
