I've just placed deposit on PSB Alpha B1 speaker. Got it at RM600. Woohoo damn happy now. I've auditioned the speaker before buying it and the quality is absolutely gorgeous.

i'm upgrading my HT system from PC speaker to AVR + speakers. I bought the B1 first because i scared will run out of stock by the time i need it. My room is small and i think i don't need to use a sub.. yet. Will slowly build my system.

Sorry for the noob post. I'll enjoy my speaker. smile.gif

welcome to the club...
so what you think about the B1?

anything else you compare with before you decide for B1?

I have auditioned one unknown brand from US(never heard of this brand), but the promoter told me it's Pyramid Gold S1SE. The shop located at LYP. It sounded sweet but lack of bass for pure music listening purpose.

Another brand i've auditioned was branded brand and the model are above 1k which is not affordable for me.

And Polk Audio RTi6 (never auditioned before) is a good brand and has lots of good review on Amazon but the price is chocking me which is RM1000

The Yamaha NS-P110 (a complete 5.1 system) with a good price which is around RM699. But no, I thought i deserve more quality speakers than this.

hence I auditiones the B1 in A&L Sg. Wang. They tested with Yamaha v363 AVR only and a Marantz CD player. The unknown brand i talked before was tested using a very expensive Amp and Player. But the B1 is far superior. Maybe with the price of RM300, i could make it as a rear speaker only. About the B1, I don't need to say anything anymore about the sound quality, it's totally outstanding. Low, Mids and High seems perfect for my liking and my pockets. At first the promoter quoted me RM700+ but i negotiated with them and got the RM600 price. And i picked B1 also because i thought i don't need a sub for my HT system which is located in my small bedroom.

good to hear of your purchase, if you'd ask me the nsp110 just for temporary solution when you've decided on a AMP but still unsure on which speakers to go for.
The B1 is truly the best bang for bucks. I've actually though of going on with PSB with the Alpha T1/C1/B1 combo, but in the end somehow bought another set.
The Pyramid speaker I think is from Tong Lee right? If not mistaken I've had a look at those speakers before but didn't listen thou. But I'm still not a fan of tube. Most of my auditioned there came out empty handed.
Hope you enjoy your Speakers ... so when are you going to pick them up?
Why didn't you ask bro Arremie? he's selling his whole set.

Damn, i wish i would have notices Arremie's siggy earlier. But NVM. This is my first step to get into 'audiophiles' world, so nothing should i regret for.

Regarding the NSP110, i agree it is just a temporary solution but i think i will stick to 2.0 system before having enough money to purchase rear and center speakers. Thanks for your offer the other day.

I will pick it up next month. Or maybe ask them to deliver (if free) because i might consider buying the Speaker stand which the price is around RM170 as quoted by A&L. Anymore suggestion regarding speaker stand with a good price for the B1?

if you for back..i guess that doesnt matter much..

If you have time, drop by ATS at amcorp mall, if I am not mistaken same floor with A&L. They specialise in wooden speaker stand. They have a few metal as well.

Amcorp Mall in PJ right? Too bad it's quiet far from my place and i don't have free time for the next 2 weeks.

But how about a simple rack/cabinet for my AVR and TV? I don't need the big and expensive one. Wouldn't fit my small room anuway. Any nice recommendation (brand, location of sho etc.?)

Ikea is a bit expensive.lol

A&L quoted me RM9 for 1 feet high quality speaker cable. Is it the right price? I need to get at least 6 feet for each of the speaker. Any other suggestions on speaker cable?

Speaker cables can vary a lot in price. I think A&L supplies Audioquest cables right? To know whether the price is ok or not, you also need to know which model of speaker cable it is.

For RM9 a foot must be Audioquest X2. The cable is cheap but Audioquest banana connector (solder type) can cost u RM20 a piece. One cable terminated both sides already need 4. Imagine bi-wire cable sweat.gif
