Is B1 is the cheapest bookshelves speaker for PSB? How much is the cost?

Will be going to A&L in the afternoon to audition.

I've just placed deposit on PSB Alpha B1 speaker. Got it at RM600. Woohoo damn happy now. I've auditioned the speaker before buying it and the quality is absolutely gorgeous.

i'm upgrading my HT system from PC speaker to AVR + speakers. I bought the B1 first because i scared will run out of stock by the time i need it. My room is small and i think i don't need to use a sub.. yet. Will slowly build my system.

Sorry for the noob post. I'll enjoy my speaker. smile.gif

welcome to the club...
so what you think about the B1?

anything else you compare with before you decide for B1?
*
I have auditioned one unknown brand from US(never heard of this brand), but the promoter told me it's Pyramid Gold S1SE. The shop located at LYP. It sounded sweet but lack of bass for pure music listening purpose.

Another brand i've auditioned was branded brand and the model are above 1k which is not affordable for me.

And Polk Audio RTi6 (never auditioned before) is a good brand and has lots of good review on Amazon but the price is chocking me which is RM1000

The Yamaha NS-P110 (a complete 5.1 system) with a good price which is around RM699. But no, I thought i deserve more quality speakers than this.

hence I auditiones the B1 in A&L Sg. Wang. They tested with Yamaha v363 AVR only and a Marantz CD player. The unknown brand i talked before was tested using a very expensive Amp and Player. But the B1 is far superior. Maybe with the price of RM300, i could make it as a rear speaker only. About the B1, I don't need to say anything anymore about the sound quality, it's totally outstanding. Low, Mids and High seems perfect for my liking and my pockets. At first the promoter quoted me RM700+ but i negotiated with them and got the RM600 price. And i picked B1 also because i thought i don't need a sub for my HT system which is located in my small bedroom.

good to hear of your purchase, if you'd ask me the nsp110 just for temporary solution when you've decided on a AMP but still unsure on which speakers to go for.
The B1 is truly the best bang for bucks. I've actually though of going on with PSB with the Alpha T1/C1/B1 combo, but in the end somehow bought another set.
The Pyramid speaker I think is from Tong Lee right? If not mistaken I've had a look at those speakers before but didn't listen thou. But I'm still not a fan of tube. Most of my auditioned there came out empty handed.
Hope you enjoy your Speakers ... so when are you going to pick them up?
Why didn't you ask bro Arremie? he's selling his whole set.
*
Damn, i wish i would have notices Arremie's siggy earlier. But NVM. This is my first step to get into 'audiophiles' world, so nothing should i regret for.

Regarding the NSP110, i agree it is just a temporary solution but i think i will stick to 2.0 system before having enough money to purchase rear and center speakers. Thanks for your offer the other day.

I will pick it up next month. Or maybe ask them to deliver (if free) because i might consider buying the Speaker stand which the price is around RM170 as quoted by A&L. Anymore suggestion regarding speaker stand with a good price for the B1?

Amcorp Mall in PJ right? Too bad it's quiet far from my place and i don't have free time for the next 2 weeks.

But how about a simple rack/cabinet for my AVR and TV? I don't need the big and expensive one. Wouldn't fit my small room anuway. Any nice recommendation (brand, location of sho etc.?)

Ikea is a bit expensive.lol

what AVR you looking for?

Any entry level AVR. Thinking to buy Pioneer 518 (RM699) but if i can getter the 2nd hand higher end model than 518, it would be better. Somebody here is selling Marantz SR4500 too bad i don't have cash money now.

Try better speaker cables. Canare 4S11 would be a good start smile.gif

What don't you like about the midrange?

Maybe u might have to trade-in and upgrade?
*
Only in music. Movies is perfect already.
Donno. Still finding what is the problem. Maybe the positioning or maybe the optical cable i am using is so cap ayam until the quality is dropped. Will try QED coax or optical as suggested by arremie before. Would probably buy a better RCA cable analog cable.

Same case i had when I started with ht.
anyway mind me asking, are those bookshelf on stands?

1. stands makes a lot of difference.
2. positioning contributes secondly
3. cables as you can afford, but i guess the 4S11 as remy suggested would be a good start, if you can afford more I've heard some saying that the SAXT works well with the Alpha too.
4. You should probably get a better interconnect, optical for music are just thin.
*
Yes, a bookshelves. It's PSB Alpha B1.

1. Currently putting them in the table with my TV. Am planning to buy a pair of speaker stand but currently no stock in A&L. That's the closest shop that able to give me a very good customer service. Desa HT is useless.

2. Would appreciate if you can give me a link to the speaker positioning reference. My room is about 4 X 3 metre.
3. Noted that, thanks.
4. What do you mean by 'better' interconnect? And oh, a noob like me am not sure what is 'thin'.
