I know there's a yoga based martial art in Bangsar, near bangsar village.

You guys might want to consider learning it at home with some video tutorials before going out and get @ss kicked.. lol

Those interested to learn by themselves first can visit. http://www.thelearnersheaven.com/category/martial-art/

There are also courses that teach based on weapon defense, e.g. knife, pistol, etc. Can learn from here.

http://www.thelearnersheaven.com/category/...t/weapon-guide/

Good luck.

Any recommendation places for learning Boxing in PJ area? Focus on real fight/techniques not for health/commercialize purpose. Besides, with sparring too. Any?

Would you encourage a mid 50s guy to take up boxing as a self defence art? Or is there any more suitable art that is recommended? Thank you.

Muay Fit provides that but you'll have to sign up for their whole package. The class' good though. When the trainer feels that you're not a beginner, he'll invite you to a closed advance class with light sparring sessions.

Where do I find karate schools?

Preferably the closest to SS 2.

QUOTE(jurusilat @ Feb 22 2009, 10:51 PM)
There's one in SS2 (same row as the PJ Speech & Drama school).

I have just registered for membership. Anyone here trains there as well?

hihi...anyone learning shaolin kempo at japan club? wan heard some comment
*
shorinji kempo is not just only martial arts, but also incorporates buddhism... it is basically inspired by the chinese shaolin.

the training is pretty brutal though from what i heard. no holds barred. i know of someone who broke a rib bone while training in japan club

Really? but my friend said that I cant learn it because he say Im so THIN and wont be able to throw people == and suggest me go learn kendo....kendo at KL == my mum doesnt allow me to go there == Btw did you heard of Aikido Yamada Kota Kemuning Dojo?
*
Your friend doesn't understand Aikido at all. Aikido's concept is similar to taichi, where you redirect the opponent's force instead of fighting force with force. So it doesn't really matter if you are thin or fat, small or big
