Hey people!
I currently moved to KL from Kuching to further my studies, I've been thinking of getting into a martial art and personally, I think Muay Thai looks pretty impressive. and violent.
Could any of you recommend me some gyms or dojos for muay thai? It would be great if the gyms were around the PJ, Subang, Puchong or OUG areas. Oh yea. I'm looking for a gym that teaches traditional muay thai and not some McDojo that mixes all types of bollocks into kickboxing and calling it Muay Thai. thanks.
From what I've heard, Boxx Warrior is the real deal, but they train pro-fighters, so u better be fit before you even start. As for Jak, I've heard they do a lot of padworks, less or no sparring. So it's up to you to judge what's good for you.
If you do like sparring, come to KDTA, see my links below. We have a very well structured MMA program called CMDP, where we incorporate boxing, kicking, clinching and grappling exactly like the way MMA figthers train. And we spar a lot. So if that's your cup of tea, come on over. FYI, Adam Kayoom (Malaysia's only pro MMA figther and current Muay Thai world champ) trains here whenever he's in the country.
I'm not sure how authentic is the local Muay Thai scene. Generally people go to Thailand to train real Muay Thai. Try checking with the local champ Bernard Radin,
