At USD43.88? I can't say.. Not aware of LM3883RA performance..
More expensive than the LM3886.. should be better!
USD30? Really... well it's kinda close to what rsmalaysia is selling too!

Power/quality/cost wise the GC is a good choice. Balanced.
I got ALL parts including the LM3886 chip from JP!
This is a while back, I'd say for parts alone, its between RM50-60. Power supply is another ball game ya!

A normal good quality regulated PSU should suffice for the GC. At least, I'll start here first.
Last year it cost me around RM70. The bulk of the cost goes to the transformer! This year should be slightly more..

Snubberized PSU is the use of resistor and capacitor network to restore the sound when you have a difficult speakers to drive and by using bigger caps on the power supply, tends to rob away your mids and high ends. The snubber network is supposed to restore this!
This is the best I could explain to you. 

Snubberized PSU also use expensive high speed diodes(MUR860 (RM6 each)) and huge main reservoir caps @10000uF.. not including the toroid!
A 2x30V 225VA can set you back RM154(rsmalaysia price). A 10000uF 40V cap will cost Rm34 while a 63V one is RM150!

Unless you have very hard to drive speakers, a non-snubberized PSU should be fine!

It's just a plating done to any metal..normally we use steel.

"Chrome plating is a technique of electroplating a thin layer of chromium onto a metal object. The chromed layer can be decorative, or it may help provide corrosion resistance."

Looks like it's made of aluminium alloy and some steel plates. Either anodized black or painted black.. Where did you get it?

I normally warm up my stuffs too... with T-Amp, the chip is hardly warm..  maybe the input components need to be warmed up, yes?

I'll bring along my T-Amp.. and every one else too, if they want. Then we can listen together...
