Hey all, I realised that there wasn't a thread for our good ol' heroes in the half shell.
If there is, my apologies. sweat.gif

Anyways, since Neca came out with their comic version of the turtles, I'm pretty sure a lot of ppl have gone back collectin' our good ol' green dudes.
Here are some pics of what I currently have.

I'll keep updated, I'm keen on collecting more n more. Let's make this thread an enjoyable one. If you have anything, do share, whether it's the neca tmnt, the recent cgi movie related tmnt, the vintage tmnt, any ol skool movie merchandise, lunch boxes etc etc.

All above are complete with weapons and accessories, I have yet the time to mix and match them.
The Neca ones are on my shelf, haven't had the time to take pics of them.

Lets keep this thread alive guys!

Anybody realise that the classic Ninja Turtles figures are/will be reissued?

I just read it on Toyfare Magazine. Seems the Classic Turtle van will also be reissued. Chances of them arriving local shops are scarced, so any turtle fan have any idea how to get them at decent price?

Also they'll be releasing 1st Movie version of the figures.

It was released 6 months ago based on the bros in Singapore. To make it more ironic it was sold in most deparmental stores. Now it's hard to find the 4 turtles but you can still find O'neil & the rest. I hear the Turtle Van will be released soon.

this is a hard thread to consistently talk in ... perhaps can make a title such as; 80s/90s popular cartoons .. and we can include others like MASK, Thundercats, Saber Rider, Centurion, Silver Hawk, etc

One thing i regret most in my life....I chopped up my Turtles collection with an axe for fun when i was a kid. I had everything...from Casey Jones to the Foot Soldier. The only thing that i didnt manage to get is the Turtle Blimp. At that time the figures were priced at around RM14 - RM18 if im not mistaken. From Hasbro i guess. sad.gif

These are from TMNT 2012 released by Playmate. Only release in US so far. I am still waiting for them to come to Malaysia. They are surprisingly great.

If I remember correctly, back in the late 80's or early 90's, it costs around RM12.90 each. Used to own Leornado, Donatello, Master Splinter, Shreddar, Foot Soldier and Bee Bop... Love the detail and quality which is something missing from toys nowadays!

Any updates on where I can grab hold of the new series, if not the original Playmates version?

Good news, TMNT fans. I sent an email to playmate to ask whether TMNT will available in Malaysia. And this is the response!

"Thank you for your interest in TMNT toys. The TMTN toys line is not available in the Malaysia market yet, but it will be available in most toys retail stores in 2-3 months time."

Yup, saw the Turtles in TRU..got classic n the modern version...classic one just like the above, awesome figures, RM79.90 each..was thinking so long whether to buy all 4 at one go or not, for the sake of nostalgia biggrin.gif in the end, decide to hold back n cool off 1st tongue.gif one of the factors were the availability of the 4 turtles only, but no Splinter or Shredder sad.gif

The modern version is smaller, but has all the characters, including Kraang and April...but not that nice compared to classic version..

Still contemplating whether to buy or not..the classic version is really accurate and quite highly articulated.. blush.gif

Bebop & Rocksteady are coming next. So maybe April & Shredder if sales are good.

I just worry it might end up like Thundercat Series, start @ rm89, then rm59, later rm39... the sold out.

cool for u to offer, but i think saving rm4 per piece really not worth the hassle carrying it all the way from sg to kl, 4x4 = saving rm16. maybe if lots of stocks like thundercats they might go on offer later keke. gonna wait.

any good stuff in sg? maybe can bring them back instead keke. let me ebay.com.sg 1st. brows.gif

Nice buy Keypad!
I bought the classic versions at first sight... I'll put my pic up here too lol

I admit, the turtles look better without painted eyes... but that's how they looked like in the cartoon.
Though... word of caution when buying these: it's gonna be tough finding ones with good QC, esp the eyes...

Lolz.... Indeed... I spent like 30 minutes going through the lot... Some have rather distorted belt buckles (where the initials is)... And some of them have rather crossed eyes.. Though most have good sets of eyes..

I waited like 20 years to have my own TMNT... Bought the Neca version sometime back but it didn't come close to the Playmate Classics...

RM320 well spent! I am a happy man..... biggrin.gif

Totally agree!

If you're a fan of TMNT from the 1980s, and have RM320 to spare, the Classic Collection versions are a must buy.
Cartoon accuracy + decent size + super articulation = winner!

Yup, wanna wait a bit, who knows got discount later on..10% also jadilah tongue.gif since the classics r double the price of the modern line, I think parents will opt for the modern line for their kids..furthermore, kids nowadays never seen the classics before..which means we adult collectors will have plenty of stock to choose from biggrin.gif

On a side note, it feels so old liao to talk about 'kids nowadays'..heck, I think we collector's of TMNT are kids at heart..LOL! biggrin.gif

Now that I have them I have another dilemma.... I really want to take them out of the box and pose them about.... However there's another part of me not willing to unbox them coz I saw how much the original issue values after 20 years under mint, boxed condition....

Will this edition be valueable one day? I bet they'll reissue the classics again in future..... icon_question.gif

Simple solution bro..just buy another set! tongue.gif unbox 1 set, then keep another biggrin.gif

Ok, jokes aside, I think in 20 years time it will NOT be worth that much..it's now fetching a high price coz the current adults went thru the TMNT craze 20 years ago..now with purchasing power, we tend to collect them based on nostalgia...but the kids today dun hav the chance to watch the classic TMNT, they would not be able to relate when they're adults later..makes sense, no? blush.gif

Thanks keypad! Was sure I'm not the only one who's feelin' the turtle power as I've seen quite a number of people talking/discussing about them when they saw the new toys in TRU.

Don't worry orestes, that's a pretty common issue for the chucks and there's a few great guides online on how to incorporate real (miniature) chains for Mikey. I'd give it a shot one of these days when I could get my hands on the materials.

Awesome spam! I was kinda tempted when these came out last year but shipping turned me off. Glad we can now have the figures at pretty good price I must say (especially when compared to other toy lines that are either decreasing sizes/complexity or increasing prices). The vehicles and playset on the other hand... sweat.gif

Hahaha! the turtles r cheap but i can only ship them in package of two at usd20 each, if i ship 4 altogether, cost usd100..stupid courier service doh.gif
anyway, since m a turtles fan n like the new design a lot, dun mind paying almost rm60 each compared with tru's rm40, i think laugh.gif

Agree, the vehicles r so damn expensive, checked youtube review, the bike shud only cost usd10, basically rm30 but selling above rm80, i think...tempted to get it but....expensive...

Oh, that instrument? it's a soprano sax, used the box to take pic coz it's black n my phone's cam suck laugh.gif

Saxophonist in da house! Was intrigued as I played the flute myself and the velvet cloth looking material seemed familiar.

Back on topic though, I think you've got them for a fair price since there were no indication that TRU is bringing the turtles in (believe they're airing the new Nick TMNT on NTV7 now so that might explain it).

Couldn't agree more on the vehicles, case in point where Sewer Spinnin' Skateboard retails for approx US$10 in the states but it's going for RM69.90 here rclxub.gif

OT Hahaha! m juz a beginner, juz a so-so F horn and trumpet player back in skol n uni days laugh.gif pick up tis new hobby when i ran outta stuffs to collect (gundam, kamen rider, TFs)

Back to topic, found nice skateboards that suit the new TMNT figures from TRU as well, better looking than d super expensive battery operated "skateboard" tongue.gif M waiting for the Battle Shell series, juz wanted Mikey coz he's my fav character since i was a kid...
Anyway, those skateboards cost RM49.90 in a set of 4 tongue.gif bought extra Mikey (4" figure) coz the quality (paint job) of my current one isnt that great tongue.gif

Here r my turtles with their skateboards, ignore d poor quality pic....

U mean those SDCC painted figures? who knows but i know that it's gonna cost a bomb! bought my sdcc lion-o for ~rm250 coz it's SDCC and not goreng price while normal lion-o (8 inch classic line) only cost rm150 at goreng price. TRU brought in normal for RM79.90 LOL

Could you be referring to the Night Shadow Leo? I must admit it's got an attractive paint scheme but too bad the figure was reduced to a statue (which also caught many fans by surprise as they only found out after gettng the figure in hand).

Hahahaha! I took d most "normal" looking skateboards that i can find with d help from my gf but i had to "beg" for a few times for the past 7 days to get my "extra" Mikey laugh.gif ladies sure are tough to deal with...anyway, a quote from my fren when his wife complained bout him buying TFs, "at least i spend time and money on toys/collectibles rather than spending time and money (looking for) with other women (he's muslim, so still bujang 3)" tongue.gif wife bcame supportive of his hobby after that tongue.gif

Din know that the Shadow Leo wasnt an action figure..too bad for those who are interested tongue.gif for me, not into that design, normal turtle colours r just fine laugh.gif

Juz check on the tie point of the bandana, my 1st mikey which I bought online had black harden glue plastic that sticks to it. Notice d same thing when I was tryin to get my 2nd mikey but d extra plastic glue thing's painted in white...
I guess it's juz the tie point of d bandana tat's troublesome. Of all my 5 figures, only Mikey's not tat great, the rest are pretty nice smile.gif
Other quality check 's purely on perfection of paint jobs on d white colour bandage, bandana eyes and teeth etc smile.gif

They're really not bad - good size, articulation and worth the asking price of RM39.90 each more so compared to other action figures in the size region.

When I picked my set up I just cherry picked the neatest paint apps ie. white stays within wraps, bandanna colours don't overrun into face, etc. You'll be spoiled for choices since not many collector/kids picking these up yet at this point in time. laugh.gif

Hope to see more pics from all of you, anyone bought vehicles/play sets already? And for those who're still on the fence, here's some official stop-motion poison for your enjoyment this evening: brows.gif

Nope, bought it from a lowyat forumer, lazy to wait for TRU to bring it in. Went to legoland a few weeks ago but all they hav was only this....which cost RM19.95 each or was it RM19.99...

Think TRU, Jusco etc will be selling them at expensive price, i might as well get it from the forumer...Went to a brick shop in Tropicana last time to get the "Shop" set that cost RM999 or was it RM899, forumers sell them at abt RM800 only doh.gif

Are you trying to paint the turles themselves or their weapons? Read that the weapons are made of waxy plastic that doesn't paint well, it is recommended to sand down and apply primer coat if you really want to paint them. Or there's the permanent marker approach as mentioned tongue.gif

i bud 1 pair at full price, then another pair at rm59.90 each. i gib up oledi when i see rm39.90. but not many stock left so cannot choose nice paint one lo.

the smaller thundercats can get at rm10 - rm24.90 at The Store & Jusco.

Slowly wait i think... The first wave that we have here were released Fall last year, took 1 year to reach here. So....

Even bebop and rocksteady not released in US yet (plan for sept 2013), i think we have to wait until next year.

Here are pics of the san diego comic con, where playmates announced their plans for the years to come. After bebop and rocksteady is movie star TMNT. No shredder sad.gif

Nick TMNTs are $8.88 in US, retros are a bit expensive $12.99 whereas 6 inch classic collections are $16.99

That said, Nick are RM39.90 here and 6 inch classic are RM79.90,
i guess retros should be between RM50 to RM60 a pop.... expensive for 4 inch figures but who can resist?

Retro wave 1 comes in set of 6

This list is missing vehicles.

On top of my head, i only can remember 2013 got 1 exclusive Leo with AT3 Bike.
2014, got exclusive donatello with submarine (the love machine)
pics i post later when i get home lah, office pc don't have.

By the way, the retros are exclusive to TRU (at least in US lah).
Meaning, if u wanna wait until it release in tesco, giant etc.... it may never happen.

Can you tell the heads for the retros are all hard or soft rubber?

I remember my original turtles the Raph & Mike head are soft can squeeze one but Don & Leo are hard, then i got the reissues all are hard heads. If they sell at rm60 for retro i at most buy Shredder. They released retro turtles & few bad guys & party van few years back available in SG but never came to MY. I think price was rm40 or rm50.

Oh izzit? I miss out on the previous release.
If you think this is expensive, they gonna re-release party van too but at a whopping $59.90.
In year 2008 i heard the party van re-release was only $20.

Not sure, but this is most definitely hard heads like the previous re-releases. Also, you can check the bottom of their feet, should be printed 2013 instead of 1988.

The Soft head was really fun to squeeze, but i think depends on which country some had soft heads while most had hard heads.

Party Van for $60, guess gonna skip. They think people who would buy them are adults who now making big dollars.

No. Soft heads are the originals, released in 1988. Not sure exact date but hard heads came maybe like in 1990. Both are
vintage but soft heads are the first batch, hence they are worth more on ebay although hard heads are more durable.
If they re-release turtle blimp, $100 also i buy lol

I bought them around the same time soft & hard heads. Soft head looks nicer because it has the flat look, hard head abit glossy.

QUOTE(King83 @ Aug 12 2013, 12:07 AM)
No. Soft heads are the originals, released in 1988. Not sure exact date but hard heads came maybe like in 1990. Both are
vintage but soft heads are the first batch, hence they are worth more on ebay although hard heads are more durable.
If they re-release turtle blimp, $100 also i buy lol

Must be old stock then.
Hard heads has a line at the side of the head, as if someone stick the back and front part of the head together, u know what i mean?
That's how u identify soft/hard heads without opening the box.

Don't remember that, but can tell from just looking since the color & finishing is different for the hard & soft.

Wow! Turtle Blimp and Cheapskate my fav back then..

I noticed TRU / Parkson not selling (yet?) these items:-

1. Mutagen Ooze Cruiser & Copter
2. Raph & Mikeys / Leo & Donnies Buggies

Saw the Turtles Secret Sewer Lair Playset though. Fuh, RM599 sweat.gif

I think sooner or later it will be relaunched..as long as the current available toys are doing great sales..which they are, judging from the difficulties to find the Turtles in TRU stores these days..

Yup...i went to a few TRU around PJ and only limited classics available....latest is i saw only Raph and Mike still around, but no Leo and Don....i still remember when they were 1st launched here, i saw them in Ikano's TRU....got plenty to choose from. I didn't buy then coz RM79.90 each is a bit expensive....but looks like there's more 80's babies than i thought...all kena sapu liao sweat.gif

Jusco stocked the new & classic turtles, hopefully they will be on clearance bin in few months time, or at least 10% off.

Also i had the parachute thing, but it never worked. You throw it up in the air it just drops like any other toys, doesn't glide at all...

I had the Blimp, but it was too big when inflated, then the balloon was lost, even if it's still in some cupboard it probably has deformed or cracked after so many years.

I still had the lower part of the blimp, but all those laughing grenades etc were given out accidentally.

Too big la!

The Cheapskate, can use 4 of them...

seems they moved the stocks from toysrus to parkson, jusco etc. so chances of them being in the bargain bin is close to none.

Never noticed the pricing until now. Seems stupid to pay RM239.90 for this.
Buying individually will cost only RM239.40 (RM39.90 x 6).

If i'm not mistaken, the 4 pack in 1 (all 4 turtles) is sold for RM140 which is reasonable.
But your best bet is just to buy from AEON Jusco if u are a member, they have up to 10% discount during sales (which is most of the time) plus they give you RM5/RM10 vouchers for purchases over RM100.

rm129.90 actually. got one. like the 6 pack, it doesnt come with a weapon spool. if u're okay with not having the extra weapons, then it's 30 bucks cheaper! tongue.gif

Up to you... Do you like battle shells or would u prefer variants?
If you like variants, then you better wait cos they will be releasing DOJO 11" turtles.

I prefer the original. Thinking of getting the 4-pack. I think I will get them next month, as this month I have spent a lot already.

Will definitely post a photo here when I get them next month. Hope will still be able to get them next month...haha

Btw, not getting the McD TMNT, don't think they look so good. sweat.gif

Guys, save your money.
i have unconfirmed sources telling me retro turtles will be released sometime May this year.

If you don't know what retro turtles are...
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Also, classic collection Bebop and Rocksteady will also be released around the same time.

May will be a poor month for us.
But of course, this means they will be arriving in our region but whether what shop will carry and stock on them, nobody knows.

Retro are the same as the current nickelodeon line... about 4.5 inches.
Retros are first released from 1988 to 1997, but most mould are lost.
These are re-releases, meaning they use back the same mould to recreate it.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Classic Collection are below...
they are 6 inches tall, and are the most articulated figures by playmates toys aimed at collectors (not for kids).
Good for posing and display on your shelves.

The retros should sell out like hot cakes due to it being nostalgic because of people like me buying. And i really need to replace my old party wagon, it is old and missing a lot of parts.

Who likes?
All the fans raging hard now.

But on the plus side, i think these will be on sale very quickly together with the movie.
That's how movie toys work right? They always come fast...... unlike the current nickelodeon line, it is 1 year slow from US' launch.

what? u mean the 6 inch one?
Make sure it's not bootlegs.... bootlegs don't have finger articulation and all their bases are Leonardo's base.
Also bootleg boxes don't have the words playmates toys written on it.

Meh..... I know they were in Japan since 2 months ago.

Here's what the Japanese packaging looks like.

$SGD 80 for Party Wagon,
$SGD 20 for each figure.

Which is quite decent and expected price...
Because when these were launched in US, they were priced $USD 13 each (basic nick figures are $USD8.99 or $USD9.99).
The Party Wagon goes for $USD 60 initially, then later dropped down to $USD 40 (still expensive!!!)

So i knew the figures were going to be more expensive than the RM40 nick figures. If you read my older posts in this thread, i predicted it to be RM50 for the retro figures.

Btw, this retro line has been discontinued in US, no more in production that's why i am desperate to get them.
Didn't have money left to get the mech wreckers (the ninja turtle in robot suit) sad.gif

Not to mention classic collection bebop and rocksteady also gonna be released together with this.

thx for the reply, i'm guessing Japanese release has different printings compared to US.

i have the 4 vintage turtles but since price is not as expensive as classic lines i don't mind getting the mint on card.

party wagon is the one i really want. hope they release cheapskate, just got a vintage for rm50 but the seller left out the shield... claimed to have resent the shield, but never arrived... sigh...

i will order from amiami since the difference between them & hobby search is just less than rm5 for 6 figs + party wagon.

don't know much about the mechs, so not gonna get them. makes good toys for kids though. i suggest folks getting 2 sets if you have kids.

Local toysrus probably not gonna stock them.

Get from Amiami also around same price la after add shipping. If you buy whole set + Turtle van (not including 2 mechs) the shipping may cost around rm100 for EMS split them up each item cost around rm15 so about the same.

Retros are closer to 4 inches.
Nick turtles are 4.5 to 5 inches depending on character.

Smaller is better than bigger i guess, so definitely can fit.

but yeah, really expense. I would only pay this kind of money for OT turtles (OT = Old Turtles/Original Turtles).... not Nick turtles design.

Btw, Playmates changed the stealth tech turtles....
now this is officially the first "variant" we have.

The first release in USA came with zip lines/a piece of rope on the top right corner.
Later they removed it, i dunno, maybe to reduce cost 'cos these didn't sell very well.

For Malaysian release, we are getting the non-rope one sad.gif

With zipline

hornestly, the detail of the 5" movie figure is awesome. thumbup.gif
even some of the paint a bit off but over all still acceptable for me. i likes the way of their eyemask witout eye ball coloring & lucky the turtle head still maintain some of the classic looks wit the new modern body design, so it looks cool for me. not only outfit, each of turtle shell & color tone oso different, it bring out of each figure personality. im not a tmnt big fan oso cannot resist to bought all home tongue.gif
over all 4 turtle figure, Raphael is the best.

Well, just got a new haul today, so here's a quick review for those of you thinking of getting the new Turtle Assault Van...

The Good
- Nice mix of the classic van and Shellraiser design
- More opening doors than the Shellraiser, and proper 'seats' to put 2 turtles
- Same size as the Shellraiser

The Bad
- With the luge vehicle inside, there's only room for 1 figure
- Hard to balance an extra figure on the roof (no handle there)
- Back and top doors have no latch; not very secure

Summary: Nice looking vehicle to have (I prefer its looks over the Shellraiser), but only buy if you're ok with difficult sticker application.

Very nice, thanks for the pics.
Mine is still mint in package.

Btw, i traded with an american collector and he sent me the first american release of the stealth tech turtles that comes with ropes (top right corner).
The one on the right is the international, outside US version.

I have checked out the movie released action figures in TRU Sunway this evening. The quality in 5" figures are kinda disappointing. Colours are kinda messed up, the molded scalp on Leonardo and Michealangelo are a little bit offset in placemend to their heads. The first glance did not trigger any desire to bring them home.... sad.gif

The 11" however is just super nice... Not too sure of it's articulation points.... Are they poseable as in the classic Playmates relaunch?

At RM129.90, it is a turnoff for me to get them... It doesn't excite me as much as the Classic relaunch did to me... Somehow as a childhood fan of TMNT, my inner voice is telling me to grab hold of each figure, one at a time every month (so that the missus doesn't jump at me....)

Anyone got their 11" yet...? biggrin.gif

Or maybe they will go back to movies again and do Tokka & Rahzar. Still a lot of figures.

Becareful of the cheap ones... those are bootlegs.

Color also abit dull, but they dare sell at rm60, now baru concious sell set of 4 for rm80, but if you like DIY painting, i guess ok, dunno the quality.

QUOTE(King83 @ Aug 11 2014, 11:16 AM)
Time Machine 2nd floor Times Square has Retro Shredder.
The rest sold out, you are a bit slow.

Krang and Foot Soldier retro just released in US, so it'll be awhile before we get it.
yawoh, i still waiting too.
Becareful of the cheap ones... those are bootlegs.
Easiest way to tell is the packaging no "playmates" logo and the fingers has no articulation.

Raphael has been the fan favourite since a very long time....
The retros also, Raphael sold out first.

Raphael is also the only turtle to get a Turtle in Disguise figure.

Lolz... Thanks for the info bro... I thought I read about some scalpers trying to make some quick buck with Raphael's figure....

I am still contemplating about getting the 11 inches movie figures... But too darn expensive...

Currently I have 3 different Turtle sets in my hand... Only the latest one bought yesterday were unboxed.. My Playmates classics and also NECA releases are too precious to play with.. Hehe...

I think it's Bootleg, as there are no Playmates Logo on the top left corner.
And most important, it's too cheap...
Anyway, if you don't mind bootleg, I think it's worth buying, just to play. But not sure about the quality!! sweat.gif

Not very good, they don't hold their weapons very well, will keep falling off.
Also shoulders can only turn 360, can't move up down, in and out.
Also a lot of QC problems like 2 left/right leg etc.
You can see them on my sales thread.

But if you just wanna display them, i think they look great.
From far you really can't tell.

Recently during a trip to the curve's TRU, i stumble across the turtles in training - Leo & Donny. I think there like 3-4 more sets of them, but no Raph and Mikey set. Been looking high and low for Raph and Mikey all around TRUs and can't seem to find them. Anybody knows where I can get my hands on them?

Finally, after 2 years..... TRU dropped price of the Classic Collection turtles.

If that's the case, i could've chose not to redeem my RM20 credit and then i only need to top up RM10.20 to get the RM20 voucher.
Waste RM10 on junk i don't need means i really only gain RM10 and have to come here spend more money before the 1 month expiry date made me chose not to go that route.

Still happy i scored these for RM60 a piece.

Ebay.
But Ebay also got a lot of fake Neca turtles.

Neca turtles production was stopped a long time ago, so very limited in the market that's why original Neca turtles are super expensive on ebay.
How to know if it's original? Don't buy tube packages.... try to get rectangular packaging or 4 in 1 packs.

and there are no Black and white fake Neca turtles so those are definitely real.

Summit USJ, it ended on 3/4.
Didn't go to the one in last December, so was just dropping by.
Huge price slash for the figures, RM10 each.
Patrol buggies going for RM40. Other vehicles @ RM30.

There's should be another warehouse sales this December.
Should go and check it out.

thumbsup.gif Definitely, coz it's selling for RM140 @ Hamley's.
I didn't know Metrojaya carry TMNT toy lines till now.

Mine ¥68, so it comes to around RM55 after shipping.
That's the cheapest I could find. Most of it selling at ¥99 - ¥199.
The box looks old, but the content is ok.

Bit the bullet and bought Casey Jones. Only cos it's Casey Jones. And Green Arrow.

But it still feels like a waste of money. I saw all the other figures available and it's all pretty low sculpt detail, little paint variation and sloppy paint jobs. Shredder and the Foot Soldiers look like a joke. The figures from the first movie are much better. Don't buy these new ones unless you missed out on the first movie figures, and really really want some movie turtles.
