17 secs? The 10 secs method works when its in OFF state and connected to itunes. Whats with the first 7 secs and then 10 secs?

Sum of the phones need this method to get it into DFU. Hafta hold both Power n Home button for 7secs, when USB beeps, quickly let go Power n keep holding Home for another 10 secs until USB beeps again. Mebe sum phones very stubborn like donkey. Need big kick in bekside b4 going to DFU. My other iPhone just use 10 secs kautim.

Aiya uncle ... that one don't count la as 7 secs + 10secs. The 10 secs rule apply to how long u need to press power + home button. After 10 secs then release the power button but keep on pressing home until itunes detect the phone in restore mode.

So for any noobs out there, dont get confused.... This is the exact way to be done...

Sum phones dont work with 10 secs. My 2nd iPhone didnt work with the normal 10 secs way. Stumped me as to y I cudn DFU it until I read sleepers site on how to DFU if there are probs with 10 secs method. He oso sed to use the 7+10 method. I tried it n it worked the 1st time. Those that dont work with 10 secs need to try 9,8 or 7 secs.

Waaa like dat oso have aaaa. No SOP la like that. Some 10 sec and some 7 sec.

Easiest is use Pwnage Tool. The app comes with indicators on screen when you have successfully entered DFU mode. No guesswork, no maybes.

Ok some review after a few days of using 2.0.1 Winpwn-ed


Start up:-
Takes up more than 25-30 seconds to load up. Anyone has the same experience. kinda frustrating to wait that long *but its worthwhile after you're in*

SMS:
still lags when opening new sms - similar to 1.1.4

Keyboard:
typing sound effect doesnt click now but itt 'shuttle' click...similar when locking the phone's sound - kinda irritating.

However, if you disable the sound effect, i find the typing is smoother and more responsive!

Oh...chinese language is GREAT! amazing stuff you could do with your 'stylus' !

Cydia:
i would say its faster than the previous Installer but let's waiti till more apps are in.
Installation is faster and more standardized / systematic.

MxTube:
Clearer and sharper video playback!

Appsupport - kau tim with instruction given by LYN forumers.

...so far itu macam..more to report.

p/s re on Safari,

in 1.1.4 if you open up multiple safaris, the in active safari wont load until you active it....i havent test out if 2.0.1 enhanced this or not...

just to share some experience..(all done with winpwn 2.0.0.4.)

try to upgrade from 2.0 to 2.0.1.
first try (partition 602mb) after dfu mode..got error 6 at itunes.
second try (partition 750mb) winpwn crash while building custom ipsw file.
3rd try (partition 512mb) succesfully done 2.0.1.

p/s : read from sleeper.net that if got error 6 from itunes, its about root partition.n some said n lots agree that setting the partition to sumthing that can be divide by 8 is the solution. (i try n i succeed).

I got problem on error 6 but its not all the they said online!! its due to my Vista & Mcfee

550MB and 600MB root partition..sailing smooth. No probs

yup..it says 512 n 1024 will do..but 1024 is to much to waste..so i'll go for 512..
as i experienced,602 n 750mb wudnt work.i dont know..maybe i dont have much luck like u guys..i just follow the divide by 8 theory from sleepers.net.

alright.. first time jailbreaker here.. going to use winpwn 2.0.0.4 tonight and i have a few 'noob' questions.. please help..

1. tried to backup my data using iphonebrowser for windows but can't seem to find the folders.. any advise?
2. do we check or uncheck the you tube activision fix?
3. since we're using local telco providers, do we check the activate phone box in advanced tab?
4. i've my unlocked iphone 1.1.4 fw, so do i need to unlock again with bootloader 3.9/4.6 with winpwn?
