dont waste money on the disposable/reusable cheap film underwater cameras. i bought a film one for 70 or 80, used it once, and put it aside after that, so bad the pic quality.

if u going snorkelling - buy the waterproof pouch for your digital camera, can go 5m or so.

for diving - better invest in a marine case, or rent from dive centre. taking UW pics is fun!

Just came back from 6D5N at Manado. Dived with Minahasa Divers at Hotel Sedona. Awesome divemasters and dive center. We did a day trip to Lembeh and the macro life at Lembeh was one of the best I've dived so far - family of pygmy seahorse and various nudibranches, also saw an electric clam. A very sad thing was that Bunaken and Manado had lots of rubbish on the surface. Lembeh was fantastic though. The underwater world was awesome and the corals were very beautiful but the surface was a whole different story all together. Will definitely go back to dive in Lembeh in the future.

Total damage:-
USD638/person include 3 boat dives a day, accommodation and meals
SilkAir SIN-Manado roughly RM1100/person
AirAsia KL-SIN roughly RM200/person include baggage allowance
Rp50,000 per day for Bunaken and Lembeh marine park fee

I have a Canon S95 and a Canon G9 with Canon underwater housing. All bought from US except S95 housing bought from a friendly forumer here (website is Camera2u.com).

If you are just going to use it a few times for snorkeling, then get a Dicapac (or something similar). You can not only use it in the sea, you can also use it when you do outdoor activities. Here are some authorized dealers for Dicapac in Malaysia: http://www.dicapacmalaysia.com/where-to-buy/
There are also some online sellers here on this forum, I've seen quite a number of people selling Dicapac and similar items.

Can't wait that long. I have 4 dive trips until April 2013.

How much cheaper can you get in Adex or Mide? I am looking to upgrade my reg and BCD.

Hello people.

Interested in learning scuba diving.
Can anyone explain the breakdown of it?

Do I need to go through the beginner stage then only can proceed to Open Water Dive?

Which are the reliable and affordable dive centres I can learn and get my license from?
Most probably going for the course alone so gotta be safe.

Thanks!

The course itself is around 900++. If you are taking the course in Selangor area, i think those dive center will have you learn the confined water training in their pool and also their MCQ exam. After that, go to island for open water diving. Personally, I would recommend you to take this because 4D3N is too short biggrin.gif . I took 4D3N course on the island and don ahve time to enjoy the island. Haha.

I'm not sure which dive center to recommend. Not from selangor area. tongue.gif Ask those sifus here

I went for 4D3N course on Redang. A lil bit rush but overall, I enjoyed it. Your daily activity will be like this wakeup->dive->eat->dive->eat->dive->eat-> study . Haha, yeah you can take the course straight away
