Hi all sifu,
I'm so happy finally got kakis for bonsai here. I'm pretty newbie to bonsai eventho I've read a bit on it. Bought a few from San Fong 2 years ago but didn't really look after them until quite recently. Since then I've been hooked on it. Bought a few more trees 2 weeks back tongue.gif... Hope to learn more from the sifus. Great to know u all here. Took me 2 days to read the recent posts.

A 'Japanese maple'. Growing well, has been a year with me now. The seller told me most maples selling here r grafted. This jap maple grafted onto another hardier maple base.
Attached Image
A coniferous type but not sure what also. The seller told me 'silver pine/spruce/juniper' ? Cantonese 'ngan chung'... Literally translate to silver worm... tongue.gif my dotta ask me to get her a Christmas tree so I bought this plant from a nursery but ended up as my bonsai.

Trying my hands on a forest wrightia r. All from branch cutting. Planted together for about 3 months.
Attached Image
Another maple I got for about 2 months. Supposedly a 'Chinese maple'. Grafted as well. This tree was originally about 2' tall now being reduced to about 7". Looks like it's surviving.
Attached Image
A pomegranate. Bought as a fruit plant but as usual ended up in my bonsai pot. It was about 3' tall now being reduced to about 1' now. Intend to reduce it further. Has been with me for about 2 months.

Hi Alvchin,

drool.gif  u got quite some collection!

Nice cucur attap!

[attachmentid=3407842]

Give a suggestion on the dead wood preservation.

Sand paper or use fine wire brush the dead wood EXTRA carefully. If u break the wood .... cry.gif
Apply lime sulphur solution, when dry (usually over night) apply carefully 2 coats of colourless wood varnish.
Wood varnish can be bought from any hardware shop, it has water repelling effect.
If the dead wood have any rotten part, scrap the part off until solid wood.

Good luck to your nice Cucur attap!
*
Thanks bonsailelong!
I have repot the tree but I didn't really clear the roots near the trunk area. I was hoping to let it grow a bit more vigorously before treating the dead wood. I'm using sulphur solution to bleach but I haven't use any varnish on it yet. Next round will dig all the way. Hahaha.

Ah?!! Haiya a cypress ka? False somemore. The seller told me it's pretty rare so ask me quickly grab. Ahahaha.
The maple I got from Sg Buloh kusta centre side. It was like dried up & the seller told me it's shedding & will grow again. I just have to trust him. Hahaha I just love to try my hands on at least 1 plant.
Some shots on the leaves to help id the plants.
Thanks again Bonsailelong.

Most terrible material?!! Hahahaha... I just bought 2 & have 2 other from nursery. But not sure exact specie. The one I bought from a nursery in Sg Buloh is a really slow growing one.
I also have 2 small leave guava & seems also not easy material. Anyway I'm trying all these shrub plants hoping to learn enuf before I move into real trees.
And thanks for the ID bro! I hope these plants r not short living type.

Wow!! Geng chao!! Hahahaha. Me finally cannot wait & go right to the root of my cucur atap. The whole piece dead wood already rotted from the root & was held together by the soil. Not even the roots. So no choice, split the 2 apart. Now a bit funny & hopefully it lives to tell the story.

Hi Alvchin,

[attachmentid=3417133]

Not bad even without the dead wood.
It will be better if your cucur attap can have some foliage ramification works.
*
Ramification ... That's all missing from my plants :lol
My cucur atap had been unhealthy for a while. That's y I decided to dig right up to the root. The soil did not have much drainage I guess which causes the bottom to rot. Didn't have much roots actually. I hope it'll survive.

If I've not noticed wrongly, your soil might have problem.
If you have bought your cucur attap from Sanfong, you can notice that all Sanfong's cucur attap are planted with sand.
*
Ya I bought from sanFong. If its sand probably the drainage would be fine right? When I took it off it's kind of like black soil but muddy wet. I guess over the last few months there has been more rain than sunlight. B4 the rainy season since probably Oct last year it was still growing fine. My first cucur atap & I failed to notice it's not in good health. Not sure it can survive as all the leaves starting to dry out.

As far as I know, the only plant nursery selling black pine in Sg Buloh is the one beside the high way heading towards K Selangor.
Chinese name - AH Sui Bonsai Nursery. The range of price from rm400 to 1k. But the black pine there are seasoned and get use to our weather
and already got initial styling.

You are always welcome to join in to go to Melaka. Ming Ho Yuen is a nice pleasant place to visit.
*
Wow! I would love to join in if the timing is right. Do u guys normally go on a weekday or weekend?
