Hi G400x2 This Huang Yang seen to have survive through a disaster, and therefore suggest you give it a disastrous cut. The idea is try to get it into a shape something like this. Added on December 10, 2012, 11:02 pm QUOTE(g400g400 @ Dec 10 2012, 09:08 AM) added you as friend in FB, you got nice Huang Yang, i love them. i see you put the pot in the open so subjected to rain and sun, does it affect the plant? recently it's been raining cats and dog in my area... i keep mine on the side of the patio, so rain cannot touch them , but then i need to water them everyday... It rains like nobody's business here too. As long as the pot holes are not blocked, Huang Yang can take a lot of water. this the time to add fertilizer to let it grow and trim and grow and trim and grow big fast! I've yet to have enough time to trim all of them nicely, so some look messy. (Ooop! Hope we are not monopolizing this topic in Lowyat.NET) This post has been edited by Bonsailelong: Dec 10 2012, 11:03 PM |

QUOTE(g400g400 @ Dec 11 2012, 09:13 AM) Once again tqvm for your trenmendous effect in suggesting your opinion on the trim/shaping ideas for my Huang Yang. I see all your Huang Yang grows very well and very healthy. i really envy them. I will find time to start to work on my huang yang this evening and post here to show you the result.. Doesn't seems to be any more active bonsai kaki in lowyat ( except both of us ) BTW, talking about the value of Bonsai how can you see how much does a Bonsai plant worth? How do we gauge the value?? Sometime i go to Bonsai nursery they put a price tag, is it too expensive? too cheap? just right? how we gauge that? for eg. your Huang Yang, this one is value at how much?? and this!! [attachmentid=3197394] Priceless, I won't sell it This post has been edited by Bonsailelong: Dec 11 2012, 04:42 PM |

Today is Selangor Sultan's Birthday and so is my Bonsai Day! This's something I've been waiting to do for some times. Done with some green to the soil too. will allow it to grow for sometime before trimming. Added on December 11, 2012, 4:36 pm QUOTE(g400g400 @ Dec 11 2012, 01:46 PM) Sorry i think you get me wrong, i am not asking you to sell i am asking on your opinion on gauging the price of bonsai. Friendly speaking I don't know. Over here there are bonsai nursery selling bonsai from few RM to 5 figure RM. I only like to go to bonsai nursery to observe the shape and the type of trees they have and buy a pot or some wires. This post has been edited by Bonsailelong: Dec 11 2012, 04:36 PM |

QUOTE(g400g400 @ Dec 12 2012, 07:41 AM) Hi, Bonsailelong, one question i wanna ask for your opinion, if the leaves starting to get yellow then later drop off, is it normal, is it sign of something is wrong? too much water? too much fertiliser? or ??? Huang Yang need as much as water as possible but not blocked drain hole and water stagnant within the pot. In your case I think is the soil mix as well as the fertilizer. Like I suggested earlier, change the soil and apply thin N46 solution weekly. |

QUOTE(g400g400 @ Dec 13 2012, 10:28 AM) Hi, Bonsailelong, i understand there is a type of (medication) where you apply to the bark of the tree to remove the green algea, adn make it looks very clean. Do you know the name of those thing? It's white in color if not mistaken, i have seen ppl apply on the Huang Yang tree bark, but when i ask them, they say to protect the bark, but sort of refuses to tell me the actual name... Don't know exactly what's the chemical that you are talking about. I usually spray sulphur solution to the barks to prevent small ants from making nest in the gaps. May be the one you are talking about is the colourless wood preservative that use to brush over the dead wood part of the bonsai which can be bought from hardware shop. I never use that on my Boxwoods. Added on December 14, 2012, 6:11 pm Hi Bonsai Kaki out there, why not post something or photos of your bonsai to keep this topic rolling! QUOTE(Bonsailelong @ Oct 23 2010, 09:08 PM) Walking along the street with these gigantic ficus bonsai give u real great feeling. FiCUS I never like ficus until one day I got a chance to walk along a street in Sezuan China with 2 rows of gigantic ficus bonsai which simply gave me a terrific great feelng. since then I was wondering I could one day plant and train at least one pot of ficus to become such a size without drawing RM from my pocket. Too sad to say, I think I never be able to success. If any body have any ficus bonsai story to tell and experience to share, I'm sure every bonsai kaki here will enjoy that. In here, I show off my ugly hamper ficus bonsai which I started 2 years ago and looking for ficus sifu to comment. This post has been edited by Bonsailelong: Dec 15 2012, 09:24 PM |

Hi G400x2 You got some good bonsai materials. Hope You don't mind I give a little of my suggestion. An apex is the first rule of bonsai. Cut all at one side and eventually be trained into wind swept style. |

My one and only Purple Smoke Bush - Cotinus Coggygria Propaganda from a branch cutting 4 years ago, re potted recently in a 50mm height pot which is actually cut from a portion of a large pot. Trimmed and partially defoliated. It will need sometimes to recover before getting back the beautiful thick purple foliage. (I've seen a stunting gigantic Purple smoke Bush bonsai in a famous bonsai nursery but unfortunately no photos are allowed. Anybody got the experience of bonsai of this species to share? I'm looking forward to learn more about it.) |

This tropic was started on Aug 2008. Quite of lot of interesting photos and many skillful bonsai kaki started posting. Then it became a free commercial place. (I was also one of those involved) The editor issued warning. Then...... quiet....quiet.... Well, who dare to say we Malaysian are not money minded. At this point, I would like to say " Let pull up our socks again and show others that BONSING is our interest and hobby." Making money is another chapter ( the most important chapter) in lives. Happy BONSAING for all bonsai kaki out there. Thank you. This post has been edited by Bonsailelong: Dec 23 2012, 03:32 PM |
