This evening, took 3hrs to complete hook up the auto watering system for my bonsai :-
The arrival of parcel from Penang..
[attachmentid=3315621]
Inside the contain, all in order...
[attachmentid=3315624]
The parts i bought for 40 pots...
[attachmentid=3315626]
Hook up the auto timer to the mains....
[attachmentid=3315630]
Here's how it look after hook up...
[attachmentid=3315633]
Another view...
[attachmentid=3315650]
The overall view after hookup... looks ugly with the tubes around the pots... cry.gif  cry.gif  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif
[attachmentid=3315656]
My comments, it works as of now, i wonder how long will it last, the tubes under the sun i think wouldn't last long, and also one dripper is not enough for one pot, as it tends to water on the spot only, the other side of the pots not watered, ie. no even watering, unless you put 2-3 dripper in one port to ensure even watering ... but then would increase the price. i put it on Auto mode... lets see tomrrow it will do the work properly or not... whistling.gif  whistling.gif  rclxms.gif

Looks like a kind of advance Technic, and at least your bonsai won't dry up while you are away.

Hi g400

I've a suggestion to solve your problem.
Bring 3 - back-bags, put the packed bonsai in them carry one at your back and one with each hand.
I'll send you to a commuter station in UPM or Bangi which is further down from Kajang which will have less people boarding the train.
You can save your taxi money to buy another pot of bonsai. rclxms.gif

Hi guys,

Remember this air layer done on the 01/01/2013 post 333.

Attached Image Attached Image

The result is just as expected. whistling.gif

The roots should be able to develop into a ball like shape in another month's time before cutting and planting
it into a pot.

Bought 3 pots of bonsai materials in Min Hoe Yuen yesterday. Bought another black pine, a Lavender purple star and a small Brazilian rain tree. But
the nursery owner called it Asam Jawa.

The purpose of buying another Black pine is to try out whether air layering can work with black pine in our climate or not.
This is it, after the whole process of air layer works, and instead of using plastic sheet, a small plastic cup is used to contain the soil material.

My little " chee wei " - a specie of the Malpighia family has developed a lot of flower buds
and will have a full bloom in a couple of days's time.
I've decided to give it a "snake" like semi cascading shape before the flowers bloom to mark this lunar year of the Snake.

Hi Kidz,

Wow! you really mean business rclxms.gif

That's a Premna imported from Taiwan.

First is to keep it alive in your environment. Premna can expose to 100% sunlight but requires sufficient water. Water it at least once a day.
In your case I suggest your keep it in an area where it has at least 70% of sunlight first, maybe 1 month later move it to a full sun area.
The soil is moss mixed soil, will decompose and give nutrient to the plant, so it's good enough for at least 3-4 months.
And no fertilizer is needed for the time been. If you feed it now, you will get the leaves growing bigger. Over feeding can result leaves turn yellow and say
"bye bye" to your plant. cry.gif
And I think the other plant you though is anak is a kind of succulent weed that always come with moss mixed soil.
The only thing that you need to do now, is not only keep it alive but also keep it in shape. (As the branches grow, it will run out of shape.)
Prune back, at the joint areas as shown to keep it look the same all the time. At the same time, get another bonsai material to work on, one is
always not enough. brows.gif brows.gif brows.gif

Kidz,

Congrats, seems like you went to Min Hoe Yuen already.

This Premna from Taiwan came about September 2012, if i'm not mistaken the sifu said came about 400 pots, and by now i think left about 10 pots only in the 1st nursery of MHY. I bought 1 pot of this also.
It's uprooted style. I manage to propogate 3 more anak from the pruning of the this premna. Easy to grow from cutting so i think you just let it grow for awhile as they grow very fast. When you have a long sucker showing, cut it and grow more premna as it will soon be your bonsai material in a few years.

As Bonsailelong advised, get more to work with. 1 is never enough..hihi

Good Luck!!

For just one Buddha, half a spoon is too much, that could be the reason your tree leaves became yellow at the edge.
