DO NOT BUY FROM THUNDER MATCH or its Branches

Guys,

Just a note to all who wanted to ANYTHING at all from Thunder Match @ Lowyat or any of its branches, My advise is DO NOT buy from Thunder Match as their customer service is really piece of shit.

Incident:

1. Bought a Checkplate laptop bag from Thunder Match.
2. The bag is faulty and damaged my shirt.
3. Accepted 1st time to swap bag.
4. Within 1 month, bag got problem again, they PROMISED to exchange it with another brand of my choosing.
5. When i arrived to change, they REFUSED to honour their agreement made by their MANAGER
6. If it happen to me for a laptop bag, it will happen to you, PERIOD!


Update:

1. Met Checkplate guy during PC Fair.
2. Great guy and explained that he only aware of this incident via this post.
3. He immediately offer to exchange my bag with any model i like, no question asked.
4. I am happy with Checkplate now.

Both, the bag's quality and the customer service are an issue

Which part of the bag that is damaged and somehow damage your property? I have been using this same bag for many months and so far it has been good. Maybe you should go back to CheckerPlate's mother company, the manufacturing company. I learn that their mother company is the Swan company making school bags. CheckerPlate is a brand for their new product.

the metal support structure at the bottom left came out. It damaged my shirt.

I tried to call their general line for >7 working days, no one pick up the phone.

Regardless who made the bag, it is not performing as it should.

may I know what's the price of this bag?

for me its either deuter or karrimor but i am using high sierra and the quality also not bad.

The bag cost RM120 during PC Fair.

I got the same one for RM80 from ASUS booth the last PC Fair earlier this year. My sis-in-law bought a notebook but they didn't mention it was a purchase with purchase.

go for crumpler ... I've been using it for 3 years now ... I bring it to college then uni then now work ... no problem ... other than it looks dirty only ... hehehe =)

I got a file from Checker-Plate as a freegift from Pikom. LOL...
If you want to invest in a good quality bagpack, I recommend Targus!

I can attest to the original poster's problems since I had the same experience. The metal lining came out as shown in pics after less than 1 month and it too wrecked my shirt & pants!

And the contact number on their website...might as well speak to a wall.

AVOID THIS BAG!!! & warn your friends. (Yes, I'm pissed after paying RM290 for it! )

the website is quite impressive..

the cheapest for blowgun is around RM 250 which is rather expensive for locally made bag.

they claim u can fit everything except for kitchen sink + tearproof + made from 900d polyester

so, how come urs tear easily..maybe that one is pirated one..that's why they sell it to you

Hmm it looks like a rip off from Crumpler's line of bag.

I got the original Crumpler, was quite expensive, but it has already lasted me a year+ without any trouble (except it looks dirty only)

Used it to travel for my project sites last time, went to Saud and Dubai so many times with it

Original product. Bought it from Thunder Match who refuse to change / refund even the bag had the same defect TWICE over 2 months.

I have been using Checker Plate Bag to protect my laptop for 3 months.
The condition of the bag still Good except it look abit dirty.

I was suprised when i saw your thread because your problem doesnt seems happen on my bag.
As you said the metal support structure at the bottom left came out and damaged your shirt after it used for one month, but i don't see this problem happen on me anyway.
Em, maybe because of the way you take care of your bag ?

It doesn't make any sense at all.
In every purchase of bag, i believed that you will be given chance to test and touch the bag before you pay the money.
If the bag happened to be heavy like rock, I don't think you will buy it.
Isn't it ?
The thing is, have you ever own a checker plate for yourself ?
In my point of view, checker plate provides a comfortable cushion when i carry it.
Well, undeniable, it might differs to others.

I'm not here to praise or promote checker plate bag,
it is just an opinion from a checker plate's user.

omg i just had the exact same prob as u. one month as well. checkerplate =_="

I bought the bag because of the cushion, however with this type of built quality, it is definitely does not worth our money to buy.

Check Plate appointed dealer Thunder Match definitely aggravated customer's experience to a new low point.

Well, I just bought the exact same bag (but different colour) from Thunder Match at Low Yatt Plaza as well. Price at RM 129.

I like the design but the rest not so sure yet.

yup i agree most of the shops in lowyat will cheat you if you let them. my back pack is a Deuter Venom 30 (i think it has been discontinued) and it can take 14 inch notebook or a 3l camelbak tank! goes to work or mountainbiking with me! awesome! got it at a UFL roadshow! and at a sweet price of less than rm200!

But i doubt big retail shop will cheat tho.

You know how much margin you can earn by selling Checker plate ?

If the profit margin is low , they should sell it at higher price.

The thing is,
The cost for each unit = unexpected low !
Therefore, they are trying to push checker plate instead of selling other bag inorder to gain more profit.
We can't blaim Thunder match for selling the bag,
because it's the nature of a business to make money

As long as the quality is good, then should be okay regardless how low the cost of production is.

b4 this was aiming for chekerplate but after reading all these review it seem that 5 out of 10 chekerplate bag create problem after 1 month.....time to look into other brand

Actually it depands on user itself, depands on how you take good care of your bag also.

The design of Checker Plate bags are so cool. Just love the design.

Anyone knows the main purpose why the bag come with an extra removable cover just for you to put your laptop?

The core message is Consumers' Rights must be respected and protected.

We must demand:

1. Quality Product
2. Customer Service

For those who love the design of Checkplate and yet complaining their qualities , Please get yourself the real brand , Crumpler.


Price wise , It's only 5-6 times of the price for Checker plate .

If the bag cost RM300 then the quality shud be on par with targus. Really I think ur complain is valid.

I'm sorry to say that the cheapest Crumpler laptop bag is starting from Rm400.

But I still think the Cherker Plate bag has good quality as long as you don't try to pack / fit everything to the maximum inside the bag.

I just saw the Crumpler bags at Mid Valley.
Very similar to the Checkerplate bags....big zipper...even place their brand logo at the same location on the bag & also on the zip...nice design...but inside a little different. But Crumpler has a higher pricing of course.

just a quick review for checkerplate blowgun.i have been using it for 3 months now.everyday i travel around with it and i carry a dinosaur aged R52 ibm laptop(inc battery),water bottle,tupperware box,windbreaker.at least 3 - 5kgs.sometimes 3.5hdd for support calls.i walk n take bus.

n so far the bag has been holding up pretty well.no signs of tear, still very new.please note i am an end user.not trying to promote or sell.

I'm glad dat I did not buy the checker-plate backpack yesterday. U can get a deuter for below than RM300 and it's definitely better than checker-plate which cost RM250-RM300. Checker-plate not bad anyway but it's too expensive for local brand..

had my Targus for 5 years... it still looks like 1 year old.

i don't recommend to buy anything from thundermatch actually as i have many bad experience with thunder match in warranty, service, and the price they sell is not really cheap too...

BUT IN NETWORLD COMPTERS SDN. BHD. LA... IN LOW YAT ALSO THEY GIVE ME NICE SERVICES

targus bag, is it lifetime warranty?

Cant remember... Dono where i throw the tags that comes with the sling bag edi. But after 5 years, apart from some furry patches due to constant rubbing at my leg, it still look ok, and waterproofing no leak yet. If i ever need to claim warranty, no need bother, just buy another. After use more than 5 years already untung balik.

i have one checkerplate laptop backpack....i bought the biggest size...quite heavy without laptop....but quite hardy too....throw here and there.....still okie except dirty only la.....

the bag still fine and good.....bought during 08 pc fair....buy one free one....free messenger bag still in my store room....hehehhe

to me, targus is the best brand laptop bag... well to me that is... been using it for 8 month and it got the rain-coat covering the bag!!! wuhuu...

as for the customer service in lowyatt... only a few good people give nice customer service there, usually the shop around the back are really nice and give a lot of honest information ... and 80% of them give you sh!tty customer service based on your looks, their desperation to gain profit is sad really....
