I should make my opinion clearer.

I means, for example if you are a news publisher. you'll update news, right? but what target users your website is targeting? they are white collar, or they are teenagers, or they are housewife? The fresh and unique content is kind of a must, but if you post the content relate to teen on a housewife website, does it work?

Just need to understand your users, who they are, what they expect from your website.

Forum posting is good, it can explore your site. however, it will be better if you posting on the niche that related to your website

Oh anyway guys, i found out that to make your blog popular, you gotta search for niche topics that is not so competitive in Google keywords so that you have a higher chances ranking well in Google Search. For example you write about "Supermodel in Malaysia"

Do a quick check with Google keyword tool and you can see whether the competition is high and how many searches per month.
If the search volume is below 1000, it's not worth writing this topic. If the search volume is above 1000, then look at the competition. If the competition is high, then search for alternative topic such as "The Malaysian Supermodels" / "Malaysia and her Supermodels".

The way you word your topic and key words has effect on search engine.
