Expanding final 3TB disk in DS1812+, it would take approx 2 days for expansion and parity check. I am very happy with the purchase so far.

I believe that Mikrotik Routers can do link aggregation. I have never tried it, but you guys can try it and let me know if it works....

I'm using N40L... noise is neglectable, but I guess that depends on the surrounding environment and different ears...

I bot it for around 1.3K last year.If you are going to place this N40L at the opposite corner of your bed and you will be turning on Fan or Aircond at night, then I am sure the fan noise or the aircond noise will cover up the N40L fan noise.. Like I said, the fan noise is neglectable but not total silence of course.. also it depends also on another factor, what type of drives u are going to use.. I read that WD Black will produce much more noise than the usual WD green. |

QUOTE(numbertwo @ Jan 1 2013, 09:35 PM) that's exactly some of the replies from other forum..from my understanding(if is correct), you will be alright if your system keep accessing the HDD for read/write.. cos intellipark only trigger after 8 seconds of inactivity. for more info |

yup..the parking thingy is applied when it has a chance to take a rest. But talking about the price, 799 is a darn good bargain. Make sure it is not N36L though.. heh.

I highly doubt it is easier than it looks though. For me it is already silent as it is. by the way, is there any N36L/N40L user? May I know how is the fan noise? For RM 799, I don't think it's N40L. A few months back, we were on a witch hunt for the Microserver when they started the RM 799 promo for the N36L which is still a good buy. If not wrong, everywhere was out of stock.by the way, is there any N36L/N40L user? May I know how is the fan noise? I read in some website stated is very noisy.. If the N36L is back in stock, I would consider a 3rd unit. If N40L for RM 799, I'll grab two. Yes, to a certain extent the whining of the hardisk spindle rotation will be louder than the Microserver itself. If you are going to place this N40L at the opposite corner of your bed and you will be turning on Fan or Aircond at night, then I am sure the fan noise or the aircond noise will cover up the N40L fan noise.. Yes, best is to avoid the normal Green drives. You can use Green AV drives though. |
