Hi Guys, I have installed outdoor membrane filter (UF Membrane GB 1000) but water still dirty.
The seller ask me to use for longer and monitor, but I already used for more than 2 weeks...

Any idea? As the filter suppose to filter up to 0.01 micron.
By looking at the water quality, it just like no filter installed...

Kindly advise. Thanks.
*
I guess your membrane is already broken. Membrane filter is prone to be broken and become total damage.

Why didn't u consider a sand based outdoor filter before?

My budget is 2k. Can stretch to 2.2k maybe. House at malacca.

Looking for both outdoor and indoor filter. Quality of incoming water supply is ok i suppose.

Prefer brand 3m or amway (since majority here using these 2 brands so i think i can't go wrong isn't it)

can anyone quote/pm me the price including the mantainance cost?

Also possible to get function as hot n cold water with my budget?

last but not least, im planning to reno my kitchen by end of this year, is it ok if i install the filter first?

Thank you!!

As info given by other forumer, those are some of the combo you can choose with.

Personally I will recommend to go with the best drinking water first and solve the outdoor filter (POE) in later stage of your tenancy. why?

1) If you stay in condo, most modern condo will have centralized outdoor water filter.
2) If you stay in new landed property, the piping used are newer material that is more resistant to rust.
3) Drinking water will directly affects our health, not in short term, but in long term. Thus people won't realize it is due to their drinking water because water toxic accumulate slowly and gradually in the body without us realizing.
4) Better buy once and get it correct than keep changing and upgrading, you will end up spending more.

PM me for espring promo, I cover all around penisula, even in area like Kuala Besut (terengganu) to cities.

I have a question here. Is RO water the best choice for drinking? This is because I heard a lot of people talking about it. Just curious..hehe..
*
RO is not the best choice for drinking.

It is not the cleanest, although they try to claim it is. Distilled water is the cleanest and purest.

When come to drinking water, we have to know the following:

Q1) it is clean enough, how clean is clean?
Q2) it is suitable for human to drink?

Answer:
Q1) Water should be free from heavy metal and VOCs, in this context RO water done a good job on heavy metal but fail short with VOC [Volatile Organic Compound], whilst also remove the beneficial minerals like calcium and magnesium.

Q2) Our blood pH is between 7.35-7.45; RO water without minerals will have a lower pH, hence our body need to adjust the water to around pH 7.35 before the water can enter our blood. To do this, our body will extract calcium from our bone, hence prolong consumption of RO water will cause calcium deficiency.

RO water however (as mentioned by chickytien) is used by dialysis patients, some kidney transplant patients can only drink distilled water.....those are people with special needs....not everyone is suitable to drink RO or distilled water.

Even WHO has a write up on telling people not to drink too much RO and distilled water.

Yup espring also alkaline water, just that we don't use ionizer to make it alkaline.

And never overclaim alkaline water can cure cancer or-what-so-ever diseases...

Like other forumer explained, we really need to know more beyond the surface.

If your family / yourself do not need RO water, by all means don't use the RO water. It will cause calcium deficiency.

To all sifus here.

Finally get the e-spring .

However there are few concern.

I. after installation the water seems blueish for around 1 minute. Any idea why is it.
ii. there are minor leaking on the Diverter, where some drip of water bounce back fr goin through it.
iii. Do I still need to install external filter as my shower all from tangki.
*
I. always let water run for 15 mins, before 1st usage of new installation / new cartridge, that's carbon powder. Yes it is black or sometimes blueish....it is carbon powder.

II. Minor leaking due to facet to diverter connection not properly cover. There is a trick, if you are in Klang valley, i can fix it up for you without any charges, just my special trick that I wish to pass around smile.gif

III. Up to you, you can get 3M based on our nice NightFelix's suggestion or I can show you Pentair's demo without any obligation smile.gif

OK, thanks.

You meant I need to switch it on 24x7 eventhough I did not turn on the water tap?
*

In this incident, I did not turn on the filter 24x7.

Is it better to turn on the filter 24x7 eventhough I did not use it?
*
Hi Rocketm, yes it is recommended to turn it on 24x7.

How long have your unit been installed? It worked for a while and then this happened?

Hi, the 'main brain' has been malfunction and change in the past but I forget the exact time of replace.
Now, is the second time it malfunction (different problem).

Is it possible that I discontinue to use the water filter system? Can I get refund by returning it to Amway? What can I do about it?

Thanks.
*
2nd time? how come? I have been selling espring for 7 years and never got 1 case like this.

QUOTE(NightFelix @ Dec 10 2014, 10:38 PM)
No you can't refund by return back to Amway. Buy a new board I can't remember how much. As I said, if still within 2 year warranty, you still can ask for replacement no matter how many times. Contact your distributor who sold to you. blush.gif
*
Yup contact the distributor who sold to you.

Alright, in before that, do the 3M AP-1752 Plus have the same NSF 42 Aesthetic Effects and NSF 53 Health Effects certification just like the two 3M models above (DWS2500T / DWS1000)?

I did some Googled but I only found NSF 42 certification. hmm.gif

The reason standards exists is to make sure products are conforming to specifications. However many manufacturers design the products with the sole aim to capture market share, hence in this event, they try to fulfill some standard while cut corners to bring advantages to them in capturing market share.

Water filtration / treatment is a very stringent specification, I really feel sorry for manufacturers that market products without even bother to ask the key questions
QUOTE
"what is not safe in the water and we shall definitely remove them?"

instead they care more about
QUOTE
"oh this price range is what consumer willing to spend, let's do something at this price and as long as water is clear, they will not care much"

Choosing a filter should not be primarily base on budget, I will say budget is important but the first question that consumer should ask is
QUOTE
What do I want to leave behind in my water? mercury? lead? sand? dust? rust?

I believe all we want to say is "nothing harmful!" but unknowingly we go out and buy 1 water filter that can't filter all the things we don't want to exist in our water because of "budget". I am not saying we don't need to have a budget, but if we have bought something that can't do the work, then later on have to buy again, wouldn't that cause much money even?

DWS1000
Standard 42:
QUOTE
Taste and Odor Reduction
Chlorine Reduction
Nominal Particulate Reduction, Class I

Standard 53:
QUOTE
Cyst Reduction
Lead Reduction
MTBE Reduction
Turbidity Reduction
VOC Reduction

DWS2500T
Standard 42:
QUOTE
Chlorine Reduction
Taste and Odor Reduction

Standard 53:

Cyst Reduction

AP-1752 Plus
Not certified on Standard 42 & 53

It is a short list of reduction there, out of all 3 models, DWS1000 is the only one that can be used because at least it removes VOC and Lead, but mercury, TTHM and other cancerogenic chemicals are not removed.
