NSF is not only limited for USA market.
Coway was a brand from Korea also certified by NSF standards.
Kinetico is selling in France, UK but didn't bother to get certify by LGA even, currently certified by WQA using NSF standards.
Philips (Europe) also certified by WQA using NSF standards.
To get certified under NSF labs is a serious ordeal, NSF test products towards the end of their life span (aged cartridge) for effectiveness. This is why you see some brands just rather get WQA certifications using NSF standards instead of sending it to NSF labs for the actual tests.
In Philips Water filter brochure, it was documented, Certified under NSF-53, NSF-55 by an
independent laboratory.
Even Kinetico, with 35 years experience started to cut some corners, it was certified by NSF labs & WQA labs, now only WQA labs using NSF standards.
I strongly urge everyone to not just look at the standard numbers, but dwell deeper into the reports, what it can really filter, how long is the contaminants list. This is important, make sure
VOC, THM, TTHM is in the list, TTHM is one of the major cause of breast cancer!!Search NSF reports here: (key in brand name or manufacturer name)
