There is a local online reseller of Culligan EZ-4 water filters. His link is

http://www.lelong.com.my/culligan-ic-ez-4-...7-01-Sale-I.htm

Actually he is my friend. He order in bulk so can get it cheaper. As for future replacement, he told me don't worry as Culligan is an international brand name it will be available in stock.

I happen to bumped into Culligan IC-EZ-1 available at Ace Hardware in Chitta Mall. RM95.90.
The head can be used for ic ez 4 replacement cartridge. When asked for IC-EZ-4  replacement cartridge, no stock.

Add on:
Apparently, Ace Hardware is Culligan's official retailer.

My friend who is selling this same Culligan filter online

He have enough cartridges on stock. All is EZ-4 cartridges. He got it bulk online. If interested can contact / email him (pls check his lelong for contact details). Genuine seller. In the end what you get is a same filter as Ace Hardware. Maybe he can also lump in a valve connector for the sink tap also.

no need to cook the water for these 2? whats the price? whats the duration for these 2 system?
*
Need to cook the water even after going through this two filters. Unless you use UV filters as the final pass filter then no need to boil it. As for price, if i got visit Ace in Ikano or Solaris, will look out for it. Just scare i forget only.

whats the NSF ratings?

this one has small filtering capacity if i am not mistaken hence the per liter cost is rather high compared to the other suggested culligan model. maybe someone can compare?
*
Please find attached for the Culligan EZ-4 manual with specs & installation method.

It has a filter life span of 500 gallons or 1893 Liters. Let us use Liters for easy sake.

Say one household have 5 persons.

Each person consume about 2 bottles of 1.5 Liters of water per day.

So total daily household requirement from filter is : 5 x 3 liters / day = 15 liters per day.

So, 1893 divide my 15 liters comes to about 126 days.

So this roughly equates to about 4 months worth of use for a household with 5 persons and each person consumption is 3 liters per day.

Each cartridge is bought by Amazon costs about, say RM 200.00 (include shipping).

So RM 200.00 gives you 4 months worth of filtering capacity.

Please find attached the performance Data for EZ-4 cartridge. This is extracted from the original Culligan EZ-4 manual.

EZ-4 cartridge filters are tested and certified under NSF / ANSI Std 53 for Cysts, Lead, Mercury, VOC, MTBE and Turbidity. The difference in price of EZ-4 with other model / range of Culligan filters is due to its ability in filtering VOC. VOC is volatile organic compound.

If using outdoor filter and using PVC pipe from outdoor filter to indoor and the PVC is exposed to the sun, it is not good. Therefore, never use PVC pipes for water filter for human consumption.

I was always wondering those vending machine selling water by 10cents for 1 liter, are they using any NSF standard, are they truly safe for drinking, I doubt they actually filter VOC etc.

Btw, EZ-1 without VOC filtering feature but can filter up to 3000 gallons or 1 year max. What do you think of boiling water from EZ-1 and drinking it, safe?
*
I am not qualified to answer your question but here is my attempt.

"Boiling water will only eliminate volatile components such as dissolved chlorine gas, hydrogen chloride and dissolved fluorine gas and hydrogen fluoride but not components such as calcium chloride and calcium fluoride.

The only way to eliminate components such as calcium chloride and calcium fluoride is to filter your water with an effectve filter. "

- Source: From Yahoo Answers

As for outdoor filters, i can't verify their filtration level. To verify need to do a proper lab test on their incoming source sample and filtered water sample.

I want to buy Culligan EZ-1 and use it until it's expired then change to ez-4 cartrige.

Now i'm using a cheapo 2 stage water filter bought from Mydin mainly for cooking and washing vegie/fruit. Sometimes drink from it after boiling.

Compare to that cheapo 2 stage water filter, is Culligan EZ-1 better? its RM20 more expensive. But not sure if EZ-1 still better than my current water filter.

I am using Culligan EZ-4, if you can tolerate the slightly slow rate of water coming out from the filter then it is ok. Otherwise, the water (after boiling of course) tastes normal like what water should be. I am comforted that it is a safe and good filter, so far it is reliable filter to use for me.

I consider this Culligan EZ-4 a worthy contender. Best of all the price is affordable and it is NSF 42 & 53 certified. I am using it myself. Can get from Amazon.com.

This Culligan EZ-4 water filter doesn't cure diseases, or kill anybody. It is a pure and simple water filter at affordable price. It is NSF rated and is easy to maintain and cheap to replace the filter.

Nope.

Bro -JC- is doing the EZ-4 bulk from Amazon. you can join him.
*
You can get it from Culligan seller at Amazon.com

I have bought 10 units. Include shipping, my average cost is about rm 180-190 per cartridge of EZ-4.

If you don't want to buy it from Amazon like i did, you can get it from local seller at Lelong.com

Just type Culligan EZ-4 at Lelong.com, my good friend is selling it. But he sell whole set. I can't say his price is expensive or cheap but if compare to others, it is affordable and is quality product. Thats my 2 cents. Yes i am promoting it here but only on behalf of my friend. Maybe he should give me some commission.

With the filter head pack or just the RC pack?
*
I guess it is only the filter cartridge. My average cost ( i ordered 10 at a time ) is about RM 180.00 (include courier).

For the head, can easily get it from ACE Hardware. I wonder why ACE do not have EZ-4 cartridges.

Culligan EZ-4 is out of this world water filter. The water that comes out only needs boiling and when the water boils and cools down, you can drink it safely for your whole family and extended family.
