When you use your sound meter, are you holding it in the middle of the room or next to the compressor pump or near the fridge? Also if you are holding it, it will even pickup your breathing.

Anyway most of these free apps are highly inaccurate. Even in a very quiet room, I get about 40dB

60dB does seems high. I just bought a vacuum cleaner and it's only rated at 61dB

I had a samsung fridge for 9 years. Broken a few times. The 3rd party repair ppl are not professional. Got no parts also. One time had to ganti with a modified part.

I also had a Sharp for 7 years. Only once I had to call their repair person out (could be third party also not sure) due to manufacturing defect, had to change the rubber seals. But after that, worked with no more problems.

No more Samsung for me. Next unit will be a Hitachi

Get a French door design instead

He must be mistaking inverter Aircon and inverter Fridge
PAM is in Hitachi Inverter Aircon. What has that gotta do with their fridge?
Only the high end Hitachi fridge has PAM

PAM is just to shape the power supply waveform, nothing to do with noise

Whether hitachi fridge is noisy or not, could be due to other factors. Maybe their isolation of the motor is not good enough

You can maybe go see if imsobloodysick have the model you wanted. Maybe he is willing to plug it in for you to hear the compressor running. His shop is quiet enough to judge before you buy

ok let us know. didnt somebody say can apply some rubber substance to the compressor pump to reduce noise?
strange my friend has one of those big french units and he didnt complain ada noise. i asked him twice. he said ok nothing too disturbing.

Try complaining to hitachi first
If still cannot tahan then just sell few hundred cheaper and buy yourself a new fridge
I think I will still buy the Hitachi model like loritanah

I looked at three Hitachi models today -
Side by Side - R-S800P2M
Big French - R-W720P3M
French Bottom - R-WB490P2M

All 3 seem to have the same compressor. strange that these three models also different capacity


Unfortunately there got no power point, if not i plug it in to hear...LOL

Wah so early ah?
I was lucky. Saw them at Jusco MVMM. Just these three was on their own. No other fridges. At the back got some very small fridges. I move one of the small one, then can access all three




I wanted to see how flush was the compressor sitting cause some other brands, they seem to stick out a little. As you can see in the above pic. Glad to say the Hitachi ones sits flushed inside. I wonder if can cover this area? Also just noticed that R600a is flammable gas

all three uses the same compressor when they are different sizes - 586L, 382L and 695L
