I'm shopping around for a new fridge. Interested in those big multi door type. How come nowadays the new multi-doors or side-by-side door fridge design doesn't have Freezer compartment at the top? How to put my Ice-cream cake during party?

seems like old panasonic (National back then actually) Tanto fridge might have to go because of high consumption

so surveying 2dr top freezer, but seems like most of 2dr between 300-400 liter class, the lower compartment door got only 3 door pockets. my old tanto has 4 door pockets. seems like they deduct one door pockets by lifting up the big bottle pocket to make way for bigger vegetable box

any reputable brand within 300-400 liter, budget within 2k, preferably 4 star+ so can get save rm200 rebate, with below criteria:

lower door MUST have 4 (four) pockets
top freezer no need too big, but sufficient big
net capacity to raw capacity not so far away (so LG more likely)

some brands like mitsu, sharp, net capacity so low compared to raw capacity

Use lazada to get pictures la... then after you finalize the models that you are interested, goto actual shop for a look.

I go to shop to see the actual fridge, size, compartment, etc.. then bought from lazada on sales day.. much cheaper... 😆

Expensive delivery. Not sure if they will push fridge inside your home.

Prefer to buy from shop... some shop is cheap when they have sales, free delivery and unbox everything, push into your allocated space.

Not really.. i got cheap reasonable delivery.
Delivered by their shop partner and called to set appointment for delivery.. asked them to send after 6pm.
They even push inside and unbox it.
Need to search around with best deals in lazada.
Got around 1k+ discount in lazada.

Wait warehouse sale better...

The only good deal online that I saw is on TV, soundbar and A/C.

My Sharp Fridge used to use 4kwh/day. Then in December the compressor conked out so we changed it and now the electricity is 5.5kwh/day. There is also a leak that isn't falling into the drain pan but on the back left of the fridge. What can else can be leaking?
*
Holy cow... 4kwh? Old fridge? Better change it.

Compressor kong? U sure is compressor? Most of the time, those old fridge is just the starter kong. Change that and all is fixed. If got water leak then check see if drying pan has old (old plastic will rot) or the drain pipe is not position correctly (since you change the compressor, who knows if the technician undo the pipe and tie it somewhere else).

My old fridge also doing 4kwh and I ditch it for 4 door Hisense RQ568. Now its 1kwh per day most of the time.

Not sure where you heard that from but they do have a service line here, maybe its just outsourced to third party at worse case. Anyway not a concern to me because their fridges are usually cheaper compared to other brands of the same size and spec. As long it can last minimum 5 years (fingers crossed) without issues then its fine to me. If you are concerned then purchase extended warranty from the shop as well

First you need to determine the spacing for your fridge. I ended up with Hisense because its the only model that fit my space perfectly in terms of depth and of course budget wise its cheaper
*
Same. I also bought hisense because no other would offer the same features and design for 2.3k. Personally I don't think there's too much technicality regarding fridge except the controller board for inverter function.

Any fridge also would age and needed maintenance. Like my mom's 8 years hitachi fridge, yes, it is still working fine but the doors don't close very well nowadays and the door lining definitely needed a change. Also one shouldn't forcefully fit a fridge into a slot without leaving space for it to dissipate heat from the anti frost function.

Never ever share single plug for heavy wattage appliances.
Try to ask Electrician to pull new wire from DB.

Fridge also consider heavy wattage?

I believe modern fridge is not heavy on wattage... even when you combine two running together should be less than 2000w. Not to mention fridge rarely run anyway... only during defrost and freeze again.

I would instead buy my own cable and make an extender for 2 plugs to prevent melting wires with those cheapo extender.

Oops. Didn't know that.
Heard cannot share with Fridge.
Some time ago I remembered this.

Commercial fridge maybe higher consumption but household one usually low power especially modern ones.

Just beware of those drawing 1500w and above. Induction cooker, kettle (>3L), medium to big oven/microwave, air fryer. Electric steambot pot is basically a kettle with temp control.

I wouldnt even consider ac heavy power nowadays considering 1hp R32 ac draw roughly 800w for a 5stars ones.

Is it possible to get a good fridge with just 1-1.5k budget?
*
There is really nothing technical about fridge anyway. Its just a cooler, and all you need to consider is whether you want a basic functioning one which is cheap or a fancy looking one but cost an arm and leg for it.

I just dont understand why there are still those who are willing to spend twice the price to buy a branded bridge and hoping it would last forever vs buying an affordable one and probably replace them every 5years since everything degrade over time anyway.

why Toshiba is not good?
*
Actually fridge is really an ancient tech. Nothing special about it other than inverter to help reduce electricity consumption. No need to buy fancy fancy one unless your house nicely decorated, want some atas feeling.

People say china no good but my hisense French door almost 2 years no problem also.

Fridge is simple. Don't stuff too full until block the airflow. If cook a lot, then clean the rubber seal lining regularly.
