No Imax 2D sad.gif 3D is troublesome with glasses and abit dizzy. Dbox worth it?

I've seen two movies (and possibly the best) to utilize D-Box; 'Mad Max Fury Road' and 'Star Wars The Force Awakens'.

The former, well, one of the best action films ever made, and D-Box makes it 2x better.

Force Awakens, first watched it on IMAX 3D (bummer I know) then watched it in D-Box ; no regrets!

The part where Poe Dameron struggles to release the Tie Fighter, and then it breaks free... you can feel the force of the Tie Fighter pulling away. biggrin.gif

Oh, and every light-saber hit gives you a jolt. Never distracting.

Expect The Last Jedi to be totally worth it on D-Box. nod.gif

Thanks. Still considering as imax for great visual experience or dBox for thrill.
Have u booked?

Booked for IMAX 3D... will watch D-Box at a later date. I think it's going to be great regardless of the format you choose to experience... but first, let's hope the movie is good! biggrin.gif

Judging from the TLJ movie poster... the 'bad guy' is always in background. And in the TLJ poster... brows.gif

Anyways, catching it on Thursday... hope to be spoiler free until then! icon_rolleyes.gif

Wow.

Just.

Exceeded my expectations.

Way, way better than TFA.

Quite possibly the most fun Star Wars film since the original trilogy! biggrin.gif

Yes, you guys are right on certain gripes (e.g. Captain Phasma, Admiral Ackbar, Snoke)...

But that's the story. That's how it is... I mean, either you love the direction of the story or you don't. innocent.gif

Rey's origin - - - you guys seriously believe that? I still think there's a lot more to it.

I was ready to see Obi-Wan Kenobi's face at that scene... laugh.gif

Honestly, I was prepared to say Rogue One / TFA would be better than TLJ.

Nope.

TLJ is better than Rogue One / TFA.

That battle at Snoke's chamberr. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Watched on IMAX 3D.

Will be watching it again on D-Box!!

9/10

*SPOILERS

Episode 8 is the ultimate teaser of big things to come in Episode 9

- Rey's heritage STILL NOT CONFIRMED
- Kylo Ren's rise to power
- ...and let's not forget, who is that kid with the force at the end?? Rey's younger brother that she doesn't know? shocking.gif

QUOTE(roy595 @ Dec 15 2017, 02:30 AM)
Honestly, I feel like I'll never be able to watch the original trilogy the way I used to. (Especially Ep. 6). I mean, Han and Luke died, failures, never really having achived much. The whole "the Empire has been defeated" thing is not real. They come back stronger and almost kill everyone in the movie.

Seriously, I don't really care that much about the next episode anymore. Even the holy trinity (Luke, Leia, Han), which are still the best parts of the series are gone. So, that's the end of Star Wars I guess.
*
Passing the baton to the new generation la... can't expect Luke/Leia/Han's characters to stick around for long. We should be super grateful they actually agreed to return for this sequel trilogy laugh.gif The way I see it... Han's death and Luke's end were well handled... Han being beaten by his own son, holding Ben's face in a one-last-father-son-moment while Luke, at peace with himself and did a 'Yoda' disappearing act in what is possibly the most bad-ass Jedi "stunt".

I am the complete opposite... I can't friggin wait for the next episode! biggrin.gif

QUOTE(sickx @ Dec 15 2017, 08:40 AM)
haha me too. there's gotta be something more than just THAT.

D-Box only if you've seen it already... it's just for "fun", so not a biggie if you can't catch it on this format.

Well I stayed until the last credit roll but no tribute either to Carrie fisher ? Wtf ?

For an actress that has contributed so much since the first star wars trilogy, the least you aspect them to do is pay tribute or some sort before or after credit roll but this look like they couldn't be bothered.

Or will we see some kind of tribute from the blu-ray ? I hope so.
*
Apparently there is, though I left as soon as the director's name appeared.

Shortly into the credits, a dedication appears onscreen that reads: "In Loving Memory of Our Princess, Carrie Fisher."

Same... first movie I went to cinema this year without knowing the 'rating' no thanks to the late embargo tongue.gif Came out totally satisfied and was a little shaken/surprised by the audience response.

I'm itching to give my take on all the negative response, but perhaps another time.

QUOTE(5p3ak @ Dec 20 2017, 09:15 AM)
Is it worth watching The last jedi on IMAX?
*
I watched it on IMAX 3D - - if you want the 'loudest' and 'largest screen' experience, then it will be worth it in my opinion.

But note that the 3D is somewhat lacking (e.g. compared to 3D animated films) but does add a bit more depth.

Also... large a** subtitles covering the bottom 30% of the screen. Thank you multi language subtitle local cinemas.

Need to check your sources before commenting or looking for an easy way out to side your take on the movie.

TLJ took a lot more risks/liberty with the SW universe in the way TFA refused. And Rian Johnson is getting pummeled for it. doh.gif Heck, I was ready to say TLJ was not as good as TFA, I was wrong.

Even Mark Hamill himself said he is being an old stick in the mud, and that these films are paving the way for the new generation.

Fans may not agree with the risks/unexpected turns, but 10-20 years from now, it will still hold since this is SW canon.

Looks great... but Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo... hmm.gif hmm.gif hmm.gif

Donald Glover definitely going to ace his role.

Definitely has that 'classic' / 'nostalgic' feel.

EXCITED !!! rclxm9.gif

Solo Is Officially the First Star Wars Movie to Flop

https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2018/0...box-office-flop

user posted image

QUOTE
In its second week, Solo earned just $29.29 million—a 65 percent drop from its opening weekend, which was itself a disappointingly low take for a film with its high production budget. Buzzfeed’s Adam B. Vary broke the numbers down Sunday, in two very helpful graphs that show how Solo’s meager reception compares to those of the three most recent Star Wars movies: The Force Awakens, Rogue One, and The Last Jedi. Solo seems to be the first Star Wars movie that audiences are shrugging off as nonessential—perhaps because it tells the backstory of a character who doesn’t really need one, or because of the film’s troubled production history.

I find it amusing that most of these articles fail to mention the fan backlash from 'The Last Jedi' as well. Definitely a contributing factor.

This movie has to gross $500 million to break even. International box office has been quite lukewarm, with just $110 mil.+ after two weeks.

Looking forward to James Mangold's "Boba Fett" and the 'supposedly in the works' "Obi Wan" film.

In case you haven't heard... Carrie Fisher will appear in IX by using unused footage of her from Episode VII.

Watch The Star Wars: Episode 9 Reveal Panel Here From Star Wars Celebration

QUOTE
The massive Star Wars fan event, Star Wars Celebration, begins tomorrow with a high-profile panel focused on Star Wars: Episode IX. The panel is set for 11 AM CDT on Friday, April 12, and it promises new details about the highly anticipated third movie in the new trilogy.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and director JJ Abrams will be on stage, while the panel's official description also teases there will be "plenty of surprises and special guests." According to Lucasfilm, this is an event "you will definitely not want to miss."

Thankfully, it's being streamed. You can watch it through an embed from Star Wars that we'll add here when the show gets closer. As mentioned, it begins at 11 AM CDT from Chicago, which works out to 12 PM ET, 9 AM PT, 5 PM GMT, and 4 AM AEDT in Australia on Saturday.

Episode IX doesn't have a title yet, so that could be among the reveals for the panel. There also hasn't been a trailer, and Star Wars Celebration seems as likely a place as any to release one.

The third and final entry in the new trilogy that began with 2015's The Force Awakens, Episode IX wraps up the entire Skywalker Saga that began all the way back in 1977.

Star Wars Celebration also promises news and reveals for the new Star Wars game Jedi Fallen Order from the developers of Apex Legends and Titanfall. Go to GameSpot sister site CNET to see a full rundown of what to expect from the show.

5pm GMT -> Malaysia time 1.00am April 13

Poster, Title and finally Trailer should be revealed. thumbup.gif

Could be them tricking us, or it is a force flashback. Seeing that lightsaber (is that Rey's staff?) somewhat reminded me of Darth Maul. Some theories suggest Rey could be Darth Maul's daughter and that that Rogue One ending was a tease of what's to come. 🤷🏼‍♂️
https://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/solo-st...g-ancestry-rey/

They better answer Rey's parentage otherwise I'll be super pissed! 😅
