QUOTE(happy4ever @ Dec 19 2009, 01:57 PM)
Thanks for this list!

I always wonder why ppl only focus on western/frenchy fine dining.

Not much on chinese/Japanese or Asian fine dining.  hmm.gif

Its about time the 1st page is updated with more diverse list of restaurants instead of just the few western one. Its getting stale. Otherwise, we are seen to discriminate against asian cuisine over western ones.
*
@happy

Its not focus on western but I believe to get great food of western, you have to spend more since local western dishes are just normal or some of them are crap. Thats why this thread have big influence towards western cuisine. Btw, since you have raised this issue, thats why I try to post list that I make before weekend fiesta. I agree this thread are lack of those Asian Fine Cuisine like Malay, Indian and Chinese. Most people read and ask for recommendation in this thread are looking for great French, European to try maybe because everyday we are easy to get chinese, malay or indian at normal stall/restaurant.

Addition to the List that I know :- (Maybe Stimix can compiled on 1st Page)

Malay Cuisine
- Enak KL Starhill
- Bijan Jln Ceylon (I like this restaurant very much but I dunno whether can be on fine dining or not)
- Ibunda (Too expensive but worth a try especially their ambience and creativity)

Indian
- Bombay Palace (I like the decor and serves great north indian)
- Bangles Restaurant
- Saffron (Food was okay but the restaurant always empty)
- Vansh (I like the food here and worth the money)

Hey guys,

I just booked a table in Prime for New year's eve. They actually sent me a mail asking me to give them my credit no. to secure the reservation.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

What am i supposed to do? Any of you here experienced this before?

Thanks!
*
Yup, you have to send them your authorization for credit card when you book on special occasion. I have do the same on Xmas 2 days ago. They will charged you if no show. If you are lazy to fill up the form, just call them and let them know your card.

Update on Med@marche Renaissance KL :

After doing some renovation on the restaurant itself, now Med@Marche turn to be Fine Italian instead of hype Mediterranean food. The price mostly double. Dinner for 2 ends up 300++.

I recommend Pampas Restaurant at Changkat Bukit Bintang in front of Frangipani. Not much review for this restaurant but nice ambience, good food, great dessert and suitable for couple with candle light and huge wine list.

I agree blog provide great info on this topic but only reply with their url and hope us to click for more info is a bit annoying and unfair to the others. Personally, I would like to have more tips to be shared from blog but its nice if you can provide the details of the content in quote and put up your source of the url. Its passive blog-whoring, I dunno Mr Mod agree or not la. tongue.gif

10 course meal doesnt mean 10 pax. it could be for 8 pax or 12 pax even.
nowadays as families get smaller they have 7-8 course meals for 4-6pax even.
those who suffer badly are those with a headcount of 1-2 unless one has gluttony appetite.

Table sizes of 10 are common sight. Table size of 12 is slowly upcoming, Table sizes of 14 are avoided but there are 1-2 restaurants that have that.
Table size of 20 and 48 are very rare here in malaysia, but i can assure you they have it. Largest i've seen is a single table for 48 people.

To enjoy a meal, you need satisfying quality food to be completed with great friendship or familyship or companionship. Doesnt work if its one or the other. You need both to enjoy a full meal.

Understood already. Will try it after Phuket Trip since this Saturday Cynna already full house.

what syedbrix posted - IMO it's commonly practiced in even non-fine Chinese restaurants. they will vary their ingredients depending on the package.

for example, those below RM 600 you could end up getting crab meat soup, fish varies instead of patin you may end up getting bawal (big one la). biggrin.gif

*i often find the 8 course - 10 course meal not satisfying. the portions are generally small, unless i'm so lucky the whole table also smaller eater. tongue.gif and the portions almost always don't increase with the price. sad.gif
