Yea walk into any Sony Style or Sony Centre and get the book for Sony products. It's stated there and valid until 31st Aug I think.

but the PS3 + LBP + free extra controller at RM1788 is still a good deal... too bad it's limited to 5 units only =(

Was there at the launching yesterday..... nothing big surprise, except some Jap taiko suppose to represent sony management was there, giving speech and launch off.
We should have gather a mob and challenge him why MY PSN price is so high.

The deal of the day is suppose to be the above LBP package@ 1788.
However, normaly package 1599+ cost of game LBP (free controller) = abt the same price ma. So no big deal really.

The only nice thing to offer is they employ a "model-like" GRO to usher the jap VIP. Really eye candy, showing of deep clevage, ahem. Only this make a little worth of my time, petrol, toll, and packing....

Too bad my crappy camera from E71 freaking poor quality can capture a good image for sharing.



Conclusion: still undecide if Ori MY set at 1599, or Summit SG set at 1300. Need some advice bro
Tempted to go for MY set, for peace of mind.
The ori game free controller seems a good deal, but i dun like any of the 5 games offered.

Here's how i see it. After going through the threads here i learned that;

YLOD is the most common problem. This commonly hits the 60gb and 40gb PS3. Less likely on the 80gb version.(But the risk is there)

Lens is the 2nd common problem. Ive seen people using their PS3 to play copy DVD with no problem to those who gets dead lens after 3 or 4 hours play.

No display. Normally setting problem.

Basically if you wanna try your luck going for the SG RM 1300 version might be viable since the lens repair cost is RM 250 and YLOD is around 300.

Basically SG set + unlucky repair = 1300 + 300 = 1600.00

My set 1599

More or less the same. Although there is a chance that the broken part will be broken again. Personally myself I'm still deciding, but leaning more towards the SG set.

Even if get MY set, still no gurantee it won't spoil. And if it spoil, only service is free, part still chargeable.
The only issue is critical failure, that is beyond local agent's capability to repair, then cha lat need to send to SG liao.

If Sony malaysia do service on all region of PS3, then Singaporean PS3 is indeed a good deal
but the fact is, they do not

my gf just bought me a PS3 (God bless her) but w/o my knowledge.
She got it for RM1300, which consists of a 80GB set, + HDMI cable + Assassin's Creed.

I've been reading all these SG sets and MY sets and etc, so I'm wondering now...how do I check which region my PS3 is from?
I assume you can check from the barcode or serial number?
