i was actually expecting closer 2 3870..................

oh well, still, it is better den 9500gt & 4670 is really does very good in price/performance ratio.

i think it is bios stability issues. ntgh 2 do wit driver.

if can, any 4850GS owner willing 2 flash their bios 2 other version & test?

it's not bios related doh.gif ...+ netraid already mention, flashing the bios voids the warranty if the card happens to die. zhen wei also mention that not only gainward having the same problem =/
*
u got ask gainward?
depends on manufacture. like my gigabyte, flashing bios doesn't void warranty thumbup.gif
anything wrong flash bck b4 sending warranty la laugh.gif

people been blaming a lot on driver. bt 4870 user doesn't seem 2 b effected. i'm using it since release, ntgh wrong @ all.
actually the new driver is good. it doesn't bring much improvement 2 games. the main thing is, ATI created a furmark profile on the driver. u will notice dat using new driver, u will get significant lower score bt GPU temperature also lower.
ATI did ds so during benchmarking, it won't over stress & burn the GPU.

note: if u rename the furmark 2 sumthing else & run it, the result will b same as previous driver.

i suspect driver coz usually OC version, especially GS, implement a lot of changes to the bios compared 2 original.

so far, i know dat power coler 4k series got a lot of driver problem.

*
4870 stock cooler shud works on 4850 as well.
if u c, all the aftermarket cooler, if can use on 4870, 4850 also can use.

bt the ram placement is different.

Added on September 8, 2008, 7:29 pmwhen i play games for only 5 min...it raise up to 90c....
teach me how to continue playing with this kind of temp?!???!?
scare it meletup man
*
90+C....................not air-con room right?

it is normal for 4k series 2 go up 2 these temperature after gaming.

bt 90+ is a bit 2 high for 4850. usually stock fan, after gaming is 80+C near 90.

may b ur casing has bad air flow.

Hey bro,

Please post some links re this. Because it doesn't look like the official lab scores. Furthermore, 9500GT is an improvement over the 8600GT.

Thanks.

just a claim, no official words yet.

hi guys,
new user in de red camp.
I bought a palit sonic 4850 recently frm a forumer here.
After testing out for a week, i noticed that
my temperature on load never exceeds 50c
even thou i overclocked to 725 core.
idle temperature is bout 35c.
Is this normal? Cuz everywhere i read, themp
seems to hover around 50c idle and 80c on load.
regardless, im a happy sob cuz this thing is fast!
*
depends on fan speed lo.
my 4870 (OC to 815/925) temperature highest also 45 regardless how long i ply game if i put my fan speed to 100%.
