i got a little "mengular" time after an appointment at menara maxis this morning. wondered into parkson looking for transformers and gundam, came across these guns.

dang they are nice!! . i've heard of them before, but never got the time to check them out. but after today, i'm definitely joining the club. it just feels so damn cool. good prices too. if i didn't have to report back to work, i would've definitely get one already.

was really incline in getting the Recon. but the lack of extra ammo and lack of power (thanks to your reviews) is a complete let down. i'm definitely getting myself a maverick though.

where can you get the streamline darts anyway? it only comes with the clips right?

hahaha.....just got my maverick today. definitely gonna test it out tonight.

just removed the air-restrictor. haven't drilled the holes yet. review?

- getting 6 barreled cool looking dart gun..............RM35
- getting extra micro darts...................................RM30
- going to midvalley's TRU.................................FREE (got a meeting there today)
- hearing the powerful thud of the darts hitting something flat..........priceless
- NOT having to get up to pick the darts after every sixth shot.........priceless

so conclusion:

your six rotating barrels mean nothing without spare ammo .

i will soon continue with the drilling and half-way barrel mod. pictures later .

in regards of mavericks;

i'm about to continue modding my maverick this weekend, the drilling. i'm wondering about the center piece of the barrel, the center pole. i'm thinking about drilling holes around those poles as i got the feeling that the poles actually help guide the bullets, hence better accuracy. the standard mod removes these poles, which i think is not really effective since without the poles, the extra air pressure will be lost inside the dart's center hole. the way i see it, the effective air pressure is only around the edges of the dart, increasing pressure in the center is not really effective since the hole in the dart will only cancel it.

any thoughts on this?

what's a stefan dart? i kinda like the nerf dart, they're really light. i think some foldable fins would increase the accuracy (so that the dart will spin in flight). maybe, we could do somthing to the barrel to allow the darts to spin.

anyway, i think i lost one of my darts already . well, at least i still have 35 shots .

wouldn't the bb thing makes the dart heavier?

anyway, you misunderstood me there, i still have the centre pole. i still think the pole actually contribute to the dart's accuracy at the moment. maybe i'll just continue with the barrel mod first.

air-restrictor removed, no drilling as i'm keeping the center pole:

to be honest, i never really measured it . without the restrictor, i'd it adds a few extra feet. not by much, but the shots has more power behind it at close range, around 15 feet. i think making bigger holes would probably gives more range.

that's normal, cheaper chargers takes longer to charge.

GP's quick charger is good enough, ~8-10hrs. just don't take the ~5hrs charger, those usually shorten battery life.

anyway, back on topic, can't we modify the vulcan to accept DC adapters? i think it's possible. 6 D-batt is just not worth it.

as it stands, any resources on where to get extra ammo clips for the likes of recon & longshot with reasonable price?

streamline darts can be modded, but without extra clips to store them, it seems pretty useless.

p/s: unless we can mode the rifles to except single feed.

fyi, longshot spotted at TRU. RM149.90. so tempting. perhaps i'll get one this weekend.

but i have a problem now . i don't have a place to store it .

definitely gonna start removing the air restrictor soon. as cool as it looks, it only shoots around my maverick's range.

although the streamline darts seems kinda crappy compared to micro darts.

i think all TRUs have stocked on it. i wish they had spare clips, though. it's no fund having to get up to pick your bullets. fun factor - 50 for that!



btw, i got mine at MV. there's like 5-6 boxes left.

Added on February 27, 2009, 2:08 amwow, that was hard. finished removing air restrictor from both barrel. note that it's not as easy as maverick. lot's of drilling and cutting off plastics. front unit works great. main unit will re-assemble tomorrow. . i got a nice "pop" sound when shooting with the front unit too, instead of a "ktak".

got the bugger out. the front attachment was crappy before that, now it's cool and sounds like a grenade launcher.

this is how it looks like after some cleaning.

after the mod, the main gun became really loud. seriously loud(even with bullets)! but the range increased by a significant amount. where my modded maverick bullets would start to arch, the longshot bullet is still going straight (about 23ft)! . although the bullet became a bit out of control, possibly due the amount of air pressure being force to it.

well, that's my review on it.

paint job? i've thought of it, but not at the moment. the amount of screws u have to loosen to open the longshot is simply madness. right now, i just wanna enjoy the firing power.

honestly though, out of the box, the longshot's potential is hindered by the air restrictor. the main gun fires only at my modded maverick's range, the front attachment is even worst.

i did noticed that with the front attachment, after the mod that is, the bullets is more steady (accurate) in flight albeit a bit slower. without it, the bullets goes really fast but all over the place(not that accurate)- like a real gun. we need to find a way to make the bullets spin in flight, now that would be cooler.

crap, i knew i should've scout more before buying at TRU.

hmm....interesting question. normally my target would be walls, mirrors, stationary objects, wife or kid. although shooting at the wife or the kid normally would results in something flying back at me (from the wife) .

seriously, a modded longshot without the front attachment really hurts (according to my wife) .

sure, just add something sharp at the end of the darts.....like razor blade chippings.......wow! that would really hurt, huh?

it's not lethal, but at close range it'll tear right through the skin and cause lots of bleeding. even worst, the blade chippings could get stuck in the skin....

it won't kill lizards, but at a good close range (15ft or so), it'll definitely drop the lizard off the wall.

seriously, i'm on the same boat. always wanted to buy a good gun to toy around with. nerf is definitely it. cheap and effective. however IMO, the fun only begins when you start modding. take a look at some of the modded pic of the nerf guns, you'll be amazed at how they look. what was once a kid's toy now became really intimidating.

1st gun? the cheapest is nite finder, but that's just gay since it doesn't have a good reloading mechanism. although, a modded nite finder can outclass a maverick any day.

most people here recommends maverick for a 1st gun. those rotating barrel is just cool. remove the air restrictor, mod the barrel for full extension and(i must stress this) get extra ammo. the sound of the micro darts hitting something flat is just..... .
