As we all know, there are commissions/fees between merchant and bank, hence not all merchant want to accept CC, especially those smaller ones and revenue not large enough. Also in M'sia environment, merchants prefer to deal with cash for rolling, and also most of them do double-accounting to evade tax, which is illegal.
I think Diners acceptance is worse than Amex, generally in M'sia. Except those higher class (read: expensive) restaurant, golf courses, etc. My Amex at Tai Thong & sister companies, no problem CC cannot be used for Bank Draft in M'sia. |

Hypermart or Supermart like Jusco, Tesco, Giant, Carrefour... I have swipe CC between RM5-10. My friend in SG swipe SGD7 for a single t-shirt in shops like Giordano, Baleno type.

vin_ann,
I've also received it from Citibank and MBB with amount 3k, 4k, 5k, 8k offer average once every quarter or half-yearly. But I didn't throw it away. Keep it safely locked up and most of it are past the 3 months cheque validity date. Maybe I can frame it up or something. |

My MBB CL increase rejected
Nevermind, if not enough to swipe, I'll just swipe Citibank CC. It's MBB who lose out on merchant commission fees. |

QUOTE(David83 @ Jul 22 2008, 02:46 PM) The oldest active card is 3 years ago. The latest card is just 2 months old (Petronas Visa). But I have been using MBB CC since year 2000, terminated when ask for AF. QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jul 22 2008, 03:12 PM) Did MBB tell U Y ur CL request was rejected? And were U asking for a temporary or permanent increase? No, they did not tell why, just say declined. QUOTE(vin_ann @ Jul 22 2008, 04:22 PM) No choice mar, have to swipe 2x per month |

QUOTE(David83 @ Jul 22 2008, 04:43 PM) No. I was quite pissed off initially, as MBB can see very clear I swiped a lot in May, around 70% of CL, and I need to swipe another 50% (large hospital bill - unforeseen circumstances), but can't as the balance is not enough, so have to use other bank CC. Want to fire back the CS Then I calm down, it is alright. There is nothing to lose, although I'm trying to consolidate all the TP in MBB. However in the coming future, if I don't have enough CL in MBB, I'll just swipe my Citibank card. After all, Citibank CL is 60% of my MBB CL, and I have not asked Citibank to revise my CL as I only use 0.2% of Citibank CL every month now to pay Syabas + TNB bill ... and MBB will miss out on merchant commission fees, but with lower financial risk since MBB does not give me higher CL. Added on July 22, 2008, 5:13 pm QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jul 22 2008, 04:55 PM) Yes loh... the backup Citibank CC is just next to MBB CC in my wallet. Anytime I can switch-party Easier and faster than our political parties. This post has been edited by cute_boboi: Jul 22 2008, 05:14 PM |

muscaa,
My salary is going into HSBC, but HSBC rejected my CC application Initial when I first start using newly launched MBB Amex CC two year ago, they call me within <5 minutes when I try to swipe in SG without notifying them I'm travelling overseas. Two months ago, I swiped a single transaction around 15k on MBB CC, they did not call me at all I won't ask for CL increase, if I do not foresee the usage in the coming 1-2 years and for emergency. I can foresee I might need it, hence my request for it, and the result is rejected. Anyway, life goes on. |

muscaa,
Going overseas to work, is not really fun 90% of the time for me. Believe it of not, I only enjoy 1 single day of holiday in HK only on my 3rd trip. There was one time I need to cancel my 1 day holiday plan at last minute and go fire-fighting at client place *sigh* and it was a weekend. |

QUOTE(David83 @ Jul 23 2008, 10:36 AM) Last night I receive CIMB DA statement, after dormant for >7 years. I've both Visa & Master, which I keep for emergency at home/office. The problem is, I have never used it before and they did not send me the latest updated card. I think I don't have the chip-based card. That will be my 2nd backup CC. All these while, I mention about my CC application being rejected by HSBC.
- 5 years annual fee waiver. - Free HSBC Limited edition Lion Pocket Watch* *subject to RM300 spending I think not going to apply for it, as: 1) I'm consolidating points with MBB CC at the moment. 2) MBB 2x Amex, 5x Petronas has better TP 3) I feel MBB CC benefits/rewards are better overall. Anyone want to convince me on HSBC CC benefits/rewards ? e.g. sometimes Citibank CC are allowed to buy-1-free-1 Coffee Bean drinks. Or just hold on to it since 5 years free ? |

Thank you for your advise on my HSBC CC offer. Maybe I submit application to try, after all might not be approved

This Sat morning went down to have porridge at Petaling Street before going over to MV. Still early, plenty of parking space.
Changed my ATM card to "Cherry" Debit Card This time has the most laptop bags, luggage bags than previous years. But too bad I have enough bags already Thought of looking for a mini water-kettle jug I saw last year, but not available this year Not enough points to exchange for an LCD/Plasma TV of any size Nothing specific to buy/exchange. Maybe I am too kiamsiap. Actually nothing in my mind to exchange at the moment. In the end, it's my friend who buy and I swipe my Amex Credit Card for 2x point. Then I sponsor some items with my TP. Redeem some stuff from Gift counter and play the wheel-of-TP. Got back 850 TP (which will be credited within 2 month) and some hooks Overall, I would say the fair is getting better, there are quite a lot of goods. Just too bad I don't have anything in mind to exchange, so I'll keep the points for next year. Parking RM7 max. BTW, I'll be visiting CIMB Fair at KLCC next week also to survey Some facts: 1) MBB Petronas 5x is extended to Dec'08 as mentioned earlier in this thrad. I just pumped Petronas today and will know by Mon/Tue whether it is still 5x. MBB will officially announce it soon. 2) Those on the spot approval + free "onion bag" are for NEW MBB CC applicants only. 3) For those using MBB Amex Charge Card and spent above RM1k, you'll get some nice leather stuff. For those using MBB Amex Credit Card like me, you'll get "onion bag" 4) New MBB Amex Credit Card applicants will have 2 years annual fee waiver. 5) Saw two purple "sponge-bob-square-pants" wondering around. I nearly wrestle it down on the ground, until a SYT pass me the BR flyer Sekian, terima kasih. |
