I have tested RHB's cc before. My complaints are
- RHB cards takes a long time to get approved. Expect 3-4 weeks or more before you receive the card - CS takes a long time to pick up the phone. I place a very high importance on CS responsiveness, speed and ability to attend to the customer needs as I use my card a lot when travelling. You don't want to be stuck in a foreign country when suddenly your card fail to work when you are about to pay for your hotel / food. It's beyond embarassing ... the look is "priceless". QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Oct 5 2008, 09:23 PM) All the HSBC Premier Mastercard cardholders i know have AT LEAST RM40,000.00 of credit line for the exclusive card. So i guess RM40k is the lowest credit line/entry level for HSBC Premier Mastercard. Wait till you hear what's the entry level CL for RHB's VISA Infinite. It is RM200K ... yes ... you heard me right. Before anyone here can get excited about this ... of course getting this card is not easy. You need to have LOTS of deposit with the bank in order for you to be "offered" this card. Unlike SCB's version of the Infinite, you can't walk into the bank and apply for the card. It's not available for application ... by invitation only. This post has been edited by hye: Oct 5 2008, 09:52 PM |

QUOTE(Reventon @ Oct 6 2008, 02:24 AM) I thought the infinite card can be applied? The annual income i think is around 380k to qualified for the card, which mean 31.6k per month, 200k limit is way too high for that income. Anyone here holding that card ? But indeed Rhb does give quite decent limit for their card, like their platinum requirement are only 60k per annum, but they give out 25k limit minimum. Oppps ... when I made my attempt to appl, that's the stuff the RHB's CS was telling me. OK ... so now I know what's the qualifier for the card which is still above most people in Malaysia. @Reventon ... I'm still certain about the CL coz I ask multiple sources to get that info. Plus, I asked someone I knew in the bank. Added on October 6, 2008, 7:11 am QUOTE(PureGeek @ Oct 6 2008, 12:03 AM) Coz if you applied through their roadshows ... the agent (RHB do outsource part of their cc marketing) will gets some cash from each of your card. This post has been edited by hye: Oct 6 2008, 07:11 AM |

QUOTE(qwerty5566 @ Oct 6 2008, 11:12 AM) Dear financial guru's.. The banks will still check your background as a SOP but won't do so for your sub-card as the responsibility of the sub-card falls on your shoulder. (Unless bankruptcy maybe then reject) Sub-check approval is easy but it depends whether you will get yourself approved for a new card or not.Lets say i have a history of bad payment to the bank for my credit card, and coz of that, I might have problems applying new credit card/personal loans (bad ccris/ctos record). But if I would like to get a sub-card from my mom, does the financial institution still check my background with the banks? (eg my ccris/ctos record) and do they still require any documents from me? What are chances of the sub-card being approved? Hope there is someone here with the knowledge to enlighten me! Cheers... |

QUOTE(vin_ann @ Oct 8 2008, 11:35 AM) You can get accces to CIMBClicks with just either DA and/or CIMB cc without the savings/current account. The annoying part is that should you have a current/savings account with CIMB at a later point of time, you need to do the CIMBClicks registration again and register a new sign on ID in order to get access to your banking details. |

QUOTE(booleanx @ Oct 8 2008, 02:31 PM) thansk. citibank called me and told me that they require rm 2k and above. Yeah ... the international banks would probably be more sticky about the minimum requirement. I'll suggest ...which bank is the easiest to apply for a credit card? 1. Get a card which suits your needs the best but be realistic coz it's your first card. 2. Or get a card from where your salary is being deposited. However, I do have a friend which did not get a card from the very bank the salary is being deposited. It all boils down whether you have good track credit record with the banks ... being fresh into the job market. Your credit history should be clean unless you messed it up earlier. |

QUOTE(tgeoklin @ Oct 9 2008, 08:05 AM) Just to set the record straight, the HSBC Premier is not a World Mastercard but more akin to a Mastercard Platinum as there are currently no banks issuing World Mastercard in Malaysia. Emmm .... then how do you explain the word "World" printed on HSBC Premier's Mastercard card. It is printed around below the 3rd set of numbers of the card no. |

QUOTE(aeronlim @ Oct 9 2008, 01:30 PM) All CIMB CC user, Want to ask something here, how long it takes for the bank to increase your credit limit? I used half year already, the CL still the same, i hope can get 5K then next year i can str8 away to get a gold card. It all depends on the bank and your luck. I know someone who gets their CIMB cc credit limit upgraded every 2-3 years by the bank. However, you can trigger the CL upgrade faster if you send in the proof of your new income to the bank. There are cases in this thread where CL upgrades happens very aggresively but please take note that those will not happen to every single cc holder of that bank nor it will happen just because you make prompt payment every month. Take myself for example, I have been paying my Citibank's promptly since the last few years and I only get a CL upgrade by the bank once around 2-3 years and my application for a upgrade is always rejected. I always pay in full and never miss a payment ... go figure This post has been edited by hye: Oct 9 2008, 02:41 PM |

QUOTE(ruztynail @ Oct 12 2008, 01:28 AM) i jus got my HSBC cc.. whn i try to do online registration. need PIN and security device.. how fast can i get it if i go to the bank to get one? can i get it on the spot? or atleast within the same day? Great to see you around here For your questions, for the security device ... you'll get in on the spot. Do remember to bring your cc to the bank as well when you make that trip. Added on October 12, 2008, 7:34 am QUOTE(kenhirai83 @ Oct 12 2008, 01:40 AM) Hi, does all the credit card will be charge processing fees or administrative fees while doing easy payment plan ?? Actually MBB charges around RM70 for the EzyPay which this fee is bourne by the merchant. All the cc will still charge you for this facility but it's the matter of whether it'll be charged to the consumer or bourne by the merchant. As is know Maybank need to charge 5% for EzyPay. How about other?? Any credit card provided 0% interest and no charges for processing fees ?? Added on October 12, 2008, 7:49 am » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « My friend ... if you are the agent for this card ... appreciate the info that you are providing but please there's another section if you intend to advertise your services. My comment for this card is CS efficiency would be untested. Personally I'm not very optimistic since I have unkind words due my previous experience with the bank officer's before where the the officer actually threatens and shouted at me over the phone just because I choose to made payment via the counter instead of autodebiting my salary. Plus, the many people that work with this bank are not customer oriented (got a few exceptions but rare) and the speed that they do things is .... will put them to shame as compared to the local anchor banks and need I compare to the foreign banks ? Others - No platinum card - How to pay for the card given the lack of access to the branches. - Possible (highly likely) slow service at the counter. (I experience this many times) - Untested CS responsiveness, helpfullness and accessibility. This post has been edited by hye: Oct 12 2008, 07:51 AM |

QUOTE(ruztynail @ Oct 12 2008, 09:07 AM) haha thanks!!! if tats the case. hsbc is more protective on the customer's online banking. online purchases compared to citibank cc right? citibank u dont need the security device to buy stuff online.. jus the usual cc numbers.. ? I'm the regular guy around here so u can say u can refer to me on this subject anytime. (Like u r the expect on the other subject)U r right on the spot for Citibank when it comes to buying things online. Just to add ... don't get too excited coz the additional security requires the merchant to implement it on their website as well. There are sites which will not ask that additional Verified by VISA or SecureCode by Mastercard but it all depends whether you feel secure or not to proceed. For example (if I didn't get this wrong) - if you were to pay for your Maxis bill via MaxisOnline - you won't be asked the "security" questions but it does not necessarily mean that your cc details are vulnerable. My take is that ... just be very aware when you use your card online. Most merchants should be OK and they have put in some investments to protect their customers for online transactions. However, there are the occasional merchants which you feel unsafe. The general rule of thumb ... if you feel unsafe then don't proceed. Oh yes ... HSBC are great @ helping you if you ever encounter any bad cc transactions. I once had a double posting by the merchant and they got it resolved in less than 7 days after I send in the dispute form. No hassles or "I have to prove to you that I'm not bluffing you to dispute this transaction" attitude. This post has been edited by hye: Oct 12 2008, 09:23 AM |

QUOTE(pherary @ Oct 14 2008, 08:27 AM) yes..i am on mbb cc..but they told me in black and white that i have to clear all rm1,470 by this saturday which is 18th october. is it possible that i dont pay it..but slowly pay since next month? I suggest you try to settle this quickly via some easy payment and stop using your credit card. If you fail to manage this problem now and choose to slowly pay ... this is the beginning of your bad run with every financial institution in Malaysia. Once a letter is out, a bad mark will be left in your financial history and this info is listed in every bank/financial system in Malaysia.will they send a court letter or take legal action against me? Don't think you can ever get a loan or a credit card ever again with any other bank in Malaysia. I suggest ... you deal with it and please don't borrow from loan sharks. |

QUOTE(Vivato @ Oct 14 2008, 11:18 AM) Does paying your credit card before the statement arrive affect your credit reputation? I don't think so it helps much as I think all the bank does is to check whether you do pay your dues on time and the quantum of your payments/spendings. Credit card does provide a "temporary delay" to pay for your purchases while providing a means of not carrying cash around - I suggest you to just capitalise on this convenience and it works to your benefit if you manage your finances well.eg: charge rm2k pay back 5 days later, in the end your statement have only a few hundreds to settle. |

QUOTE(tishaban @ Oct 14 2008, 02:47 PM) I guess I must be doing something wrong with Citibank, I've been a Citibank customer for 3+ years and no upgrades offered Same thing with me ... Citibank very slow @ this till I gave up and ran away.btw, when you request for the annual fee waiver, do you see the amount credited right away? It's been 2+ weeks and I don't see it on my MBB card. The annual fee waiver for MBB will be waived @ the point of your billing cycle. So, if nothing by then ... call them up. If they don't want to waive then just say goodbye to them and cancel the card ! |

To think around 5-6 years back, the income requirements for a Gold card was around RM60K per annum for just about all the banks in town.

QUOTE(David83 @ Oct 15 2008, 09:46 PM) I remembered somebody mentioned that he/she couldn't use MBB AMEX to pay for bills online in M2U. Who was that? To my best knowledge ... the answer is can but not every bills can be paid using AMEX, VISA or MC via M2U. You still need either a current or savings account to maximise the range of bills that can be paid online via M2U.I asked this during my call with M2U CS. They said can and shouldn't be a big problem. This post has been edited by hye: Oct 15 2008, 09:50 PM |
