Apple is advertising that the new iPhone 3G is twice as fast..
But what i want to know is twice as fast in what? Processing performance ? Connectivity using internet?
cause what i'm worried is our 1st Gen iPhone could not take the 2nd Gen iPhone apps due to the 2nd Gen iPhone being "twice as fast" compared to our 1st gen ones

twice as fast in Internet connection speed if you are in 3G area..
Curent iPhone Edge do support all app in iPhone 3G firmware 2.0
The software is the same..just the hardware able you to run faster

Twice as fast compared to previous EDGE connection. That was one of the bullet-points given by Jobs during the keynote.

Yes. With the addition of a GPS receiver inside the new iPhone 3G, you need as big a receiving surface not affected by interference to allow optimum GPS reception. Otherwise, Apple would have to use protruding form factor that would ruin the look of the iPhone.

how does the GPS receiver work for the iPhone 3g? is it like those in our cars ? or does it requires 3G and it charges by the amount of data transferred?

QUOTE(Mike3300 @ Jul 13 2008, 07:40 PM) Which has positioned the EDGE iPhone as non-worthy ones too, a little embarrassment there. On the contrary, I rather like EDGE speeds. They are constant and stable. My last encounter with 3G is with Celcom Mobile Broadband, and that is embarassing to see the 3G speeds barely crawl past EDGE. Same. The catch here is you cant cache the map via Google Map, and have to rely on 3G connection to download the mapon areas you're driving. Without unlimited 3G plans, your bill would be astronomical.

The same specs as per previous model, with the inclusion of 3G and GPS chip, as well as a warmer temperature display screen. The previous EDGE iPhone screens are skewed towards colder temperature, meaning they are biased towards color blue. The new 3G model is biased towards yellow, and warmer colors, hence why you see the initial report saying that the screen having a yellowish tint.
Did I miss anything?

Added on July 13, 2008, 8:58 pmQUOTE(Mike3300 @ Jul 13 2008, 08:50 PM) stringfellow, and I thought the GPS on iPhone does not capable of giving turn by turn GPS directions? its exactly the same as google map with the directions, from-to route, but with the addition of a dot as your position.
